  1. Sweet.. always loved the Daytona Coupes. Factory Five builds a really fantastic car too!
  2. They're not commies. They're totalitarian bumhuggers. That's why they have the 'my way or the highway' attitude. You're just splicing atoms. Show me ONE socialist, communist or Marxist nation that is / was not at some point run by a totalitarian or dictator. no really... I grew up in one of the "softest" and most mild Communist countries in the modern world and despite things being quite tame in CzechoSlovakia in the 1980s it sill sucked.
  3. I'm no SAAB nerd, and I couldn't really care less but this IS sad in terms of being another sign of just how screwed up the economic situation is all over the world.
  4. Sorry but the name is blasphemy. There will only ever be ONE real Hornet, it introduced step-down styling, its innovative styling and revolutionary design made even GM sit up and take notice while its motor while only an inline six to the competitions' V8s blew everyone's doors off in an era when NASCAR was still relevant and entertaining. No Dodge subcompact will ever have Twin-H power!
  5. Yes, the naming system at Cadillac SUX!!! IT SUX REL BAD!!! WTF - FML That being said I wish Cadillac all the best but I gotta tell you... it's a serious travesty that Cadillac does not make ONE real FULL SIZE car... I mean a real big f@#kin' behemoth. This is Cadillac we're talking about. Why do they not have at least one low-volume production 19 foot long coupe!? They could call it ELDORADO! And as far as Cadillac fishing down-steam in Acura & Lexus IS territory? I'm not a fan. Sure that's important but they need to get back to being a powerhouse of LUXURY, not just the V-series & Escalade. (as awesome as those may be)
  6. Oh MY GOD!!!! $925? Holy Cow. I wish I had the time off work to go get it....
  7. The only "Italian" car I'd probably ever own would be the "Tiger Hunt" Cadillac V16. First I need to win the power-ball. [lottery]
  8. Read that one before... I've witnessed stranger things. It might be true. Was her car a beige / silver Honda Accord or Toyota Camry?
  9. Damn.... nice toy collection. I'm jealous.
  10. When it comes to GM fuel mileage meters (computers) Instant Fuel Economy is silly nonsense AVERAGE fuel economy starts to be about 99% accurate after just 10 or 15 miles of driving. I have done the math on a few of my vehicles.... like my old 1997 Cadillac STS and that car always showed an average that was within 0.2 MPG. BUT the "instant MPG" readout had a silly margin of error, downhill with NO throttle input the MPG would go to like 48 or 60 MPG for a few sec, while the car was coasting at 45 or 50mph. ONE time I reset the computer on the highway in Conn. at like 3:00am when driving over 100mph and I grabbed a photo of the car saying something like: Average MPH: 107 Average MPG: 6.3 you get the idea.
  11. A picture is worth a thousand words... so here's my submission, photographed at a dealership just a few miles from me. This is the same dealership that has a Cigarette Boat & always packs their showroom full of "custom choppers" ad they always have a few old rare cars but they're usually asking 350% of what the car is REALLY worth. Back in the day, like 12 years ago they we're pretty cool. My buddy Duffy, the guy who lives in Arizona now and who's daily driver and ONLY car is a 1961 Rambler American sedan, he bought a 1991 Pontiac Firebird GTA steel roof 350TPi from them for a decent price. The car as amazingly mint. I mean back in 2000 (or was it 1999?) when he bought this thing it MUST have been one of the cleanest and most pampered 3rd Gen. F-bodies in New England. Anyway this past winter they had this monstrosity. It started off as a 2004 Cadillac Escalade.
  12. Seems like every year people are more scared & frazzled by things that our ancestors took in stride. without cell phones without power, at all, ever without fire trucks, ambulances etc... just sayin' Mrs. Jones: No you do NOT need to stock up on 48 bottles of water because of a Hurricane. Think about it. Some of these people raiding the local grocery stores for TP & beer is just pathetic.
