  1. Earlier this month, we reported that Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division was embarking on its next project - a hardcore off-road brand named SVX. At the time, SVO Head David Edwards didn't go into further detail aside from announcing the project. But British publication Autocar has gotten some details about what the first SVX vehicle will be. The report says the first SVX vehicle will be the next-generation Discovery due out sometime next year. The SVX variant will follow a fair bit later and showcase the division's technical as well as mechanical ability on dealing with difficult terrain. Edwards to comment on specific models that are in development, but did say there was a market for these type of vehicles. “There is a market for more off-road capability, so of course we’re looking at it. In the US there’s a wide snowbelt, in the Middle East there’s extreme sand and in regions such as Australia and South Africa there is a need to cover very rugged terrain," said Edwards. “There’s a very interesting market for cars with usable capability,” he said. “The established German luxury competitors are there, but we think there’s an opportunity to offer something different and something more. We’re well planned to develop and exploit opportunities in that marke Source: Autocar View full article

  3. Jaguar Land Rover's SVO division has been hard at work on producing high-performance and more luxurious variants of Jaguar and Land Rover models. But coming soon, the division will begin leaving their mark on Land Rover with more hardcore off-road variants. Car and Driver spoke with the head of SVO, John Edwards about what's next. Edwards talked about a new set of models wearing the SVX badge (Sorry Subaru) that will boast “added capability”. Unfortunately, Edwards didn't go any further aside from saying looking at events like the Camel Trophy and Dakar Rally to see the inspiration for the new direction. The good news is that we won't be waiting too long for a Land Rover SVX model to be introduced. Source: Car and Driver
