No. This is more the case the current TSX is nearing end of product cycle anyway, alongside the TL of same vintage. Overseas it is the Accord, but that car is a higher line and tighter, trimmer version than the dumbed down wide-body Accord we've always gotten here. It's just end of model cycle (started 2009 remember) and with the TL at the same point, and the new ILX, it's time and a good move to combine both. Hopefully with some powertrain options as well. Expect great things from the next car. Everyone enjoys the new Accord. Take the kind of step forward that was from the previous gen gangly look and lacking in some refinement vs. before, and do the same and more for where the TSX/TL are today, and it's a good idea I think. We'll see. The current TSX is a perfect size for me right now, I will say. Very comfortable, and more refined than the 1st gen. Great seats, visibility, solid as could be, and impressive mileage. Coming to an end well, for a generation now.

Cheers. Normally this time of year I try to make a trek west to visit relatives, but too hectic this year. Taking today off and back to work tomorrow. I've already seen fireworks over the highway while driving 2 nights in a row in the past week, late night. Fun time of year.

The grille... On that note. Very interesting. Very few people actually mention this, though at an auto show I had a guy tell me he always bought Acura's until the newer "grille beak" ones came out and then just because of a grille (his excuse I still don't believe) had "had to" switch to a Mercedes C-class. Needless to say after doing so, that car was nice, but he was back to checking out Acura's. Then I've taken my various models home to my parents before. Mom likes them but out of the blue pointed at the grille on my TSX once and "is that optional? I don't like it". Interesting to see someone like that who doesn't see Acura's often anyway (Delaware after all) say they like everything but that. Such a small detail, and I do like it. I think the best front end right now is on the small car, of everything, the ILX. With it's curves, lights, and grille design, really is put together well.

That's interesting. I really like the last gen TSX in a smaller tighter form, but the material quality and finish inside of the 2009 is clearly better IMHO without all the hard plastic panels that feel thin and scrape up on the center console and dash, etc. of the first gen. They are not far off, but I end up liking the newer model more back to back, even though it is bigger with less direct steering feel, and softer nicer looking materials and dash. Both are extremely nice cars. I had a client replace his older Lexus LS "day to day run about" with a 2004 TSX we had with 80k miles on it. Enjoys the drive and performance a lot. Great tough cars. The powertrains are great especially, even with the 5-speed auto and that 2.4L. I get incredible mileage and the best of it doing 75-80mph, singing along.

Not to be jaded, but has someone who has worked with the Acura brand day in & day out and earns my living thanks to the brand, in addition to getting to visit behind the scenes and meet and see many things I never expected to be able to, it is a well done niche brand that will continue and has values no other brand can touch. Right now products like our all new 2014 MDX and the 2013 RDX from last year are far and away shining stars. I drive a TSX daily and currently a 2013. While it lacks some recent tech like push button access, the build quality, driving dynamics, and performance are right there. I enjoy tossing mine around daily and that beautiful Honda VTEC 2.4L loves revving all day long and still getting 35 on the highway with a lot of power. What is happening is this. Both the TSX and TL are due for remakes. The TL has gotten a bit big and the TSX also has, at least vs. what it was before. Rather than continue with both, we will have one sedan either called the TSX or TLX that combines attributes of both with the latest styling, Earth Dreams powertrains, features, etc. of our latest cars. If you have not experienced one, there's nothing like an SH-AWD TL with the screaming 3.7L V6 and torque vectoring SH-AWD. All the fun in the current should continue, with a lot of new variety and better styling. It's interesting how so many reviews talk about the RLX based on printed dimensions not being that much larger than some other "smaller" cars but in reality it is a LARGE car and back doors & seat especially, it looks and feels huge. Yet fun to toss around. Acura is not for everyone, and that's fine. Styling especially has varied a lot over the years. The quality is always there, they are performance machines, and you get a driving experience and sport that no floppy Lexus or unrefined Infiniti can touch, with better long term quality and much lower cost, combined with resale through the roof. It's a fun smaller company. Honda has had their ups and downs, yet thankfully the engineering company status is here to stay. Don't mind me, while I'm out zinging around with a screaming VTEC on the highway curves. Don't forget, I also own a Regal GS...so I see and drive lots of things, and appreciate great cars period, brand regardless

Brand new white 2014 Kia Cadenza...with a big chunk of the driver's side bumper corner ripped out already. Oops. Decent looking car otherwise. Then downtown at the Brooklyn Flea Market, this:

Back again...GS style this time
caddycruiser replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Yes, apparently as mentioned before Buick/GM offer a replacement pad for the Brembo's as a TSB for complaints of noise and dust, but I still debated. Will see what the dealer thinks at first oil swap. My only concern with oil was based on yearly age, and the fact I don't drive it often at all. I.E., was there a time limit too. -
This is more correct. Most reported in the $200's had a lot more down, were at different times, low mileage, etc. For a $40-47k car, the lease is awesome regardless. But it is not the same as a $20k base model something. Very, very cool car. I enjoyed driving at GM Main Street in 2011. Incredible car. Bit of odd packaging for me inside and up front, but could be very functional with the hatch.