  13. Soon the Suburban will be sold and then soon after that (hopefully) I can sell the V12 Mercedes Benz and I will be ONCE again buying yet another vehicle or two, or three.... depending on how things out of my control turn out. --- So here's a quick recap before I continue: --- I've owned / daily driven almost three dozen GM cars over the past 14 years. Mostly big, V8 powered boats from the 1970s & 1980s, one 1968 Camaro, a few Chevrolet trucks, a couple 1960s classics, and one 1950s land yacht with tail fins big enough for a V2 rocket. Then there's a few demolition derby cars: four FoMoCos, two Mazdas & one Volvo 240 Everyone here probably remembers the two Datsun Maximas I owned, (powered by Inline-6, RWD, 5-speed, IRS) And then there's the German stuff. So far I have owned three BMWs, one [e32] 735iL and two 3-series [both e30 chassis cars] Mercedes Benz has definitely become my favorite marque as of late. Not in general, that would still be Cadillac as far as favorite brand EVER, but M.B. is a very close second. I've now owned six Mercedes cars - Two W123 sedans: - 1982 240D - diesel - 1982 300D - turbo diesel Two W126 coupes - 1984 500SEC hardtop coupe (303 cubic inch, 5.0 liter SOHC, aluminum V8 with mechanical fuel injection) - 1991 560SEC hardtop coupe (same basic motor, just 5.6 liters, or 339 cubic inches) One W124 sedan - 1993 300E - this was powered by the silky smooth 'm104' DOHC inline six motor and who could forget the W140 with the TWIN SIX (two m104 inline-6 motors fused at the crank = m120 V12) That car is a 1992 MB 600SEL - the BIG, LONG beast that is used by billionaires & kings as means of travel. I have had the best luck by far with my Mercedes Benz purchases, even the two W123 diesels which cost me $500 & $600 respectively and had over 600,000 miles between the two of them I did not have one single major repair. No crappy "rubber band" timing belts, they are / were all chain driven, like any / every proper car should be! All RWD with an overbuilt chassis built using virgin steel for construction & durable engine, transmission, rear end, suspension etc. So now I'm going to be buying ANOTHER car, #62 if I got my count right.... something like that anyway. Here's my top three choices: 1. 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan (just over 100k miles) ~ asking $1600 2. 1989 BMW 635Csi [needs some work] ~ $1200 3. 1985 Mercedes Benz 500SEC with bad motor $1000 + W126 turbo diesel parts car for another $1000 + a LOT of work to make one car out of two crippled ones. 4. 1983 Cadillac Seville Bustleback with the 8-6-4 ~ $1700 5. (as yet to be found) 1980 - 1991 solid & decent M.B. 300SDL - not an SD, it has to be an SDL, if I give up on getting a 2dr hardtop it better be the BIG, LONG sedan.
  14. Threads like this remind me just how the new car industry is getting depressing. People are stupid & ignorant. One $1000 repair in a 4 cylinder car that you can avoid in a V6 can buy you $1000 worth of gasoline, that's 250 gallons. Think about it. The government should concentrate on fixing itself & trimming the fat, not sticking a flashlight up the rear end of the Automotive industry!
  15. O.B. come back to your roots, go GM. You know the Cruise is more car that either Ford.
  16. Ewww.... VW Eurovans are so damn lame. How /why someone with the ability to buy a '76 & '96 Porsche 911 would ever bother with some lame-duck 914, never mind a $h!pile like a Eurovan is beyond me. Talk about poor safety ratings! The Eurovan suck so bad the Chinese carbon-copy is probably SAFER!
  17. The only really memorable Oldsmobile I owned was my 1964 Super 88 Holiday. Given the chance I'd love to own one of these late 1970s or even early 1980s Oldsmobiles. My first car was supposed to be an '85 Cutlass Supreme 2dr but my parents junked it & I ended up sharing my mom's '95 Sunfire coupe. Up here in N.E. it's gotten really hard to find any sort of BOF Olds, never mind a two door. The ones that do occasionally pop up on Craigslist are usually 75% destroyed s#!tbox & 25% rust-bucket.
  18. Agreed Wow, I just noticed that in your Sig. Congrats on the Challenger purchase!

  20. You aint lived till you hear that long version, I'm telling you. It's almost as epic as the "November Rain" video by G&R
  21. i long for the days when "nerds" drove turbo diesel Mercedes Benz wagons, BMW 3-series sedans & the REAL nut-job with a pocket protector would have a Volvo or maybe SAAB 900 "5-door"
  22. Agreed! Ford is dumb to discontinue the Panther chassis, they could have kept selling them for three more decades! If you peel back that bowtie sticker you just might find a "6th Planet" logo.
  23. Go crazy.... have fun.
  24. Regular cut, or the 12 minute extended one with the 4 minute piano solo?

    Cool Regal

I would LOVE to own a clean, rust free 1984 - 1987 Buick Regal Coupe. I don't need a G.N., not even asking for a T-type or T-tops, just a nice solid decent used car that happens to be a G-body Regal Coupe with either the V8 or not too shabby "231" V6. The problem is, in our "post cash for clunkers" world cars like that are very few & far in between. This is a local, semi-decent example of a local Regal for sale, it's not exactly "solid" either, plenty of crust & rust and the price is $2000 FIRM.
