  5. I voted RWD. Manual trans. is almost as essential but I'd raher have a automatic RWD car than a FWD wiht a manual. As much as I'm into Muscle Cars I've driven plenty of four and six cylinder cars that had a ton of power... even ones without a huffer. For instance given the choice I'd take a '72 Datsun 510 over an '06 Monte Carlo 5.3, or a Cobalt SS over a '96 Taurus SHO. (but then who in their right mind wouldn't?)
  6. We need to chissel this on a piece of marble and put it up on a big slab in downtown Michigan! So I'm not the only one who bys '83 Firebirds and other V8 RWD cars for "winter beaters" in a cold and wintery climate huh? :) Word of caution: I can not stress this enough. LSD can be like FWD in the winter... seems safer but it turns evil real quick! Instead of one wheel spinning and you car goign slowly FORWARD both light up and you're moving real quick... into a guardrail or tree! Be carefull. A Posi rear is NOT the best solution to poor road conditions. Snow tires and caution are. Sorry to preach but ask any old dog... this is a lesson learned by many a Camaro/ Firebird/ Mustang/ 442/ Chevelle/ GTO/ Skylark owner.

  8. My buddy John drives a 1984 Cadillac F.B. six door, 9 passanger Funeral Coach about 40% of the time... on the weekends it's his band's tour vehicle. (Blues Guitar Band) He hates Vans, Mini Vans & SUVs and dislikes most station wagons so he went out and bought this limo for short change. $3000 IIRC. Looks like this except it's a 80s Fleetwood Brougham not a 70s Deville. Ahh... this is more like it but his is "black on black on black".

  10. Good one. Why didn't I think of that one? That was a huge mistake. A COSTLY mistake too. Saturn seems to still be a hemoraghing kidney in the GM "body". Someone needs to tell GM they can get rid of it and stay alive. The other kidney (Chevy) is functioning FINE. While they're at it I think Chevy should have dibs on the Sky... or maybe even Cadillac. B) BTW: Yes torque steer does suck. So does gettig stuck in the snow but one is preventable and controlable... the other is there every time you mash the throtle no matter what.

I guess I do tend to drive my Camaro like the Duke boys and have powerslided it on a dirt road enough times to feel guilty about rock chips and scrathces on my rocker panels. Mustang84: See, exactly what I'm talking about. The more things change the more they stay the same. Variance: I almost bought a 2002 Camaro but I couldn't afford the payment AND the uinsurance in this crazy state of mine. Insurance woudl have been like $4000 a year. And I actuially had a pretty clean record back then. If a 1st gen retro Camaro comes out I WILL buy one ASAP and take the "hit" in depreciation to give GM a new car sale. My little contribution to make sure it NEVER goes on Hiatus again! I might buy a new Colorodo in the next few years.
  12. Stylistically the last civic was already a step back. The 1997-2000 Civic was a good looking car. The coupe actually had a little bit of elegance to it. The 2001/2 cars sucked and ripped off the euro Astra BIG TIME in the front. Then in 03/04/05 they improved them a lot wiht just a subtle twek here & there. Now this new one looks terrible. I've always been a CRX fan and think those cars are coming bakc but if they make a new CRX wiht the coupe/hatchbacks front end styling it will look hideous! :puke:

I often wander into people's back yards to take a peek at a classic car. here's a '69 Rally green Camaro sitting in a lady's back yard in Haverhill MA. It's supposedly been there since the 70s. It looks it too, I think there's more iron oxide on it than steel. As the story (typical urban legend) goes the son parked it there when he shipped off to Vietnam saying: don't sell my car mom... I'll be back. I've stopped by and asked her twice now if she'd sell the car and each time the door get's slammed in my face. :(
  17. SOme people will never understand the fascination wiht a big towering SUV dropped down to a pavement scarping ride height and outfitted wiht 22" rims. I'm somewhere in the middle. Sometimes i notice a lowered dooly P/U or a tricked out S10 and I think cool! Oher times I think it's retarded.

I agree about the fuel dump valve and the retarded gear setup. Airbus makes a good solid frotn gear that fif not colapse at landing but the real issue is why did the problem occur and whyt the hell is the gear 90* to the direction of landing... ever?
  22. I'm thre first one to say Aston Martin makes a sexy, good looking car. I wish the relationship between the 1st gen. Camaro and upcoming 5th gen was just lie the realtionship between the AM DB5 and this car. IN other words... 21st century evolution of a classic. Having said that I'd take a few differetn cars over this in terms of looks. It looks awsome but it's not my favorite by far: and of course you knew this was coming:

I've though about doing a custom one off wiht a Gen.4 body but 69 styl;e sheetmetal and fascias.... it would e cool but the vertical grille wouild be hard to integrate onto a car that is sooo angled and 'laid-back'. Wouldn't it be awsome though if that was exactly what someone did and now they have 5000 GM/Camaro fans all fired up! :P
  24. Wow. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I barelly remember that limo. Back in Middle School as a kid I was listening to Pink Floyd... my favorite was Dark Side of the Moon & Wall. A lolt of guys called me a loser and a dork for being so into old music and old cars... while they were listinging to L.L. Cool J, MC Hammer, Aerosmith & G&R. They all thought the imports were so much cooler than some POS old American musclecar. (it was a rich town in the early 90s) Then guess what happens a few years later in junior and senior year of High School? Al these same morons are sporting Pink Floyd t-shirts and talking about the '57 Chevy they saw at a carshow wiht a sweet 289 in it. I hate people who stand for NOTHING and just follow. I was still listening to Led Zep, Beatles, P. Floyd & various new stuff but just laughed when I heard them talking about how cool the Animals album was or whatever. Mindless sheep. BAAH BAAAAAHH! Damn it, how do I get on these random tangents??? BTW: Did you know the very first CD to be burned durring the development of the technology was Dark Side of the Moon? I stumped a radio DJ with that one and won a shitload of CDs once. (WXLO)
  25. Thanks guys... yeah most of the car is darn solid. It's even more cushy than the Fleetwood. LIke floating on a freekin cloud! And the seats have even more padding. Or perhaps the 72,000 miles means they're a lot less quished than my 185,000 mile Brougham's. Either way it's a living room on wheels. :)
