1. P.S. White (body-color?) insert in the headlight? F-minus.
2. Is this Genesis based? The styling is not all that great. Way too many arbitrary stops/breaks in the trim, sculpting, contours & brightwork. The grille is interesting but WTF is up with that greenhouse? The rear side window can't decide whether its got a Hofmeister kink or not. The white interior is swank, I'd like to do my MB 500SEC's over that way one day...like the crazy AMG/gullwing/widebody examples of my car.
3. But he had to be INSTRUCTED to do so. This fu8*stick should've been in the next round of Darwin Awards.
4. Just what YOU need: "ARREST ME RED" Congrats. Is it a manual...? As far as the manual locks being a pain, it's a TWO door. Geeeze.
5. There were certainly MANY much worse looking dashboards made in the mid-1980s. I'm not a huge fan of the Aero-G-bodies. Always thought it would be fun to make a "phantom" GNX-aero. (G.N. + GNX upgrade + Aero rear glass/trunk) I almost bought a super clean '86 GP t-top with S-10 eXtreme rims & a rebuilt 305 just days before I bought my beat up '68 Camaro for nearly TWICE as much. NO buyers remorse there. :AH-HA_wink: The good news about the GP's 305: it's damn easy to make it look very stock with a Pontiac 326/400 or even cheaper/easier: drop in a ZZ4 5.7 SBC in the 305"s place.
6. W - T - F - ? You leave Depeche Mode out of this thread.
7. Yeah DF, just go aftermarket & get a player compatible with CD-Rs & MP3s.
8. Get up at 3:45am, work 2 jobs & get home at 6:15pm and THEN talk to me about spending that kind of time on l_33+ $P34|< I don;t half aass it, I do my own thing.
9. I listened to NPR about the G20 yesterday morning while loading a 54-footer. My blood pressure & cynicism did NOT benefit.
10. That Toro is quite interesting. Nice nod to heritage w/ the rims.
11. BlackViper: Those are fantastic examples. Esp. the Jag & Toyota Corona.
12. I much prefer 1964.... the detailing in the grille is exquisite. I loved my 1964 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday ...
13. H4PPY B!R+HD4Y O.B. Here's some Car themed eye candy. P.S. Where ya been Black & Blue?
14. LoL Well, it's cooler than a FWD W-body.
15. I almost bought a '65 4dr hardtop 120 just like this one. Same color. Someday I WILL own a '65-'69 Corvair, I would prefer the 2dr hardtop. Well said. I agree 100%
16. My 1964 Oldsmobile's factory installed seat belts were a work of art. I was proud to show 'em off at car shows!
17. Not Alfa. This manufacturer technically has three names.
18. I vote to keep the Sig. Don't bend to convention or compromise your emotions! Truth in advertising.
19. I'm going to try to rebuild my 364 first. Progress has been slow enough to be considered stalled.
20. I've got mixed feelings about this. for the record: NASCAR is a cog in the economic machine too... as lame as it may be.
21. I F***ing hate eBay. I gave them thou$$$$$ands of dollar$ of business over the years (1999 to 2006) before I got fed up with the fees & lack of support as a seller OR buyer when crooks messed with my time/$. The last straw was in 2006 when I had to pay the fees for selling my '68 Camaro TWICE!
22. I got a ticket recently: 92mph in a 65mph zone. I was driving the Suburban. Since the M.B. hardtop has become my new daily driver as Julie took over driving the BMW I've been using the M.B.'s built in radar detector... it's def. as old a the car itself, installed discreetly by RadioShack. It saved me from a sure ticket already. I was about to fly past a speed trap in the middle lane at over 80mph in a 55mph zone. I wish I could brag about a ticket for 146mph. I've only done 140 once. Most of my cars have/had governors at the 125/130 mark, many could not do 146mph at all. Although I've done 100+ in almost every car i've ever owned.
23. Oh.... sorry. 2 jobs, 2 kids, 2 German Autobahn toys & three hulks of Detroit iron keep ME busy.
24. While it's true that Mercedes & Volvo made more advances in safety in certain time periods to say Detroit never made an effort in that regard unless it was regulated is idiotic. Pre War Cadillacs (1928) had safety glass, GM pioneered hydraulic brakes in affordable cars earlier still in 1923 & dozens more preventative safety measures were made before the Japanese even thought up their Toyopet AA in 1938. (or was it 1937?) As far as seatbelts, people, average moms, dads & other wise conformist types were turned off to the seatbelt for the first few years. The public thought only an UNSAFE car would need seatbelts.... after all, seatbelts are for planes! You can lead a horse to water... As far as Detriot vs. the world: I'd take a brass era wood bodied Model -T over the average 1960s or 1970s Japanese $h!box that is basically a lightweight coffin.
