According to Electrek web site, VW will open up their reservation system in September. Online reservations for the ID.4 EV will only require a $100 deposit. VW production of the ID.4 for European and Chinese markets has started and is on size to compete with the Tesla Y small CUV. The auto is expected to have about 250 miles of range in base form and start at $40,000. 300 miles plus for the top trim version. Production for the North American Market will start in early 2022 at Chattanooga Factory upon the construction completion of the assembly line and battery production plant. The auto has a .28 drag coefficient. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com VW EV Pikes Peak Racer Tease for 2018 VW attempt to put their Diesel gate behind them was shown today in their press announcement of their return to Pikes Peak racing to set a new world EV auto record on June 24th 2018 in Colorado. This 12.4 mile long drive climbs 4,700 feet to the summit at just over 14,000 feet above sea level. The current record for VW to beat was set last year by Rhys Millen in an EV Prototype at 8 min and 57.118 seconds. VW News Release
