Porsche showed the Cayenne Coupe at an event in Stuttgart yesterday. The Cayenne Coupe is a more athletic version of the Cayenne SUV already on sale. The more steep roofline tumbles to the rear in an elegant fashion. An adaptive roof spoiler as on the Cayenne Turbo helps with aerodynamic stability at higher speeds. The spoiler extends by 135 mm (5.3 in) at speeds over 90 km/h. In addition to increasing rear axle pressure, the spoiler improves fuel efficiency. Standard on the Cayenne Coupe is a panoramic fixed glass roof, but buyers can also option a lightweight carbon roof as part of one of three lightweight sport packages. The roof edge of the coupe has been lowered by 20 mm. On the glass roof versions, an integrated roller blind helps to protect passengers from sun and cold. Two engine options will be available at launch. A 6-cylinder 3.0 liter turbocharged engine with 335 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque is standard while a Cayenne Coupe Turbo gets a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 with 541 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. Top speed on the Turbo is 286 km/h (178 mph) and acceleration to 62 mph happens in just 3.9 seconds.

ATLANTA, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor in the United States of Porsche 918 Spyder, 911, Boxster, and Cayman sports cars, Macan and Cayenne SUVs, and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up, today announced February 2016 sales of 3,561 vehicles, up 11.2 percent over February 2015 (3,202). This sets a new February sales record for PCNA. The Macan model line continued to receive strong demand in February with 1,012 deliveries, resulting in a sales increase of 62.2 percent compared to the previous February. The Cayenne model line recorded 1,328 deliveries in February, an increase of 27.0 percent compared to the same month last year. Year to date, PCNA total sales are up 10.9 percent. Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales in the U.S. were 1,268 for February 2016, an increase of 33.5 percent compared to the same period last year. February represented the best CPO sales month for PCNA since the inception of the program. According to Motor Trend, one of those updates could be a new plug-in hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid, named e-Hybrid is an evolution of the current hybrid system used in the current Cayenne and Panamera Hybrid models. The system uses an upgraded electric motor producing around 95 to 100 horsepower and replacing the nickel-metal hydride battery for a lithium-ion battery. The 333-hp supercharged V-6 gas engine will stick around. These changes gives Cayenne e-Hybrid specs of 95 to 100 HP on EV mode, a range of possibly around 15 miles or higher, and a combined power output of 420. The Panamera is also expected to get this system. Unlike the Cayenne which will be AWD, the Panamera e-Hybrid will be RWD. Motor Trend's report also says the recently revealed Cayenne S Diesel with the 4.2L V8 could make its way to the U.S. People who are familar with the diesel and Porsche's plans say the V8 engine can meet U.S. regulations easily if there is a SCR after-treatment of the exhaust system. The Turbo S brought forth a 4.5L turbo V8 producing 520 HP. Well, Porsche is doing another Cayenne Turbo S for this generation. The Turbo S uses the same 4.8L turbo V8 from the Cayenne Turbo with some slight modifications. Performance stats are: 520 HP 553 lb-ft of torque 0-60 MPH in 4.2 Seconds Top Speed of 176 MPH Despite all of the performance increases, Porsche says the Turbo S doesn't see a significant change in fuel consumption. The Cayenne Turbo S' exterior gets some subtle changes which include 21-inch alloy wheels, smoked headlamps, gloss black accents on the lower part of the mirrors and bumpers, and rectangular quad tailpipes. Inside, there are new carbon fiber trim decors for the dashboard, door panels and center console and a two-tone leather upholstery with contrasting stitching. Standard equipment on the Turbo S include air suspension with active roll stabilization and damping control, torque vectoring system that works with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and the Sport Chrono package. The Cayenne S Diesel uses a turbocharged 4.2L V8 with direct injection that produces 382 HP and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. Porsche says the V8 diesel is their most powerful diesel engine ever. Its easy to see why when the Cayenne S Diesel posts a 0-60 MPH time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 157 MPH. The diesel V8 also has a stop-start system which helps the Cayenne S Diesel fuel economy of 8.3 liters per 100 km on the European cycle (roughly 28 MPG, albeit not on the EPA cycle).
