  1. Yeah.... '68/'69 Fiat Abarth 850 coupe. I thought I would throw something unexpected into the mix.
  2. While I love 1st gen. Chevrolet Monte Carlos they're not "forgotten" or off the beaten path. Still, wish there was more of them.
  3. Wow.... that sux, sorry to hear O.B. Time is $$$ too, no one compensates for that. One nice thing about having a 200K mile M.B. is that a small dent here & there does not totally ruin my day. The massive dent someone put in the driver's fender at my wife's work on the other hand: Pray I do not find you!!!
  4. No chore will ever suck more than changing a litter box.
  5. Yeah, obviously they meant $18K (they typed in the pennies) but even $15,000 would be a stretch in this economy. Next car/truck I buy for five digits will have fat fenders & 6v electrical system. I gotta score a pre-war car before the girls approach college age... then it'll never happen.
  6. Yes & no. Didn't so much forget as my pans for buying a '61 Special are still under way.... slowly but surely.
  7. I can't help but think that not only did we manage to throw it all away but we also somehow made a mess so big & complex that we've painted ourselves into a corner while all around us the warning signs were blatantly obvious. Yes. I too have that thought process at times. Balthy's "Packard DNA" comment is dead on.
  8. Buying clothes online seems crazy. Kind of like trying to bowl w/ a brick. How can you trust what size to get? I'm like 4 different sizes depending on the shoe's brand, style, temperature, barometric pressure etc. Still you're not the only one, I load those Zappos boxes on UPS trucks like they're giving them away.
  9. Yeah... the Mall is not a place I like to frequent. Hard to believe I used to work at one. Exactly. I love getting clothes for Christmas.... every pair of jeans & shirt I get is another dreaded shopping experience bullet dodged.
  10. Yeah... they are a bitch and a half.
  11. Get an '80s M.B. W123 diesel, pref. NON-turbo.... or a Volvo 240 automatic. Better yet, maybe a family-pack of bus passes.
  12. Camino: I too a libertarian, I also agree with Bath, FoG & others with similar sentiment. It really IS hard to keep your chin up when you try to "fight the fight" & give people info and inspiration only to see apathy, ignorance & sometimes even blatant, shamless stupidity.
  13. 1. Mass (as in gross weight) is a huge part of the equation. You can't fool physics.... when a car with a gross weight of 4000 lbs. (Cadillac, Mercedes, whatever) collides with 3000 lbs. of Honda Civic there is no denying that right from the get-go the passengers in the car w/ 75% its combatant is at a huge disadvantage. I know my off hand remarks, sometimes just by virtue of my disgust with FWD econobxes make me seem a bit naive, but I assure you I understand the importance of collapsible steering columns, airbags, door beams & crumple zones. Still, you can not overcome pure physics! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRJ1-UKSV9M...feature=related Interesting publicity stunt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezlNKSANtbo...feature=related Hey BlackViper: Don't you constantly hate on S-10 Blazers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH6mDM2xa4I...feature=related
  14. Hahahahaha-ha! Gotta love the lack of a temporary plate in MASS. The 7-day law makes things WAY more interesting.
  15. I'm quite content averaging only 16 mpg in my 25-year-old Mercedes Benz knowing that it will hold together better than most new (2009 m.y.) cars, and even its 4000-odd Lbs. will help to keep my girls safe in a nasty accident.
  16. A friend of my wife's already uprooted her nuclear family and moved from the midwest of the US of A to Australia. She's urging her friends & family to follow suit. Julie told me she's considering it. I told her to give me a date so I can plan on stuffing the B-59 into a storage container.
  17. Yes. Perdue = 6.3 V12 AMG Market Basket = Honda Civic with Rice Stickers
  18. LoL @ 0-62mph discussion. Yes, it's a turbocharged 5-cylinder. My FIRST turbo actually. It may be slow but the whooosh of the turbo is fun to listen to, as is the smell of french fries. Jut got home w/ the wife. D.F. & JessiChan were given bad directions to "Fire + Ice" and so they gave up after a wild goose chase around Harvard University & M.I.T. I like being the designated driver, so I got my wife home in her BMW after a quick "detour" and let's just say her under wear was in her purse when we got home. Likewise. Hope you had a good one.
  19. Thank You everyone. Lack-of-B-Pillar day went great. Drove my 500SEC with all four windows down, for only the 3rd, or the 4th time this year. Spent time with my two girls, since wife worked all day. Now I'm off to Boston for a surprise. (Lobster...? or maybe Filet Mignon?) Thanks, and thanks for helping me get it down to Ass-hat-Chusetts by playing the chase car. Teaser Pic: The Grinch 'Burban Sold for $1200 on Friday morning, so I "reinvested" exactly half of it in a Diesel M-Benz.
  20. LoL. The pleasure is all mine. If you're not paranoid than the drug companies are doing their job!
  21. I love baby Seal sandwiches... the best way to make 'em is to make sure your Seal meat is 100% clubbed, it brings out the best flavor. A side of Pickled 'Veal Cow hearts' goes well, as well as Spotted Owl Omelet.
  22. I am a huge fan of German cars & I despise FWD with a passion. So this is like asking me would I rather have sex with a Porn Star & catch the clap & herpes, or bang the cute curvy girl next door & her smokin' hot friend at the same time... even though they have not gone tanning in a month. This is BMW all the way!!!
  23. Right, so let the retards make their choices. Bad or good. Why the hell would I want to be restricted and possibly have MY choice become illegal because of ohter's idiocy? Yes, Toyotas blow & they're abundant. It sucks. I would NEVER support a regulation saying they're ILLEGAL unless it was obvious their inferiority is hazardous or their safety is grossly substandard... (oh, wait... ) ---- Oh Good. This thread really could benefit from a random Flamethrower pic. I too _WANT DF: I love market Basket for their prices. Best around no doubt. On many items they put BJWC to shame. But that being said there are a few things that just plain suck. I'd say somewhere around 1/3 of their generics. Chicken is the best example by far. Market Basket Chicken VS. Perdu: Here's some example that come to mind: Audi S4 vs. Kia Amanti Lindt Milk Chocolate w/ chopped hazelnuts vs. Snickers Gran Turismo 4 for PS2 vs. "Test Drive 2'
  24. I avoid Exxon/Mobil like the plague for political reasons. XP once gassed up at Mobil but actually got 40% gasoline and 60% H20 in his Riviera.
