It seems we will be seeing the next-generation Porsche Panamera faster than anyone expected. Porsche announced yesterday they would reveal the 2017 Panamera on June 28th. Along with this announcement, Porsche released a teaser video for the model. There isn't much the video tells us about the sedan as it mostly spends its time talking about how people thought they were crazy for doing various things (like putting the engine in the rear). But thanks to the folks at Car, we have gotten our first look at a couple of undisguised Panamera mules. The basic shape remains, but it seems better proportioned and slightly sleeker. The back end borrows some ideas from the updated 911 with similar taillights and possibly rear tailgate design. The Panamera will be the first model to feature the new MSB platform that will underpin the next-generation Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur. The platform will cut a significant amount of weight thanks to the use of high-strength steel, aluminum, and composite materials. We know Porsche will have a wagon alongside the standard sedan, but Car says there will be a long-wheelbase sedan as well. Source: Porsche, Car Magazine

We have been waiting to get our first look at the next-generation Buick Regal since spy shots of Opel Insignia first surfaced back in August. Well today, Motor Authority got their hands on the first spy shots of the next Regal. Much like the Insignia spy shots, the Regal mule is heavily camouflaged. But there is on detail that we can pull from the pictures. It looks like Buick is sticking with the sedan design. The Insignia spy shots revealed a fastback roof that was similar to the Audi A7. The Regal is expected to use the E2XX platform that currently underpins the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. It is expected that Opel will reveal the Insignia at the Paris Motor Show in October. The Regal will follow shortly thereafter. Source: Motor Authority

Spying: Mazda Koeru Concept Transitions To CX-4 or CX-6 Production Model
William Maley posted an article in Mazda
Mazda has another crossover waiting in the wings as two sets of spy shots from China show us. This new crossover's name is currently being debated by various websites as to call it the CX-4, CX-6, or CX-7. What we can tell you is this CX crossover looks to be a production version of the Mazda Koeru concept shown in Frankfurt last year. Comparing the various spy shots to pictures of the Koeru concept reveal Mazda has kept a lot of the concept's design for the production model. Such details as the front end that is similar to the CX-3 and CX-5 to the sharply raked rear end are present. Inside looks like every other Mazda with the same center stack design and control knob behind the transmission lever. CarNewsChina reports the Chinese-market version will get the choice of either a 2.0L or 2.5L four-cylinder. Expect similar options if this new CX comes to the U.S. As for when we'll see it, reports say either the Geneva Motor Show in March or the Beijing Auto Show in April. We're sure Ford would like to have kept their 2017 Fusion refresh a secret till next Monday where it debut at the Detroit Auto Show. But two different spy photographers have caught the 2017 Fusion with no camouflage. The front gets a new oval-ish grille shape with a mesh insert and reshaped headlights. There is also a more aggressive air intake in the center of the bumper. Around back is are a set of reshaped taillights. Sadly, we don't have any shots of what the interior will look like, but we expect Ford's SYNC 3 to play a big role. One item that is still up the air is whether or not there will be a performance oriented Fusion ST that we first saw back in September. We'll learn more about the 2017 Fusion when it debuts on January 11th. In the meantime, you can follow all 2016 Detroit Auto Show news here. Source: Autoblog, Motor Trend

Hyundai has given us a teaser sketch of their upcoming Ioniq - the hybrid/plug-in hybrid/electric model. But Autoblog got their hands on some new spy shots that give us our best look at the final product. The Ioniq's front end follows the same design as seen on the Tucson with a hexgonal grille and slim headlights. The side features a roofline that is similar to the Chevrolet Volt and Toyota Prius. Around back is a high decklid. Hyundai will show the Ioniq in South Korea next month. From there, it will hit Geneva and the New York auto shows. Source: Autoblog

Chevrolet is hard at work on getting the Bolt EV from the concept we first saw at the Detroit Auto Show to go into production for 2017. Yesterday saw the first spy shots of the Bolt's interior come into focus. The most noticeable feature is a large LCD screen which appears to be running a new version of Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system. Controls for audio and HVAC are right underneath the screen. There's also another LCD in the gauge cluster which appears to have a similar layout as the Volt. Source: Autoblog

