G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Le Supercar to battle Tesla, Financed by Chinese Billionaire! Seems Frankfurt auto show is on an EV roll out as multiple companies show off their auto's and some especially interesting designs come from the electric auto segment. Thunder Power showed off their near production ready 4 door sedan and EV Racer car a cross between Speed racer and Fanboy racer game crowd. Now we have LeTV Billionaire announcing that he has hired 600 individuals from Tesla, BMW iCar, and GM's Volt groups to create from scratch an all new EV auto that will top what Tesla and others have shown to date. 200 if the folks work in the US with the other 400 in China. The Le Supercar production version will be introduced to the world at the 2016 Beijing auto show. He sees a completely connected auto that can have media streamed to it increasing profits to his LeTV corporation from around the world. Seems the EV auto is about to go main stream in the next few years. Big question is does this mean Karma is a bit late to the game or can it still survive with all the new auto startups? Bigger question, how soon before all the established auto companies have Tesla competitors for sale? Biggest question, Could this be an indicator of just how fast we could change from Petro to electric auto's world wide? If you happen to plan on seeing Transformers 4 at the theater, you should pay close attention to the scenes in China as some of those vehicles could be making their way to the U.S. Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd. (GAC) which has some of their Trumpchi vehicles in the film is planning on sending them to the U.S. as early as next year. "Our sponsorship of Transformers 4 will help more overseas dealers and consumers know about our cars and over the long run it will greatly contribute to our branding. We want to start exporting to the U.S. as quickly as possible and I am confident that they will find our Trumpchi cars competitive," said Wu Song, chief of the Trumpchi brand. The first model destined for the U.S. is the Trumpchi GS5 SUV. In China, the model is offered with a 2.0L four-cylinder with 145 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque or a 1.8L turbocharged four with 174 horsepower and 175 pound-feet. Either engine can be paired with a five-speed manual or automatic, and either front- or all-wheel drive. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 19, 2013 Last month, we reported that Fisker had two possible bidders for a possible stake in the company. The two bidders in question were Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and Dongfeng Motor Group. At the time, Fisker was leaning towards Geely due to the company's experience of acquiring a foreign automaker (Volvo) and management structure. But Geely has dropped their bid for Fisker. Two sources tell Reuters that the reason Geely dropped their bid was due to Fisker's obligations to the U.S. Government which included obligation to restore capacity and jobs at Fisker's Delaware plant according to a schedule imposed by the government. "Those obligations are too complicated to handle and seem too risky. The plan's footprint was too big. It would take a long, long time to fill up the plant with products and restore employment there," a source said. This leaves Dongfeng Motor Group as the sole bidder for Fisker. The company sent their final bid last week. As for those who think this was why former Fisker chairman and founder Henrik Fisker stepped down, sources explain this is not related.
