ev truck Euro EV Truck, Not for the US
G. David Felt posted a topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Euro EV Truck, Not for the US 59 horsepower, 167 pound feet of torque, 22 kilowatt battery pack, and a 100 mile range a Ford F150 this is not. Yet as I have stated in other forums and auto threads, I truly believe inner city folks as well as city governments would love to have a true mini pickup, not a mid or full size, but a true mini pickup truck that seats 2 people and can still carry a decent amount of weight. In this case, 1,400 pounds. Kolle, a conversion company in France is taking the Renault Kangoo Z.E. electric delivery van and converting it into a pickup truck. Clearly you still have reminders that this was more than a truck by the high sides, stagecoach doors in back and tall tail lights. The conversion costs $16,400 US based on current exchange rates. Since Renault does not sell in the US, you will not see this little EV mini truck here, but the thoughts of taking the Nissan e-NV200 electric minivan and converting it does ring a decent idea. Makes one wonder if GM would consider doing this to their city express minivan which is from Nissan. Possible decent way to grow the EV segment by taking the production line of Nissan / Chevrolet minivans and adding to the EV van offering with an EV mini truck offering. green car report story-

The Nissan Titan XD is heading down to Australia. No, Nissan isn't importing into the country. Instead, Australian conversion specialist and importer Performax International will be bringing the truck to Australia. Performax will be offering the Titan XD in a regular or crew cab with prices ranging from $105,000 to $139,000 AUD ($79,119.89 to $104,739.66). A large chunk of the cost comes from the company converting the truck from left-hand to right-hand drive. The only engine Performax will offer is the 5.0L Cummins turbodiesel V8 with 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. Servicing can be done at various service centers around Australia. Performax has a history of converting vehicles to RHD. Currently, the company offers conversions of the Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, Ford's F-Series trucks, and Toyota Tundra. Those who want some V8 muscle after the current Holden Commodore goes away have a new option from an Australian company. Motor reports that Crossover Car Conversions (CCC) has announced they can import a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and convert it to right-hand drive for only $150,000 AUD (yikes!). What does this $150,000 AUD sum get you? First, it gets you the Camaro that will cost $79,000 AUD. Here is the rest of the pricing breakdown: Shipping - $5,000 5 percent import tariff - $3,000 Luxury Car Tax (LCT) - $6209 GST - $8200 Conversion to RHD: $44,000 The process will take around six months with the conversion taking about eight to ten weeks. But if you can hold off, there is the possibility of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro arriving in Australia in 2021 or later. Source: Motor

Nothing fancy today, but found these two videos of a guy who bought this 1939 Dodge Brothers 1/2 ton pickup for $250.00, cleaned it up and then decided to make it an EV. Pretty Cool if you ask me! Part 1 Part 2

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com El(ectric) Camino EV Conversion Howdy all, so I have been hanging out looking into what the EV conversion crowd has been doing out at diyelectric car forums. http://www.diyelectriccar.com/ This site has a great assortment all focused on taking any type of auto or kit car and building it as an electric auto. You will find DIY Kits, DIY Plans, DIY Projects, you name it, they pretty much cover it. A very die hard group of people about having the world run on electric motors. For Camino, I thought he would love this project. A guy bought an old ElCamino and is converting it to electricity. Using a pair of Warp 11 motors, he is over 600HP and 1000 lbs of torque. The forum section on all conversions is found here: http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/all-ev-conversions-and-builds-2.html The guy does post about his ElCamino EV conversion or as he is calling it the El(ectric) Camino. Better yet for best photos and up to date info he has his own blog on the whole conversion and his son is helping him from welding to new diffs, etc. http://electriccamino.blogspot.com/ Check it out, some pretty cool stuff going on here.