While the spotlight at Volvo has been on the new XC90, the Swedish automaker is readying an encore with the replacement for the S80 flagship, the S90. A spy photographer caught a heavily camouflaged S90 mule undergoing some testing this week. While we can't make out all of the styling cues that the S90 will feature, there are a couple of key items we can. First, Volvo looks to giving the S90 a broad grille that first debuted on the XC90. Also, the front headlights appear to have a set of LEDs running across the middle. Rumors have the S90 taking some design ideas from the recent Concept Estate. Volvo will be using their Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform for the S90. Power will likely include the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 316 horsepower (T6) and the plug-in hybrid T8. The S90 is expected to debut sometime later this year. Source: Carscoops View full article

It seems to be real. The 'it' we are referring to is the Ford Focus RS, which has been long rumored, but now appears to be real. A set of spy shots were released today showing a camouflaged Focus ST that is believed to be an RS mule. Clues that lead to this assumption begin up front with the heavily camouflaged front end that appears to have a larger front grille, possibly hinting at a larger engine. Rumors have a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder with 300-plus horsepower. Along the side are a unique tire and wheel package: Nineteen-inch wheels wrapped in super-sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The front also appears to have large brakes, which are rumored to be from Brembo. The back has a new bumper with dual rear exhausts, not the center mounted one on the ST. One item still up in the air is whether the Focus RS will remain front-wheel drive, or go to a all-wheel drive setup. Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. It looks a refresh is coming soon to the Buick Verano. A fresh set of spy shots were released this week showing a camoflaged mule undergoing some testing in Germany. Much like the Regal, the Verano is a Opel/Vauxhall vehicle (the Astra sedan in this case) with some Buick clothing. Judging from the photos, it looks like Verano will get some more Astra design cues, most notable in the headlights and taillights. But there will still be a number of Buick design cues like the waterfall grille. The refreshed Verano is expected to arrive next year. There appears to be three different Chevrolet Cruzes in play; the refreshed 2015 Cruze, the Chinese market Cruze, and the upcoming 2016 Cruze that was recently caught by a spy photographer. Caught undisguised, the 2016 Cruze shares a number of design items with the Chinese-market version that give it a somewhat tidy, if somewhat boring design. The front end wears a nose that is similar to the Sonic with the spilt grille and sculpted hood. The overall profile reminds us of the current Honda Civic. What is still unknown is what will power the next Cruze, but one or more of the engines from the Next-Generation Ecotec family going into production later this year is most likely. We expect to learn about that in the coming year or so. Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. The rumors of the flagship emanating from Cadillac have been written and talked about for the past few years. But as of this week, the flagship appears to be given the green light as evidenced by spy shots. While General Motors has made sure to layer on the cladding to disguise many details of the new flagship, there are a few items we can pick out. For one, the design ideals from the new CTS are very apparent in the flagship's design with sharp-edges and a blocky design. We can also make out the large grille up front. The new flagship is rumored to be riding on GM's new Omega rear-drive platform. Powertrains are up in the air, but we wouldn't be surprised if the twin-turbo 3.6L V6 is one of the engines available. Transmissions could range from an eight-speed all the way to a ten-speed. As for the name, many reports say it could be LTS. Land Rover is in the midst of redesigning and changing up its lineup. They have just finished working on the Range Rover family and are turning their attention to the rest of the lineup. Case in point is the replacement for the Land Rover LR2 which was caught by spy photographers this week. The Discovery Sport as its being called by Automobile Magazine looks to be taking some cues from the Range Rover Evoque in the front with rounded, aerodynamic nose. Other details we can gleam include a high ground clearance and a horizontal roofline. Automobile Magazine goes onto say the new Discovery Sport will use a modified version of the Evoque's platform and come in five and seven-passenger models. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 20, 2013 Sometimes, you get very lucky when taking spy shots. Case in point, new spy shots came out today revealing the face of the upcoming 2015 Mustang. The shots show the new Mustang sharing almost the same figure as the Ford Evos concept. The front has an athletic stance and features such touches as slimmer headlights and a hexagonal grille. The 2015 Mustang is expected to debut next year Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears.
