  1. It has been a rough start for the 2019 Ram 1500 production line. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said on an earnings call last week that the Sterling Heights Assembly plant, home to the 2019 model is only operating at 60 percent of where the company wants it to be. Automotive News learned from sources at the FCA and suppliers that the plant was building around 1,000 trucks per day last week. "That's not where we need to be. We allowed enough time in 2017 to get that installation up, but it's proven to be challenging," said Marchionne. Why the low production rate? A union source explained there are a few reasons. One is that suppliers are having a difficult time with providing parts for two-generations of the Ram 1500 - FCA is planning on building the last-generation model to help keep sales up while production ramps up on the next-generation 1500. The Sterling Heights' plant is also undergoing construction for the 2019 Ram 1500, which cuts the number of trucks that can be built. Also, the union source said that some workers still lack proper training on building the new model. Another source said that more than 2,500 2019 Ram 1500s were sitting in holding areas due to an electrical issue. Once fixed, the trucks will be shipped out to dealers. Getting production up and running for the 2019 Ram 1500 is important for FCA. Marchionne said it and the redesigned Jeep Wrangler need smooth launches if the company wants to achieve its financial goals for this year. To this end, the company is planning on spending more than $300 million to get the production ramp-up back on track.   3. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles pushed out over-the-air update for the UConnect system on Friday and it is causing numerous problems. Jalopnik reports that the update is causing the UConnect system in 2017 and 2018 FCA models to constantly reboot every 45 seconds or so. Owners took to Twitter to vent their frustrations to the UConnectCares account saying how they lost audio, navigation, climate controls, and even the backup camera. Usually, a prompt would come up when an update is sent out with the ability to choose yes or not. But some owners tell Jalopnik they did not get a prompt, the update automatically installed. UConnectCares has acknowledged the problem and said there is a fix coming, although when it will come out is up in the air. It is unclear how many vehicles have this issue. Both Jalopnik and The Verge have reached out to FCA to get an official comment - we'll update you if and when they get it. In the meantime, there is a temporary solution. The Hooniverse reports that if you input a location into the navigation and mute the audio, the rebooting will stop. "As per Mister Mailman’s direction, this temporary fix does work well. It’s not perfect because when the system talks, even thought it is muted, it still mutes the driver’s speakers. It also constantly displays directions in the gauge cluster.   5. If you are planning to order a Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon Diesel, you might want to put those plans on hold. Members on the ColoradoFans.com have been wondering where their trucks are. Originally, it was expected that the Colorado and Canyon Diesels would begin arriving at dealers this fall, but that time has passed and trucks aren't at dealers. Ask a member what their experience has been like and it will likely go like this: I ordered a truck weeks ago, the delivery date keeps getting pushed back, and GM and dealers aren't explaining why. The Truth About Cars decided to investigate. They got a hold of GMC spokesman Brian Goebel who said, "Those trucks are still in final validations and we hope to ship soon.” General Motors' was quick to point out this isn't related to the extra scrutiny that EPA has been putting on diesel models. Gobel went on to say this 'final validation' issue only deals with the diesel models. But details of what issue is unknown. Also, Gobel pointed out that GM hasn't 'technically passed its initial on-sale date for Fall 2015.' They got about four days left before that changes. We'll be keeping a close eye on this story.   7. Morning all, Has anyone else upgraded to IE11 or Firefox 25? Are you running on windows 7 or Window 8 or 8.1? I have IE 11 and Firefox 25 on both Windows 7 and an upgraded 8.1 system. If you right mouse click on the quote button in a forum post and say open in a new tab, everything works fine and you can reply and post. Yet if you just click on the quote button it will take you to the field to type your reply but be blank. No quoted post will appear and the only way to make it work is to do the right mouse click and open in a new tab for quote replying. If you just click in the reply field to post a comment, it is a 50/50 chance that you will see your posting comment. It is easily fixed by clicking elsewhere in the browser window and then clicking back in the comment field and you can then type your comment and post it. Seems to be a loss of mouse focus but not sure if this is a browser issue for both browsers or maybe an incompatibility issue with the forum since both browsers are so new. Hope someone else has seen this issue, both my work laptop and my home desktop exhibit this behavior.
