  1. I can't think of anything off-hand, but there are some words that trigger an entirely irrelevant thought process in my head. I was watching some sort of psychological video on the subject once. They gave the example that if a kid in the midst of puberty were to go to a pizza shop and an attractive woman sold him pizza, he would then associate "pizza" with sex. It's things like that. Funny how our brains work, isn't it?
  2. SRX got a MCE. This survey also possibly marks the first time the 06 DTS quality numbers have been reviewed. Not to mention the 2007 Escalade, EXT, and ESV.
  3. If the Tundra bed is shaking that much, what about the cargo inside it? Loose cargo will bounce around and potentially hurt someone if it is projectiled from the cab. Bed caps and covers could shatter or break over rough terrain such as that. Has Toyota taken this into consideration. .Also, if you buy a pick-up truck and don't use it like one - you know, at least once or twice - I would like to understand the logic behind it.
  4. Aw crap. GM needs to get right on those quality numbers. It looks like they've slipped a bit over the past few years.
  5. I do want to see the movie, but I'm probably gonna wait for it to come out on DVD. I do want to drive a Camaro, but I'm probably gonna wait for it to show up on the used car lots. I'm cheap.
  6. It's a lot different from our stuff, to say the least.
  7. Last Seen: 2 Jun 2007If his profile is any indication, he still lurks from time to time.
  8. The design is sort of a blend between Chrysler cars and Nissan trucks. There's not much you can do to any part of a car without making it absolutely polarizing. A certain degree of blandness (tried and true design) is required.
  9. Those tail lamps suffer because they look too cheap and aftermarket for a luxury car. I'm usually not a fan of Altezza tail lamp styling, but when done tastefully, it works. These are not tasteful. These don't work. I like the old tail lamps better for the convertible. Those had the gloss over effect going for them. A nice, upscale touch.
  10. I'd like to play the "resale value" card when it comes to integrated head units. As RavenFreak says: Head unit breaks, it's easier to repair / replace the unintegrated model. My typical argument: A new media format becomes popular, and you want your car to be able to utilize it (hey, it's happened before). With an integrated unit, you either have to plug the new hardware into the AUX jack and have cumbersome and easily stolen hardware lying around, or you can't upgrade at all. I offer one hypothetical scenario: integrated 8-track player. Would you still pay the same amount of money for that 1972 Chevelle for boulevard cruising?
  11. Think of all the NON car enthusiasts who buy Camry after Camry after Camry after...
  12. Right handed, with a hint of ambidexterity. I can write with both hands, but much slower with the left hand. That said, my left-handed handwriting is legible, which is more than can be said for some people's handwriting.
  13. Cool. [political rant] How many of these trains will be bombed to bits by terrorists when they make shipments to Israel? [/political rant]
  14. I'm apparently alone in this line of thinking, but I prefer the exterior design of the new xB to the old model. I don't really care about the interior, though, since I don't plan on ever sitting in one. And the XD will forever be a joke to Internet savvy Americans coast-to-coast.
  15. The rims are so big that the car had to be raised several inches from its normal ride height. That's just crazy. Know what I want to see? I want to see the world of Monster Trucks collide with the world of bling. Picture 72" chrome rims.
  16. I like this text from the article:
  17. I like the idea that with the E-Flex system, the actual power source can be pretty much anything. I just hope there isn't too much power loss through the system itself. I also hope this elaborate powertrain won't come at too much of a premium. These are pretty lofty goals to hit. If GM can reach them, then they'll have a hit. If not, they won't get that #1 spot back any time soon...
  18. I frequently took the 1997 Olds Achieva on a 315-miles-each-way road trip when it was still around. It had over 115,000 miles on it when we bought it, which for an Achieva is apparently a lot. It never really broke down completely on me, but I've had a few experiences with it: - January, 2003: Blew out a tire, with another 100 or so miles to go before getting home. Turned out the donut spare was... useless. Thank God that the place my tire popped was right near by where one of my cousins lived. Thank Him again that my cousin happens to be married to a mechanic, who found a Subaru wheel at his shop that (almost) fit the Achieva's bolt pattern. After boring out the wheel's center hole, he was able to get it to fit well enough for me to make it the rest of the way home. - October, 2004: Was making a trip to get home in time for a job interview, when the engine decided to stall out on me ON the George Washington Bridge. Lower Level. Center Lane. Pain in the ass. That car had a stalling problem for awhile, attributed both to cheap gas fill-ups and a coolant problem. I made it off the GWB without major incident, but I couldn't even hear if the starter was working or not because of the noise on the bridge. The engine almost overheated afterwards, because the coolant all leaked out. The Achieva came very close to costing me the interview, but it made it, and I got the job.
  19. This is why there is an emphasis on small cars having large bumpers that will catch SUV bumpers, and an emphasis on CUVs with bumpers that meet on the same level as a car's bumper. Side impact, while on average better than what's seen here, still has a long way to go in protecting against SUVs. I wonder what sort of technology might emerge to further absorb collision forces.
  20. Heh, I should perhaps make my remarks more clear. Not that the Toyota meets all those conditions, but I have needs, you know.
  21. Gotta hand it to the Saturn servicepeople. And $333 a month? What's the APR? Is this a SmartLease? SmartBuy? Straight purchase?
  22. I, for one, welcome the possibility of a 100+ MPG car. If Toyota can pull it off, good for them. Such a feat would light a firecracker under the asses of their competitors. ... I still wouldn't buy one, though. Damn eyesores.
  23. The 90s had its share of genericness. There were about 8 or 9 bands that sounded exactly like Pearl Jam. Additionally, listen to Green Day's "When I Come Around" and Better Than Ezra's one hit (I think it was called "Good") back-to-back. I think there were other songs that used this exact same damn riff as well. Also, the whole reverb effect, that's a very 80's thing. It's a lot like what it might sound like at an actual concert. More modern music tries to go for a cleaner sound, rather than muddy it with an echo effect.
