  1. Now now, let's not get political. ...You commy liberal democrat. :P
  2. My brother went car shopping back in the summer, and pointed out something noteworthy. As it states in this article, the wheelbase of the MAXX is longer than the sedan, but the overall length is shorter. The hatch may allow for bulkier cargo in the MAXX, but the EPA dimensions allegedly suggest that cargo capacity is LOWER than that of the sedan. Still, the Maxx is a great buy for someone moving into a new house/apartment or starting a new life. It has great fuel economy along with a good amount of utility. Among other things, we had to buy a microwave because our old one blew out. Being a 2 cu. ft. microwave, that thing probably wouldn't have fit in the back seat, let alone through the opening of a modern sedan's trunk. For this reason, I am grateful that we're currently driving a minivan, and not my bustleback Seville. For the record, he bought a 2005 Impala.
  3. How much money is GM losing to the job bank? Is there a dollar figure on that somewhere? How great is its impact on GM's bottom line? Hell, even the people IN the bank should understand that getting paid for doing nothing can't last forever.
  4. That's the point I was trying to make. These guys want GM to do better so that they can trade up to that S-Class Mercedes... And they wonder why GM is unprofitable.
  5. It all depends on who catches the thread. I bet I miss a crapload of stuff just because it's not one of the newest threads.
  6. That song's just hilarious. It's so stupid it's somehow enjoyable.
  7. My sentiments exactly. I dislike Country music for the same reasons, and also find Johnny Cash to be an interesting musician. I have a copy of Johnny Cash singing "Personal Jesus". It's a much more entertaining cover than Marilyn Manson's.
  8. I hear Saab's performance is greatly improving. Oh wait, maybe that's Opel...
  9. I think the only reason anyone complains about power in the H3 is because its key competitor is the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which offers a Hemi V8 as an option. Then again, the H3 is much cooler looking. B)
  10. I don't like this guy's tone in the beginning of the article. Listen, do you want great cars, or do you want an overabundance of legacy costs? Because you can't have both in today's economy.
  11. I was gonna point that out, but not quite as sarcastically. I can't see the video from here (not a software or network issue, don't worry). I was wondering if someone could describe the damage to the Caprice vs the damage done to the Accord.
  12. Relax, it's just a bad chop. That's funny, though. This car shares its name with my cousin's wife's maiden name. It would be kinda like if there existed a car named the Aston Martin Dregors (using the only uncommon surname on this board I can remember).
  13. Wow. That's a pretty good, thought-provoking article. His comparison of the old hierarchy to the modern Economy / Luxury model is indicative of the slow fading middle-class.
  14. Cool review. I've been checking out the Maxx for a long time, and if I can get a decent SmartBuy price on it, I may just get one to replace the 97 Venture I've been driving.
  15. Damn. I was excited that they were going to actually replace the G-Wagon with something that fits the rest of their line-up. I respect their decision. Though, I still don't understand the appeal of driving a $100,000 30-year-old box.
  16. I prefer my stick shifts to be clear of any and all blood, thank you. B) Now... Yes, there should be a 4-cyl G6 Coupe. A: It's already offered in the Sedan. B: It would bring down the price and generate more sales. C: Since there's no Sunfire/Pursuit to speak of in the US, it would be a damn good entry-level car for Pontiac.
  17. Reporters tend to fail in mentioning GM's Employee Pricing program when talking about their drastic sales declines...
  18. Serious investment cash is going into each and every brand at this point. On top of that, these wall street nut jobs are asking GM to rehash the Farewell Oldsmobile episode, the one that Mark LaNeve just recently said GM still hasn't recovered from. Crap, if you think GM is a junk dealer, why don't you start trading its shares like one? Just start charging 2 cents a share for GM stock. It could be a moneymaking opportunity. Imagine the shock and horror among this group if Ford decided to off Jaguar, or (just for argument's sake) Toyota dumped Lexus. They don't care about Buick, Pontiac, Saturn, or any GM brand for that matter.
  19. Well I'll say what FOG will probably say, except not as aggressively as he might... Mark defends the media's harsh criticism on GM by more or less saying "we're doing it to help them out". For every article making GM out to be the protagonist, there are multiple that cast GM in a negative light. For the most part, they say, "The interior isn't refined enough. Buy a Toyota/Lexus/BMW!" None of them say, "We want GM to do good, but..."
  20. Where's Toyota and Nissan's competitor to this!? :P
  21. #4 is cool. I'll just say Studebaker for participation purposes only.
  22. I know a guy who used to have a pair of DeLoreans. I distinctly remember them having windows with a horizontal split (window can't roll down all the way due to the shape of the door, I'm guessing).
  23. What can I say? It's a very distinctive door pull. :)
  24. Happy birthday, you magnificent bastard. B) Keep on flyin'.
  25. Chevy SSR.
