With a supercharged 6.2L V8 producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 looks to be giving a number of sports car a run for their money. But getting into one will cost you a fair penny. Chevrolet has announced the Camaro ZL1 will begin at $62,135 for the coupe and $69,135 for the convertible. Both prices include destination. “The Camaro ZL1 offers supercar performance with daily-driver refinement, a combination that stacks up against any other sports coupe – at any price – around the world,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet marketing. If that is a bit too much, Chevrolet has the 1LE package available for the LT and SS models. The LT 1LE comes with FE3 suspension package with stabilizer bars, mechanical limited-slip differential, upgraded cooling system, and four-piston Brembo brakes up front. The SS 1LE features the FE4 suspension package with magnetic ride control, electronic limited slip differential, six-piston Brembo brakes, and a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. Just when you thought it was safe to go back onto the racetrack, Chevrolet has announced the return of the 1LE package for the Camaro. Debuting tomorrow at the Chicago Auto Show, the 2017 Camaro 1LE will be available for the V8 and for the first time, the V6. Let us break down what you get with either engine. LT 1LE The V6 1LE - available on the LT - gets some equipment from the SS 1LE. This includes a new fuel system and the FE3 suspension package with stabilizer bars. Other items for LT 1LE include a mechanical limited slip differential, upgraded cooling system four-piston Brembo brakes for the front, 20-inch lightweight aluminum wheels, and set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. A black satin hood and suede interior accents dress up the 1LE. Optional will be a set of Recaro seats and Performance Data Recorder. SS 1LE The SS 1LE comes with the new FE4 suspension package with magnetic ride control, electronic limited slip differential, six-piston Brembo brakes on all four corners, 20-inch wheels, and a Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires specifically developed for this vehicle. Earlier this month, Chevrolet said the 1LE package would start under $40k. Well, it appears Chevrolet has kept that. The 1LE package adds $3500 to the base price of the 1SS and 2SS models, meaning the pricetag on a 1SS with the 1LE package begins at $37,035 (includes a $900 destination charge). As for the ZL1 convertible, that begins at $60,445 (includes a $900 destination charge). Like the ZL1 coupe, the convertible comes with the same 580 HP, 556 lb-ft of torque, supercharged 6.2L V8 and the Magnetic Ride Control suspension system. The ZL1 convertible also gets chassis bracing components like an underhood strut tower brace, front suspension “X” brace, and rear “V” braces.
