KIA MOTORS AMERICA ANNOUNCES RECORD AUGUST SALES

  • Year-to-Date Sales Up 6.9 Percent

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 3, 2014 – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced record August sales of 54,667 units, a 5.1-percent increase over the same period last year.  Kia’s year-to-date sales are up 6.9 percent, and the brand’s aggressive new product cadence continues this quarter with the scheduled launches of the all-new Sedona and Soul EV.  As part of the rollout of Kia’s first all-electric, zero-emissions vehicle in the U.S., the latest installment of the award-winning advertising campaign featuring the brand’s music-loving hamsters is now airing.

“With one of the freshest lineups in the industry, more and more customers are discovering the world-class quality, styling and technology Kia offers in every segment, from subcompact to luxury,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of sales and marketing, KMA.  “The Kia brand continues to grow and mature, and the upcoming arrival of the Sedona will continue that trend while the Soul EV, which serves as the centerpiece of our Clean Mobility program, will strengthen our position as one of the 50 Best Global Green Brands1.”

Optima is doing well despite the age of the car.  K900 sales numbers are terrible.  Wonder how many they were planning to sell.  It seems too ambition for Kia, and the Cadenza isn't doing well either.  The cheap vehicles are doing fantastic.

The K900 is a bad name--sounds like a Kenworth name.  And too much overlap w/ Hyundai...does Kia really need to try and match them model for model?
