  1. Hoffmeister kink. Though, the Grand Prix's is not so much a kink as it is a bulge.
  2. Hey, I wish I could still surf the net at 100. Happy Birthday!
  3. Happy Birthday, dude. Hey, check out this Englilsh paper that Strong Bad wrote for him.
  4. It was pretty hot up by the lake, too. It was 95 when I went out yesterday, but then it got really dark, really fast. We also had some pretty intense Westerly winds and low cloud cover. Needless to say, it's not as hot today.

    iPhone

There are more useful gadgets than this to spend $600 on. If I wanted a phone that doubled as a personal computer, I'd get something along the lines of a Palm OS or Pocket PC based phone instead. These phones have far better software support, which will take a long time for the iPhone to match. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law ordered a basic Nokia flip phone for about $30 (with $50 Verizon online discount). It has all the essentials: speakerphone, TXT/PIX/FLIX, Bluetooth compatibility... That's a lot for 30 bucks; a lot more than most phones were even 4 years ago. The iPhone will never be that cheap, but I can guarantee that there will be copycats that WILL be that cheap. I bought my laptop for $700, and that lets me view full size web pages much better than any cell phone could. For the first year or two, the iPhone will basically be a mass-market tech demo. I've also heard that first-run Apple products typically have a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. So, if you absolutely must have an iPhone, I'd suggest waiting awhile.
  6. I wish they brought that machine in to mangle the Prius instead. That would have been far more satisfying.
  7. Make that a 10-gauge. Much more devastating. Or a 12-gauge, since the 10-gauge is considered obsolete.
  8. So... What nouns have not yet been used as sexual innuendo? Do any such nouns remain? I must know! My partial list (a fun exercise in futility): Mug Fan Stroller Heimlich (heh heh... oh, dammit.) Phone (he stuck his charger in her ph-- ARGH!)
  9. I see some potential tie-ins. 1. Dodge Viper and XK share a similar platform. 2. X-Type, Avenger, and Sebring share a similar platform. 3. S-Type, Charger, 300C share a similar platform. 4. XJ, Imperial share a similar platform. These could very well all ruin Jaguar. I'm just saying it's possible to syngergize the two companies.
  10. The obvious answer is to hire Buickman as Vice President of North American Marketing.
  11. I just got off the phone with Silvester about an hour ago. The guys didn't make as many stops as they would have liked to. That's alright. There's always next time.
  12. I spy an E-ZPass tag.
  13. My dad got out of the hospital yesterday from getting his gall bladder removed. I spoke to him today. He seemed alright, but his whole system's out of whack because he hasn't had much to eat for the past week... That, and the whole removal procedure, too. I'll be down next weekend to visit both him and my mother for the first time since their respective days. In other news -- and consider this your formal announcement -- I have been wished a Happy Fathers' Day several times today, for the first time in my life. My wife has a baby boy on the way, ETA October 16.
  14. Oh, and... Way to design your car after a 10-year old Mercedes. PS. While looking for an E-Class picture for comparison, I found this picture of the 2009 model:
  15. Does it count if the band replaced its singers before becoming relatively famous? Because Dream Theater changed their lead singer like three times before they found James LaBrie.
  16. Still has a goofy front end.
  17. That thing would have been better off in a garage for 50 years.
  18. For all intents and purposes, it's an exotic El Camino. 4 1/2 stars. Lost a half star for cutting up a perfectly good Corvette. It would have lost more if it wasn't in many ways better than a Corvette.
  19. Vans of that sort are better suited for starting families. You're probably thinking of a passenger van, or a minivan.
  20. So there are at least 212 Federal safety standards. And some folks wonder why concept cars are never released as-is.
  21. There's a reason why it was eventually rejected. Someone at some point came to their senses. [off-topic] Speaking of interesting weapons that were never used in combat, has anyone ever heard of the Bat Bomb? Millions of bats would be released over a city, carrying napalm and spreading it quickly. I was watching a documentary that said that tests of the weapon were a complete success, but it was quickly rendered obsolete by the atomic bomb. [/off-topic] You may now continue bashing the US government.
  22. Great from that angle, but I imagine from behind it would be less impressive (what with no smoke or anything coming out of the missiles).
  23. That looks like an opening. Optimism says that it's just dirt and will wash right off.
  24. Incidentally, is this why Silvester and Dodgefan are headed to Tulsa?
  25. June 2007 Welcome thread for the win.
