  3. Volvo Reports May Sales ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (June 1, 2018) - Volvo Car USA, LLC, (VCUSA) reported U.S. sales of 9,338 vehicles for the month of May, an increase of 50.6 percent from the same period last year. Year-to-date VCUSA has sold 37,754 vehicles, an increase of 40.9 percent from the previous year. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 263,019 vehicles, a 4.1 percent gain over the same period in 2017. May marked the 51st consecutive month of 40,000+ vehicle sales for the company. Crosstrek and Outback sales were notably strong as each model achieved its best May ever. Crosstrek sales for May 2018 increased 74.4 percent over the same month in 2017 and marked the best month ever for the carline. Outback posted a nearly 10 percent increase, while WRX/STI posted 2.1 percent increase in May. “For the first time ever our sales for the month of May exceeded 60,000 vehicles and it is a tribute to our retailers who continue to establish monthly sales records despite the extreme competitiveness of the market,” said Thomas J.   5. Mitsubishi Motors Records Best May Sales Month in 11 Years Total sales up 31.7 percent over last May Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported its best May sales month since 2007 with 12,416 units sold, up 31.7 percent compared to May 2017. For calendar year, total sales are 56,178 up 19.7 percent over the same period last year. Sales of the popular Mitsubishi Outlander were up 32.1 percent with 4,468 units sold, its best May ever. Outlander Sport sold 3,319 units, up 18.2 percent compared to May 2017. Mercedes-Benz USA reports May sales of 26,976 units Jun 1, 2018 – ATLANTA: Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported May sales of 26,976 units, an increase of 0.3% from the 26,893 vehicles sold during the same time period last year. Mercedes- Benz Vans reported best-ever May sales of 3,101 units (up 1.1%) and smart reported 110 units, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 30,187 vehicles for the month. On a year-to-date basis, Mercedes-Benz recorded sales of 132,657, adding 14,102 units for Vans and 524 vehicles for smart, MBUSA's year-to-date sales volume totaled 147,283. "May sales indicate summer sales are off to a solid start," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "With the arrival of more new models later this year, we're ideally positioned to take advantage of the strengthening market." Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in May included the GLC, C-Class and GLE model lines. The GLC took the lead at 6,424, followed by C-Class sales of 5,419. The GLE rounded out the top three with 3,657 units sold. Mercedes-AMG high-performance models sold 2,628 units in May, with a total of 12,954 units sold year-to-date. Hyundai Motor America Reports May 2018 Sales Total Sales Up 10 Percent Highest SUV Sales Month in Company History with 28,777 Sold; SUVs Represent 44 Percent of Sales Elantra Sales Up 27 Percent Kona Sales of 5,079 as Inventory Reaches All Hyundai Dealers FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America reported May sales of Hyundai- and Genesis-branded vehicles of 66,056 units, a 10 percent increase in comparison with May 2017. Hyundai's double digit increase was driven by its SUV family that again set several records. For the third month in a row, Hyundai reached its all-time SUV sales mark with sales up 41 percent over May of last year. Kona retailed more than 5,000 units as it solidly establishes itself in the segment with sales up 53 percent compared with April 2018. Tucson also had its best month ever with 12,991 total units, its 15th consecutive monthly record. Rounding out Hyundai's SUV family, Santa Fe sales were up 9 percent. In Hyundai's car lineup, Elantra had a strong month as sales increased 27 percent year over year, while Hyundai recently unveiled a new Sonata pricing strategy that delivers even more content and value throughout the various packages and trims.   8. Porsche Reports May 2018 U.S. Sales Porsche clocks second month in a row with more than 5,000 customer deliveries ATLANTA, June 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman, Panamera, Macan and Cayenne model lines, today announced May 2018 sales of 5,005 vehicles. This represents year-over-year growth of 4.2 percent, the fifth consecutive monthly record since January. Overall, sales for the first five months are up 6.4 percent from a year ago to 24,529 vehicles. "This is a new level of Porsche fascination. Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 1, 2018… Sales of BMW Group vehicles in the U.S. increased 3.4 percent in May 2018 for a total of 30,888 vehicles (BMW and MINI brands combined), compared with 29,881 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Mazda Reports May Sales Results Mazda CX-3 Posts Best-Ever Sales Month IRVINE, Calif., June 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total May U.S. sales of 29,980 vehicles, representing an increase of 15.1 percent versus May of last year. Year-to-date (YTD) sales through May are up 14.9 percent versus last year, with 137,031 vehicles sold. With 26 selling days in May 2018, versus 25 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 10.7 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis. Key May sales notes: Mazda6 led the charge, posting a sales increase of 63.8 percent year-over-year (YOY), with 4,437 vehicles sold in the month of May.This increase was led by the launch of the new 2018 Mazda6, which is now available in more trim options than before, including the introduction of a Signature trim level, which had previously only been available on the CX-9. Mazda CX-5, Mazda's award-winning crossover SUV, returned to record-breaking sales, posting its best-ever May sales of 14,173 vehicles, marking an increase of 19.9 percent YOY. FCA US Reports May 2018 Sales FCA US reports best month of retail sales since July 2005 Jeep® brand reports record May of total sales, up 29 percent Jeep Wrangler reports record May of total sales, up 26 percent Ram Light Duty retail sales rise 18 percent in May June 1, 2018 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC today reported sales of 214,294 vehicles in May 2018, an 11 percent increase compared with sales of 193,040 vehicles in May 2017. U.S. retail sales for the month rose 10 percent to 167,785, making it the highest month of retail sales since July 2005 when 219,045 vehicles were sold. It was also the best May since 2004. Retail sales accounted for 78 percent of total sales. Fleet sales accounted for 22 percent of total sales, a slight uptick from 21 percent for May 2017. Jeep® Brand Jeep brand total sales rose 29 percent to 97,287 vehicles, making it the best May in the company’s history. Driving the brand was the Jeep Wrangler as total sales rose 26 percent to 25,102 vehicles. The results marked the best May ever. Meanwhile, Jeep Compass total sales rose to 17,327 vehicles, making it the best month of sales ever. Ram Truck Brand Ram Truck brand total sales rose 2 percent to 51,884 vehicles compared with the previous year. Ram Light Duty retail sales rose 18 percent in May to 27,011 vehicles. Chrysler Brand Chrysler brand total sales declined 18 percent in May to 14,724 vehicles compared with the same month a year ago. Dodge Brand Dodge brand total sales rose 4 percent to 46,581. The Dodge Journey notched a new May record as monthly sales increased 37 percent to 10,966 vehicles. FIAT Brand Sales of Fiat declined 46 percent to 1,441 vehicles. Alfa Romeo Brand Alfa Romeo brand sales of 2,377 vehicles were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago. Giulia led the brand with 1,175 sales, followed by Stelvio at 1,183 sales.
