It may not seem like big news that late last month that Lexus launched the seventh-generation ES in Japan. But it becomes that when you consider that Lexus has never sold the ES outside of the U.S. and China for most of its life. Plus, Lexus has only been on sale in Japan since 2005. The introduction of the ES is somewhat surprising, considering sales of full-size cars are falling in the country. But Lexus believes the ES can buck that trend as there is "expanding demand for premium rides", and the vehicle being aimed at executives between their 40s or 50s. The company is also planning to ramp up marketing efforts on the sedan. One example is hour-long test drives of every Lexus model at the Lexus Meets lounge in Tokyo. It seems to be paying off as Automotive News reports that model has 2,000 preorders - 70 percent of those are current Lexus customers. Lexus has set a sales of 350 models per month. "We are still a young brand. We will offer experiences that surprise new customers through marketing and step up our exposure," said Lexus International President Yoshihiro Sawa. Last October, we reported that PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was considering a return to the U.S. “We want to make DS a global premium brand, and you cannot be global without the U.S.,” said DS CEO Yves Bonnefont. Now a final decision as to whether or not the DS brand would come to the U.S. isn't expected till 2017 at the earliest. But Car and Driver reports that Citroën is leaning towards yes. Speaking with sources at the french automaker, Car and Driver reports that a move into the U.S. market is “necessary” and that it might take place within the next few years. But Citroën faces some huge hurdles if they decide to go forward with the DS brand. The French automaker hasn't had a presence in the U.S. since the mid-seventies and most people don't know the importance of the DS name. The original DS introduced in the fifties sent shockwaves in the automotive world. The model set new standards in aerodynamics and comfort. Citroen would produce the DS for twenty years, making it one of the most important models in automotive history. Source: Car and Driver View full article

It has been awhile since we reported anything on Acura's upcoming NSX supercar, but the fine folks at What Car? had the chance to speak with the NSX's head of development Ted Klaus, who has revealed some intriguing information. Klaus revealed that the NSX promises to bring the performance of a Ferrari 458 Italia for the pricetag of an Audi R8, something that the previous NSX promised to do as well. We have to achieve the type of acceleration that the customer is achieving with the Ferrari. More importantly we have to achieve this every day and also at the Nurburgring," said Klaus. "I think we are aiming within the range of the Audi R8. I realise that is a wide range but the NSX will still be extremely accessible." Klaus also revealed that the company is planning a number of different body styles and power outputs. The NSX is expected to arrive in 2015 for North America, while Europe has to wait till 2016. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 3, 2013 General Motors has been hard at work on the North American versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon and we know the trucks will be arriving sometime after the new Silverado and Sierra. Now it seems we have a possible timeframe of when these mid-size bruisers will be arriving. The Detroit Free Press recently talked with GM's President of North America, Mark Reuss. Reuss revealed that introduction of the Colorado and Canyon would be timed with the introduction of the next-gen Ford F-150, which is expected to come out around late 2014 or early 2015. “We are going to have a midsize truck that we launch right down the alley. When they bring out their F-150, we are going to have something no-one else has,” Reuss said. That something will be a pickup that will be slightly larger than a current Toyota Tacoma and be aimed those who want a pickup to haul things around, but want better fuel economy. “There is a buyer out there that doesn’t need everything that a full size truck does. We are going at it with Chevrolet on a lifestyle basis that will be quite different than a Silverado and we are going to go at it with GMC with professional grade capability in a little bit smaller truck with all of the fuel efficiency and fuel economy,” said Reuss.
