  1. My point exactly. The Suburban's extra length gives space for a drop-down footwell, making the 3rd seat VERY comfortable for my 6'3" self. But in the shorties, the bottom cushion is essentially mounted right to the floor and there is no drop-down whatsoever, meaning your knees sit at about the same level as your shoulders. There is the longer models, but it'd be nice to be able to get less bulk and still decently accomodating seating back there.
  2. Mostly agree on that, even though the newly marshmallow look GMC is getting is starting to worry me a bit. On the other hand, I like the Escalade and REALLY like the Tahoe--a truck that will look a LOT better in some color other than the gold, we keep seeing it in. Really want to see the longer models too, even though nothing much except for the stretch will be different. Same goes for the Avalanche--want to see its "different" front end, that is apparently more aggressive than the Tahoe's.
  3. Yeah, because those ARE actually the wheels for the LT, as is the leather and the painted handles and mirrors. Maybe just the badge was wrong, and everything else was right--that's what it sounds like.
  4. Oh, really? Hmm. In the order guide it says LS models have black door handles and mirrors, and most LS models never have leather. Maybe it's just an oddball pre-production mixture. I kinda noticed that too. Actually, in the fuzzy ordering guide images, they look quite ugly, especially the first one. But, from the various spy pics we've seen, I think at least the last two look a lot better in person. They all seem to stay on track with the general "Chevy truck wheels" look. Take a glance at my sig, to see what I mean.
  5. Yep, they're one of the new 17's (the truck above is a mid-level LT). Here's the full assortment from the GM ordering guide: N93 - Wheels, 4 - 17" x 7.5" (43.2 cm x 19.1 cm) bright aluminum ,5-spoke, with 2 grooves in each spoke P46 - Wheels, 4 - 17" x 7.5" (43.2 cm x 19.1 cm) bright aluminum, 5-spoke, with smooth surface and rectangular pockets RCS - Wheels, 4 - 20" x 8.5" (50.8 cm x 21.6 cm) polished aluminum And all the other ordering stuff: GM Online Ordering Guide: 2007 Tahoe
  6. Wow, looks cool in person too. This is, IMO, the best of the GMT-900's, which would make sense since it's always the most popular one. Even though the 3rd seat still bugs me, and the power liftgate is only available on high end models, these pics are making me think a Summit White 2wd '09 LS model might make a mighty fine replacement for our '04. What I like best? The fit & finish, even in the slighty fuzzy pics of the pre-production truck, is MASSIVELY better than on our '04, as is the interior design and fits. Nice to see a front bumper that actually finally fits tightly and interior trim that looks fitting of the pricetag. I'm guessing it was driven by a couple engineers? Or higher ups from the plant?
  7. Have you ever even been NEAR a QX56? Nice, burly styling, awesome power, and room galore, but they've had nothing but constant problems with bits and pieces falling off, undersized brakes that need monthly fixing or replacing, not to mention quite cheap interior parts and, most annoyingly, rattles, squeaks, and creaks like a 20 year old Cavalier. It certainly does beat the piss out of the GM ute's (as does EVERY other competitor, save Toyota) when it comes to the 3rd seating area, and is a nice "in between" size, but I really don't think it's the class benchmark, by any means. Actually, I don't think ANY of the players in the field are at the top--that would take a combination of parts and designs from several different ones, blended into one.
  8. I don't necessarily think it looks bad, but the overall package just isn't at the level it should be at, for $60k + and the year 2007. It's a nice ride, no doubt, and will be just as popular as the current one, regardless. MASSIVE improvement over areas like the 70's fit and finish of the current truck, with no more poorly fitting from bumpers or playschool Chevy dashes.
  9. Yeah, really. It's sharp, no doubt, but the whole REAL A&S thing started by the CTS seems to have gone down the tubes, in favor of more banal lines and angles. So, based on the trend, I guess the next CTS will drive even nicer, but be the most diluted yet...
  10. Well, that's nothing shocking. Now in: the 3rd round of a Chevy Tahoe wearing a nice T-shirt. STILL seems too similar, even though there are slightly different panels and other bits. Oh well, at least it has 400hp....that at least counts for something, I guess. Just too damn bad they couldn't go ALL out, and give it things from this decade like a better arranged rear suspension and a nicer 3rd row that doesn't have to be lugged out and into the garage....just what I want to have to do with my $65k truck ^_^
  11. I agree--outside, the latest Bonnevilles were an example of one of the BEST GM designs in a long while. It's just too bad you couldn't have those looks matched to a better performing RWD chassis and a MASSIVELY better interior. As is, it's a great car, but could have been SO much more, if they just tried to keep it updated and improved periodically, rather than just letting it slide off the scales. One thing I have noticed is how the leftover '05 Bonneville's seem to be the worst selling GM car in the past year, or at least the one that sits on the lot the longest. Dealers that have no 2005 anything at this point, still, on average, have at least 2 or 3 new Bonnie's sitting around collecting dust, especially the GXP models. The fact that there was virtually no marketing for the car whatsoever certainly didn't help matters either. Well, that, and the 300C....I think if that car hasn't given GM a wakeup call, it at least helped shovel out the grave for the Bonnie on its first day.
