  1. I can throw a large turbo on an old Civic and accomplish the same thing. That's besides the point, I am responding to Reg's post. It has nothing to do with Neons.
  2. The RX8 has been overrated from the start. Here I found a nice video (all manual transmissions). The late Integra Type R (RSX Type S) even beat it. The '00-'04 S2000 left it in the dust. I wouldn't even want to see it up against an S2000 CR on the track. That would be embarrassing.
  3. Mazda is a mainstream brand competing with Honda. I'm quite surprised you would even remotely back the RX8, given it has even less torque than the "gutless" s2000, and weighs 200 lbs more to boot. In fact, the Japanese Civic Type R matches the RX8's torque output (a Civic!). The S2000 is faster than the RX8, the S2000 CR is even more so. I think the new Civic Type R may be quicker as well, but I don't remember the results from the Best Motoring video. The TL Type S also posts much quicker acceleration times, although they are not really comparable cars. Well considering how different the RL and Genesis are, I would say it makes cars like the 5-series sedan and STS pretty much useless. The RL, on the other hand, is still quite differentiated from the Hyundai. I'm not saying the Genesis is better, we have yet to see any tests. But it is more just a copycat of the M, 5, etc.
  4. I would be spooked too if I was used to ungainly Pontiac interiors and sat in an RL. While I'm not always a fan of Honda's way of making everything standard, the RL does include quite a lot for $47,000 (after destination). When did RWD and V8 become a requirement to be a luxury car. Lol, are you being serious??? I don't even know how to respond to this. Oh wait, I heard that the Miata is also making the Corvette its bitch. Runs circles around it! Look out world, Mazda is coming through!

It doesn't help with the perfect weight distribution, but the active measurements that SH-AWD employs help to counteract the shortcomings and then further enhance the vehicle's driving dynamics past what normal 2wd mechanical LSD applications can deliver. It's more complex than a simple helical limited-slip RWD application would be, which is it's major disadvantage (weight). Honda employs a special differential in the Japanese-only Civic Type R. It helps it to rotate like a RWD car, and the various road tests (by Best Motoring and others) confirm, as well as the track times that meet or beat the S2000! You bein sarcastic? :AH-HA_wink:
  6. If it's executed well and performs good. Has any reviewer driven the Genesis yet? The revisions to the RL include rear wheel overdrive in 1st gear (it used to not kick in until 2nd gear), and an increase in the % of the overdrive. What this means is that SH-AWD is much more aggressive than it used to be, and will be considerably more noticeable, especially at lower speeds. If marketed correctly, given that it is already superior to RWD, it will have plenty of credibility. The engine on the other hand, isn't going to help. It will perform better than before, but will still lack compared to V8 competition. Acura could have easily fixed this problem by offering a supercharged version of the V6, in a Type S trim. I'm fairly certain Mugen has already designed a supercharger for the 3.5L. But they didn't (or at least it doesn't appear that they will).

  8. It does look good for a Camry. Ok ok, the IS250/350 is a nice looking car (in certain colors and certain angles). I know why though, it's because Toyota spent all the money on the outside, and none on the interior. Not just a picture of an engine? How can they afford that?? Have you seen the back end of the new 6?

  10. I wouldn't put so much stock in the Genesis just yet. It will undoubtedly outsell the RL in its first year, however will it outsell what the RL sold in its first year? Perhaps.

  13. According to Car & Driver, the new TSX is supposed to come with 3 engine options. The standard 2.4L gas, new 2.2L turbodiesel (251 lb-ft torque), and they "expect" the TSX to also come with the RDX's 2.3L turbo gas motor, which wouldn't be surprising (but you never know).

  15. I guess you'll just have to buy the non-nav model won't you? :AH-HA_wink: Really I don't see any problem with the button-bashing that happens everytime Honda releases a new model. Owners don't seem to complain. It's just like when you get a new digital camera. The only ones that complain about functionality are the ones that never use it, and with a car you're using it every day. Well you can buy the 300+ lb-ft turbodiesel model. Or with luck it will be offered with a 2.3L turbo gas motor.
  16. After seeing the RL and knowing that the grill would find its way onto this, I am pleasantly surprised. I really like this car from this first picture. It is an evolution of the current TSX, but much more aggressive.

  18. First official picture of the 2009 TSX: Edmunds was the first to post it. I don't think they released any other shots. You can also get a Sonata for well under $30k! Why does anyone even bother with a TSX? I mean, they both got 4 doors right? One's cheaper. There ya go. Oh that's right, didn't the STS have the 4-speed on the base model?
  19. Here are some more spyshots. And a teaser is supposed to be released Monday (tomorrow). The current TSX is an incredible value as everyone else has stated. Want something cheap with a lot of horsepower? Go buy a MS3. That's not what the TSX is about. Up until this year, didn't the CTS used to start at 33k with a pretty lame-duck engine and 4-speed auto?
  20. Acura's models generally are "premium Honda's" in Japan, just as Infiniti's are Nissan's and Lexii are Toyota's. Except there is no TL, MDX, or RDX equivalent, those are USDM models only, and were designed in the US (which explains the difference in styling between TL/RL). I believe Toyota recently started marketing Lexus in Japan, and Honda may be doing so soon as well with Acura. Acura is going through growing pains, and is having trouble establishing an image, as evident with the ever changing corporate grill that they're trying to establish. But to close down would be ridiculous. Take a look at Acura's sales since 1986. There was a decline from 1992 through 1995, and then sales doubled from 1995 to 2004 (98,000 to 198,000). Then in 06 and 07 declines. So they've had two tough years, and it's time to close up shop? How many tough years has GM had?
  21. It has actually changed a lot more than you give it credit for (for better or for worse). It is a "refresh" not a new model. Significant exterior changes, a new engine (with vtec on exhaust for the first time on the SOHC V6 engines -still not sure how that works), much revised suspension and AWD system, and several new luxury features (10-way power passenger seat, heater/cooled, etc etc I don't remember most of the changes off the top of my head).
  22. It would be quite a spectacle though, NASCAR only having Toyota and Honda competing, just Camry's and Accord's. So the guy suggests that while we not only punish domestic automakers, but we destroy NASCAR at the same time. While we're at it, lets convert to a Monarchy! Yay
