  1. Three weeks ago, at the New York International Auto Show, Nissan unveiled the 2015 Murano. The Murano has always been a crossover with more curvaceous lines than the rest of its peers and this new version is no exception. As it was so soon after the NY Auto Show, I was caught off guard today during a trip from Indianapolis, IN to Columbus, OH by these two 2015 Murano prototypes cruising on I-70 with no camouflage. The silver one looked fairly complete and wearing all of its trim, while the black one had clearly been taped up with plastic previously and was missing several exterior trim pieces. You can clearly see the “floating roof” treatment that Nissan is trying out with this model by blacking out part of the D-pillar. The 2015 Murano will be powered by a carryover 3.5 liter VQ-V6 producing 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. An updated version of Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission will contribute to the reported 20% gain in fuel economy over the existing model. The 2015 Nissan Murano goes on sale late this year. click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge

  3. November 26th, 2013 Drew Dowdell Managing Editor - CheersandGears.com It is a couple of days before the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. and most of the northern and eastern parts of the country are bracing for a major snow storm to hit. In spite of the pending holiday and the forecast of 4" of snow in Pittsburgh, it is still a work day for Hyundai engineers. A reader spotted this 2015 Hyundai Genesis stopping for a lunch break in downtown Pittsburgh on the same day Hyundai unveiled the details and pictures for the Korean marketplace. Based on the Hyundai HCD-14 Concept we saw in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai is wasting no time bringing this to market. Click image to enlarge While the Korean market Genesis offers a selection of 4 engines, buyers in the US will likely continue to choose between mildly revised versions of the familiar 3.8 litre V6 and the 5.0 litre V8. Both engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmissions pushing power to the rear wheels or through a new all-wheel-drive system Hyundai has dubbed HTrac. As one expects with the redesign of a high end luxury sedan, the Korean market Genesis comes with a host of new safety features and technology including: higher use of high-strength steel, emergency steering support, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, haptic steering warning system, and parking assist. We can expect most, if not all of those features to make it to the U.S. market model. The American debut will likely be in January at the Detroit Auto Show. In the meantime Hyundai Engineers, have a Happy Thanksgiving playing in the snow! Hyundai's press release for the Korean market Genesis can be viewed here. Hat Tip to Eric

  5. November 10th 2011 - Drew Dowdell CheersandGears.com The 2012 Honda CR-V was spied without camo just days before its official unveiling at the LA AutoShow. Power train rumors include a new 201 horsepower 2.5 liter 4-cylinder with 177 ft-lb of torque as a optional engine while the existing 2.4 will the base model and drop from 180 horsepower to 175. The transmission will remain a 5-speed model like the current Civic. Honda claims that its recent troubles with parts supply from a flooded Taiwan will not effect the CR-V launch as it has with the Civic.