  12. Well, I think the general consensus is STILL that a lot of us are getting sick and tired of hearing "but you just wait" and seeing things like the nice, but still lacking Lucerne, these trucks that already seem like models that were out 5 years ago, etc. Solstice is great, but if it's the ONLY thing you can do that stands out and takes the market by storm, you're going to have some MAJOR problems....oh wait, GM's already in that boat... These trucks are going to sell, no doubt, but now that we've seen most (or at least have a strong idea), I'm not as enthused as I was hoping for. GM could have done more, and I don't think I'm the only one who thinks so. Hmm...now let's see--wonder how lacking the supposedly "amazing" Enclave and Acadia will be? ^_^ Sorry, but this little "promise" game has more than worn out its welcome.... :( And before ANYONE says it, the completed production models won't give off any more of an aura than this tape covered one...that's just bunk. Consider it "seen".
  13. Yeah, that's most likely a current CTS. NOT an Escalade, by any means.
  14. I just hope the CTS doesn't get watered down outside. Regardless of the few that don't like it, it seems to be the only Caddy right now that has something about it that REALLY makes it stand out. The STS and Escalade, for example, look great, but the extreme hard-edged look of the CTS is just out of this world, still to this day, and combined with things like the orange DRL's, it's just in a class of its own on the road.
  15. I still think the front end of the car is way to nondescript and blah...it SHOULD have been really eye-catching and voluptuous, to better flow with the rest of the car that is actually quite classy. The wheels are fine, and MUCH better than some of the ugly little monstrosities they've offered for years on the LeSabre.
  16. Interesting combo: a person who works assembling/painting/etc. Hondas but spends his own money on a Pontiac. Then again, when you get right down to it, there's nothing really from Honda that's a dead on match for a G6 GTP, and that's my honest view. An Accord V6 is great, but a little too appliance like and definately more boring, even if a bit more polished when it comes to refinement and driving dynamics.
  17. Well, in all honesty, considering how lame most GM vehicles, Buicks included, have been in the past 10 years, the Lucerne is probably about the caliber of car they should have had in 1996, and should be much farther ahead today. There's NOTHING it has that weren't readily available back then: the large FWD G-platform, the 3.8L, the Northstar, etc., etc. I know it was just a typo, but it made me think. B)
  18. Well, that's good news, especially if the NAV will be available on all trim levels. A cloth seated CX with a factory NAV would be quite attractive to me.
  19. Agreed. I honestly think the concept suffers from the same stretched/warped proportions that the production model does, only to a WORSE degree. The production car, IMO, looks more cohesive and better finished than this thing, and I'm still no fan of it.
  20. Hmm, is that what those are? I like. MUCH, MUCH better than the typical plain silver painted ones. Looks like a great car, though I still don't like the front end that much. And yeah, where the heck is this Nav system on the options list? Guess it's like the wood/leather steering wheel also shown on Buick's site but nowhere to be found on in the options.
  21. The most amazing part to me? The $38k pricetag! Conversions like that usually raise the overall price to an insane level, but the Solstice is so affordable to begin with, it STILL seems like a bargain at $38k--and with a LS2 to boot!! I really like the original, but would GLADLY take a monster V8 over a little 4-cyl ANY day of the week :metal:
  22. Yeah, apparently November 5th had been announced (and in a LOT of places too), but it really isn't going to be until the 11th, in truth. Oh well, what's another week? B)
  23. Wow, what a story.... Guess it shows that, in certain areas, even the more civil H3 isn't selling so hot--then again, with about as much grunt under the hood as a riding lawn mower, things like the gas mileage it gets seems irrelevant. Then again, they all still look so cool, I'll take one of each!
  24. WHOA! I think we've hit an all-time factory to buyer incentive level: 2005 Suburban - $7,000 Yukon XL - $7,000  Good lord is that a sign of an extremely over priced old design.... :o
  25. Yeah, not to mention identical MPG ratings, plus a LOT more power at lower RPM and a lower base price in the 300C. Granted, it doesn't have a few of the things available in the Lucerne like cooled seats and, honestly, some of the interior materials are a bit lower grade, but it is an interesting comparo to say the least B)
