It is no secret that Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer has his eye on adding a few more Bentayga variants. As we reported back in December, Bentley is considering a coupe-styled variant, long-wheelbase model, and even a high-performance version. If approved, these models could arrive in 2019 - the time when Bentley is planning to do a facelift for Bentayga. But why is Durheimer so interested in adding more variants? Speaking with Autocar, he explained the reason was to stay one step ahead of competitors. “Derivatives are important to us because you have to be the newest kid in town for customers,” said Durheimer. “We will see a large number of competitors [in this segment] in the future. They are all working on their luxury SUVs. The customers that are buying in this market are keen to have the latest design out there.” The competitors include Rolls-Royce's upcoming Cullinan, Lamborghini Urus, and Audi Q8. It should be noted that a decision on adding more variants to the Bentayga lineup has still not been made. Source: Autocar View full article

Buick Regal To Be Offered As a Hatchback and Wagon Say Two Forecast Firms
William Maley posted an article in Buick
We're excited by the new Opel and Vauxhall Insignia, especially considering we'll be getting our hands on it as the Buick Regal. But we don't know what form the Regal will come in. Opel has shown off a five-door hatchback and wagon, and there is talk about a sedan for China. According to a report from Automotive News, Buick will be selling the Regal as a hatchback and wagon. This information comes from two auto forecast firms: LMC Automotive and AutoForecast Solutions. Dropping the Regal sedan may seem odd, but there is some method to this madness. Sales of midsize sedans has been falling for the past two years and the segment has seen a 20 percent drop in the first two months. Going a different route could give the Regal a possible chance in the U.S. As for the wagon, it is unclear if it will be the standard Insignia wagon or an off-road variant like the Audi A4 Allroad.bu Not surprisingly, Buick spokesman Stuart Fowle declined to comment. There Is the Possibility of More Variants In Volvo's Lineup
William Maley posted an article in Volvo
Volvo is in the midsts of overhauling their lineup with the 90 Series nearing completion, and attention being turned towards the 40 and 60 Series. As Car and Driver notes during the press introduction of the 40 Series concepts, a video was shown demonstrating the flexibility of the CMA platform. Various body styles such as convertible were shown. This got Car and Driver thinking, was Volvo considering adding more variants down the line on the CMA platform? Peter Mertens, Volvo’s head of research and development said CMA could sit underneath a coupe or convertible. But right now, Mertens said Volvo is focused on their core models for this and the SPA platform. At the moment, Volvo's overhaul will be running till 2020. After that, Mertens said there would be the possibility of adding “emotional products” such as a convertible, a coupe, or even a coupe/SUV thing (PLEASE NO VOLVO, NO! -WM).
