American Honda Posts March Sales Increase as Balanced Sales of Cars and Trucks Propel Honda and Acura Apr 3, 2018 Honda brand sets new March record for total sales, rising 2.6% AHM trucks set new March sales record with an increase of 7% Honda brand truck sales jump 7% for best March sales Acura TLX leaps 43% for best ever March sales; RDX gains 17% Honda Sales Highlights Honda found fresh momentum with a new total vehicle sales record in March as Accord continued to gain ground, Civic set a new record, and light trucks set several new benchmarks. Honda brand sales set a new March record, gaining 2.6% on sales of 128,855 Accord sales topped 24,000 for the month, moving up vs. last month while competing in a declining segment dominated by heavy incentives. Pilot jumped 42.4% on sales of 14,158; Odyssey rose 27.8% on sales of 9,873. HR-V had its best-ever March, rising 1.3% on sales of 7,753 vehicles. Civic gained 3.4% on sales of 32,584 units. Acura Sales Highlights Acura brand sales gained sharply in March, rising 15.7% as sedans enjoyed major gains, fueled primarily by record TLX sales and a strong month for RDX. Total Acura car sales were up 35.2% in March, while trucks gained 6.4% for the month. TLX starred for Acura, posting record March sales of 4,014, up 42.6% vs. March 2017. The sporty V6 A-Spec model has sparked new interest in TLX, as a new 4-cyl. A-Spec model enters the market today. RDX sales also were robust in March, up 16.7% on sales of 4,398 units as the brand looks ahead to an all-new 2019 RDX this summer.

American Honda trucks have best-ever March sales. rising 8.4 percent Honda Division trucks also set new March record with a 12.6 percent gain Honda CR-V sails past previous March best with a 23 percent increase Honda HR-V continues record pace, gaining 19.6 percent for the month Acura MDX sales rise 1.3 percent in March ahead of new Sport Hybrid model launch American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported total March sales of 137,227 Honda and Acura vehicles, a decrease of 0.7 percent over March 2016. Honda Division was up 1.8 percent on sales of 125,531 units while Honda trucks set a new March record, gaining 12.6 percent on sales of 61,975. Acura Division sales were down 21.2 percent in March, on sales of 11,696 vehicles. Honda Led by trucks with a record month and bolstered by resilient car sales, Honda Division gained 1.8 percent in March. CR-V and HR-V continued their hot streaks, both blowing double-digit holes in their own March records while Ridgeline also made a notable contribution. On the passenger car side, Fit was up 6.1 percent while Civic topped 31,000 sales. Accord posted a strong March with 26,824 new buyers. Honda trucks had best ever March sales, gaining 12.6 percent on sales of 61,975 CR-V led truck gains with a March record of 32,872 vehicles, up 23 percent HR-V set a new March record, rising 19.6 percent on sales of 7,653 Ridgeline sales surpassed 3,700 units in March With another strong month of nearly 32,000 in sales, Civic was easily the best-selling passenger car in America on a retail basis in the first quarter of 2017 "Many automakers are looking for signs of market stability as consumers continue to head towards trucks and SUVs," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division. "But cars are still a compelling choice for many, especially when you have the right formula. Civic is a great example." Acura Strong sales of Acura trucks in March continued to set the pace for the Acura brand, even as the company prepared to launch the MDX Sport Hybrid—the third and newest installment of the brand’s high-performance Sport Hybrid technology—along with the Acura NSX supercar and RLX Sport Hybrid model. The new MDX is the latest salvo in the evolving Acura lineup prioritizing performance through both powertrain and design. And on April 11, a refreshed and significantly enhanced 2018 TLX will be revealed in New York, bringing the Acura Precision Concept-inspired design language to the sedan lineup. MDX sales totaled 4,141 units in March, up 1.3 percent over 2016 "With the Acura MDX already posting strong sales in the luxury SUV segment, the new MDX Sport Hybrid adds a new performance dimension to provide greater market visibility of our performance hybrid technology and greater purchase consideration for Acura products," said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of the Acura division.   7. Mazda Reports March Sales 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Continues Hot Streak with Its Best March Since 2008 IRVINE, Calif. (April 1, 2016) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported March U.S. sales of 23,396 vehicles, representing a decrease of 27.2 percent versus last year. Year-to-date sales through March are down 17.2 percent versus last year, with 64,643 vehicles sold. Key March sales notes: The World Car of the Year-winning 2016 MX-5 continues to sell at a brisk pace with a 104.9-percent YOY increase and the best March for MX-5 since 2008. In its seventh full month of sales, Mazda CX-3 enjoyed its second-best sales month ever with 1,748 units sold. With class-leading EPA-estimated fuel economy and a starting MSRP of $31,520, the all-new. 2016 CX-9 three-row crossover SUV is set to go on sale early this summer. Inventory for outgoing 2015 CX-9 vehicles is nearly sold out across the U.S. Mazda reported Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) March sales of 3,523 vehicles, down 11 percent YOY. Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported March sales of 4,055 vehicles, down 8.0 percent versus last year. Year-to-date sales for MMdM are up 12.0 percent with 14,044 vehicles sold. BMW Group U.S. Reports March 2016 Sales BMW brand sales decrease 12.5 percent MINI brand sales decrease 18.3 percent Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 1, 2016… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 12.5 percent in March for a total of 30,033 compared to 34,310 vehicles sold in March, 2015. Year-to-date, BMW brand is down 10.0 percent on sales of 70,613 compared to 78,492 sold in the first three months of 2015. Of particular note in March, were strong increases in the sales of BMW Sports Activity Vehicles, in particular the BMW X1 and the BMW X3. The popular new BMW 7 Series continues its sales success, increasing by 16.1 percent over March 2015. “It’s been a tumultuous first quarter of the year for business in the U.S. with plenty of volatility even in the premium vehicle segment,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The desire for premium Sports Activity Vehicles continues accelerating at a strong pace in the U.S. and I’m very pleased that our SAV plant in South Carolina will make another production increase in the months ahead to help us satisfy the ever-growing demand for our X models.” BMW Group Sales In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported March sales of 34,795 vehicles, a decrease of 13.3 percent from the 40,139 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 10.8 percent on sales of 81,452 in the first three months of 2016 compared to 91,269 in the same period in 2015. MINI Brand Sales For March, MINI USA reported 4,762 automobiles sold, a decrease of 18.3 percent from the 5,829 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 10,839 automobiles sold, a decrease of 15.2 percent from 12,777 automobiles sold in the first three months of 2015.
  9. VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA REPORTS MARCH 2016 SALES RESULTS March sales totaled 26,914 units Tiguan delivered 3,519 units, a 53 percent increase, marking the best March ever for the vehicle. Herndon, VA — (April 1, 2016) Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported sales of 26,914 units delivered in March 2016. The Tiguan produced the best March results on record for the vehicle with 3,519 vehicles delivered, a 53 percent increase over March 2015. “We are pleased with the continued strong performance of the Tiguan,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. “While overall sales saw a decline for the month, Volkswagen dealers improved in terms of retail business.” In March, Volkswagen debuted the next member of the Golf family with the U.S. production version of the all-wheel-drive Golf Alltrack. The Golf Alltrack, which goes on sale in the Fall as a 2017 model, is based on the Golf SportWagen and includes 4MOTION® all-wheel drive, body cladding, additional ground clearance, and “Off-Road Mode” which adds hill descent control and optimizes traction control. Deliveries of the Golf family totaled 4,495 vehicles in March. This represents the company’s best sales performance for March and first quarter since 2006. Total Ford brand SUVs are off to their best start in company history, with first quarter total sales of 188,100 – up 15 percent versus a year ago. March SUV sales also were up 13 percent with 72,872 SUVs sold, marking the best March performance in 15 years. For the month, Edge was up 49 percent, Escape was up 8 percent and Explorer was up 4 percent. F-Series sales exceeded 70,000 in March, with 73,884 trucks sold. 2007 is the last time F-Series broke the 70,000 mark this early in the year. F-Series sales rose 9 percent versus last year, marking their best March performance since 2006. For the quarter, F-Series sales totaled 186,121 – up 5 percent. Nissan Group reports March 2016 U.S. sales NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan Group today announced total U.S. sales for March 2016 of 163,559 units, an increase of 13 percent over the prior year and a best month ever record. Nissan highlights: Nissan Division finished March with 149,784 sales, up 13 percent, a best month ever record. Overall sales of Nissan crossovers, trucks and SUVs set a best month ever record, up 9 percent. Sales of the Rogue crossover set a best month ever record with sales 27,713, up 1 percent. Sales of the Murano crossover increased 56 percent to 8,657. Nissan’s total car sales set a best month ever record with 88,278 in sales, up 16 percent. Sales of the Sentra compact sedan increased 23 percent to 26,201, setting a March record. Nissan Versa sales increased to 12 percent to 16,255, setting a March record. Nissan Maxima sales climbed to 6,588, up 139%.
