  1. I've been saying for years that we were on the verge of a massive erosion in the middle class here in the USA. Outsourcing has been a pebble in my shoe since I was old enough to understand the most basic ideas of Macro Economics. I was called paranoid, professors t my college would argue that the FDIC is your FRIEND, they're what is going to prevent another 1929 from ever happening.... and here we are in 2009, on the radio, TV, internet & newspapers the constant drumbeat is: "America is going through a permanent change... not for the better" but sadly most of you are still asleep. Balthy: Your analogy was apt, thanks.
  2. Balthazar: One thing I've never given much thought to... "exposed rocker panels" You do have a point... GM in the 1960s had some gorgeous detailing on rocker panels. 1st gen. F-body RS with the deluxe trim, 1965 Rivieras, my '64 Super 88, even a Chevy sedan could be had with a nice stainless steel trim package that included the rockers. WMJ: Fantastic choices. I love the '58 Rambler, it's the '58 Olds that's not my cup of tea.
  3. My 1991 S10 Blazer was a fantastic truck. Even the interior was nice... but eesp. pleasing was it's off road prowess, 5-speed manual & the 75% of a 350sbc under the hood. (4.3 liter V6) That being said I've driven a few late 1990s S10s and more than a few have felt disappointing. It seems (like with so many things) newer is NOT always better. The shift linkage, squeeks/rattles, interior quality & reliability seemed to go downhill with the 1993/1995 refresh.
  4. P.S. This is racism! MLK Jr. is spinning in his garve!
  5. Dude, you're a stereotype. That's NOT a complement. California should be kicked out of the Union. So much blatant stupidity & erroneous info originates there.
  6. I guess I just have to agree to disagree... I think as USA-spec. 1970s cars go the 3.0CS is gorgeous. I mean we're talking the same era as the Pinto & Mustang II.
  7. Too bad the 850 is no longer in production.
  8. FoG gets it. But a good chunk on here are SHEEPLE about more than just their cars.
  9. I realise 99% of this kind of "paranoid" fearmongering is B.S. Except if you start paying attention these are strange times & that one percent of the truth is scarier than even the most paranoid Orwelian Hollywood plot.... mostly because it's playing out in the REAL world, not a movie screen. 1974, Somewhere in Cambodia: "Yeah right... what are they going to do...? Kill all 1.5 million of us!? Puh-lease!" You love dealing in absolutes, huh? Yup. L.A. does exist in an airtight bubble. Spoken like a typical sheeple, uh... I mean citizen of California. Yes Sir Mr.Göring. Sorry to interupt Thread #2,948,571 on the topic of the quality of the plastic on the dashboard of a GM sedan post mid-cycle refresh.
  10. Not enough people were "paranoid" in 1939. Hence millions dead in Asia, Russia & Europe. Big Government DOES scare me.... not becasue it can't be defeated but because the complacent types who have no spine, make no effort to inform themselves & possess no foresight far outnumber the people who actually give a crap. SAD but true.
  11. Yeah.... I thought of you when I posted that one. Here's some more:
  12. oh Geez.... Now my head is REALLY spinning. (Heheh-he, anyone else think of Garfield shipping Nermal to Abu Dhabi when they read the title of the thread...?)
  13. If you're not paranoid, you're not paying attention! http://www.naturalnews.com/024128.html
  14. Entertainment is not BAD in and of itself. It's when it eclipses your REAL life that the problem manifests.
  15. Damn. Sorry to hear that Camino. Truly a cringe worthy post.
  16. LOL @ '76 Bonneville in the exact colors as my old '76 LeSabre that now belongs to Fly. http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=17490 ---
  17. I say you go test drive that Kammback X6 thing just to see WTF those Germans were smoking when they crossed the X5 with a Honda CRX... it's both fascinates & offends me at the same time. Like most BMWs it will prob. grow on me.
  18. Well, one thing I think we can agree on Balthazar... The best thing about these BMWs is their blatantly American influenced pillarless Greenhouses which DO to a large degree IMHO add a certain sophistication and luxury to an otherwise "economical" looking car. I do think you underestimate BMW's strengths as far as innovation, performance & the subtle art of "under styling". BMW never got on the "square sealed-beam headlight" bandwagon and they are to be commended for that, being the only ones other than Porsche to never put square headlights on any production car. I can overlook many of the "unrefined " details you pointed out & yet the '75-'79 Seville which you appreciate, to me looks just terrible. It's a BOX with a myriad of BOXY/rectangular details. That to me is a car that looks like it's lacking design altogether.
  19. I arrived on the scene in fall of 2004. Anyone remember LordSafford?
  20. Yeah... spend, spend $PEND!!!! Who F*&$^ing cares if you have a foreclosure & bankruptcy looming over your head...? trade your 2007 Chevy on a 2010 Cadillac! Throw that iPod in the trash, get a n iPod NANO! ---- When you've got 2 jobs, your wife has a full time job & you also have two kids and you're paying $900 in JUST rent, not to mention mASS car insurance on three cars, will YOU still have $$$ left over for a new car payment. I've lost 4-10 hours a week at UPS & 6-12 hours a week at my day job because of this recession... not in a mood to be preached to. P.S. Buying tons of car parts at NAPA/Autozone/CAP/ Advanced/VIP ALSO stimulates the economy. I spend within my means. Sorry that irritates you.
  21. The "Burning Man" crowd really is mostly insane loonies & crazies. This is a sculpture, not an Art Car but it was too awesome to not include.
  22. Bread, Wine, Circus & the illusion of a semi-functioning Government... [fast forward twenty centuries] McDonald's & Food Stamps, Gatorde & Coke Zero, High-Defn. TV, broadband internet, NFL/NBA/MLB, Reality Shows, Blue-Ray/DVDs SUVs with brush guards, bluetooth & NAVi, Designer Jeans designer sunglasses designer purse & countless other useless fashion-driven items... iPod nanos, Cell Phones with touch screen & wireless internet, up-to-the-minute sports scores... & the illusion of a semi-functioning Government.
  23. If GM ran a world Government the Lumina APV would drive YOU.
  24. Gawd. It's sooooo hot. Eliminate that B-pillar and it's the epicenter of everything cool about muscle cars, Chevrolet, the USA & Apple Pie.