Brand new 2014 red Impala LTZ last night at Target: Out driving today, a newly arrived Summit White 2014 GMC Sierra Crew at the dealer my Regal came from: Then next door at Cadillac, interesting to note what an XTS that has sat un-ran too long looks like with a drooping rear as the air shocks let out a puff:

Back again...GS style this time

Over 9 months in now...and just crossed 4,000 miles last weekend. I didn't realize how much I wasn't driving until looking at the odometer. Started to wonder if I should change the oil based on age and not miles, as the car was built a year ago, I got it October 1st and at 4k miles, the Oil Life still says 72%. Dealer told me 5,000 miles is what they do when I got it, so may stick to that. Otherwise, all good. Perfect. Nothing new, nothing wrong, no issues. Drives like a beast. Took it on a late night cruise last night and still just like day one. Except when I let it sit for weeks on end, the Goodyear Eagle's flat spot a bit and you feel it a little. I don't get the best mileage, but with the power the turbo has and the fun of the turbo surge being so smooth, big deal. Washed last week: And downtown Philly in a dirt lot: Only complaints remain those Brembo brakes that blow thick brown goo after even a couple light stops, and that it doesn't have Intellilink to give me voice control over the Infotainment like a 2013. Oh well. If the brakes annoy, I can always get them swapped, but they stop so well why bother. Vroom. -
Sounds like a good find. I often wonder if I was not doing what I am now, and didn't have the Regal GS lease I never drive anyway, what would peak my interest. Wait and see what you've found, sounds interesting.

Last week...forgot...a white 2006 or earlier GMT-800 Silverado Extd Cab 4x4 Hybrid. Totally looked normal until I saw the green "Hybrid" badges on the front doors. Little old man driving it from the gas station. One of the first, before the new gen switchover. Don't know if I've ever seen more than 2 of these total.

And now new production numbers are down from where they used to be, so there's less of them all around. Less inventory = higher demand and pricing.

The problem is these dealers are now allowed to sell a new vehicle to you, per the rules. They can sell you pre-owned but not new due to warranty and other regulations, even if you were to accept a no longer valid warranty. Rules of doing business on new cars now.

My Cruze's green badge doesn't want to be there either...
caddycruiser replied to the_yellow_dart's topic in The Lounge
No, as long as they are the stick on variety (no clips), few will be hard pressed to notice. They can still be under warranty, perhaps, if you'd like them replaced. -
Very cool OC car cruise sights. Even living near for years, I've never been but my brother goes every year and enjoys. Got rainy over the weekend throwing event off a bit, but great photos above.

Acura News: Acura Makes Some Upgrades To The 2014 ILX
caddycruiser replied to William Maley's topic in Acura
Having sold our 2nd ILX to arrive last year, and been with the car for a year now, it has been interesting to watch. The ILX and TSX are still too very different cars, the TSX giving a firmer and more powerful euro feel all around with a more finely tuned interior, and the ILX offering more exterior style, smaller packaging, even more efficient 4-cyl, less weight, more tech features, and lower cost. It took some time to gain traction, like ANY new product, but now really has and all of our ILX clients very much enjoy the car. Almost all are leased, which is common for the class, and you cannot beat the program for the amount of car you get. Initially we were concerned how it didn't seem to totally feel like the same caliber as a TSX or TL, but after time realize it isn't supposed to. It's supposed to give a new smaller step into Acura, with more tech and more efficiency. I think it's quieter and smoother than my TSX and just as fun to toss around in an Acura/Honda way. Initially too was the commentary on the 2.0L not being enough vs. the 2.4L, but in reality I've had 1-2 people mention this, and everyone else is pleased with the 2.0L exactly as it is. The base model cloth seat car and then more so the next step up Premium with leather, bigger wheels and camera are the volume sellers. If there's one combination we need more of...it's the 2.4L 6-spd Premium model, as there's more demand for the 6-spd stick in this car than any of our others, plus the Premium is already the perfect ideal package of leather and everything including screen/camera but not the nav few people want to pay for anyway. Now the base model will look exactly like a Premium but without a few features like the fog lights, etc. Good move, though I have some clients who prefer the standard cloth car exactly as it already was. It is NOT a Civic, and from my clients who've replaced Civics with an ILX, that commentary has continued with more they notice day by day. Our TSX is slowly fading away, but it too remains a combination of style, performance, looks and euro package/drive that make it unique. The ILX really took over for a lot of it, even with a different feel. Give me more and make them 6-speeds and Premiums, and we'll be fine to go, with more updates for later years. This car does not need the rush re-do of the Civic, as it already started many steps ahead and without the issues the 2012 Civic saw. I think over the few years, upgrade the interior further and if the 2.4L is added, that will only do more. -
Love it or hate it looks, excellent. The trouble with this car are the driving dynamics at the core. Hyundai checks a lot of boxes, and has cool looks and package...but something about the drive and final engineering just isn't...totally..there. You feel how they matched the price tag after a while.

Black 2014 Acura RLX rolling down the highway yesterday. Not sure if it was one we sold or from elsewhere. Jewel Eye lights look great doing down the road.

Awesome collection! I still have shelves and shelves of 1/18th scale die-cast models at my parents house, all over the place. Used to love buying them all, usually newer vs. classic models. Properly displayed, yours look great. Need a few more?

In a center city parking lot today, another Regal GS with NY plates in Black Diamond, as I left. Rare birds. Earlier on the street walking, a Murano Cross Cabriolet with all windows and top down, just sitting there in a space. Talk about wide open space from above...

Have a great time. I was just thinking yesterday...Florida would be great right now. Enjoy!

The 3.0L does not get enough credit, and while it lacked a bit of torque vs. the 3.6L version...as said above, it is NOT a night and day difference. A difference, but you have to be familiar with both to notice. We've now had (2) Terrains in the family, the latest one only for 2 months. Zero issues with either, and the 2011 3.0L AWD aside from some dirt and dog hair, was just as nice and tight at 30k miles as new. The 2013 with the 3.6L makes several details that much nicer, but minorly so. Only complaints have been road noise on the highway and the same lack of rear HVAC vents others mentioned, given the size of the car. Other than that, great build quality, looks, comfort, and power/mileage from the V6 models. Hopefully the next ones do lose bulk but don't shrink to the point they feel smaller, but are more efficient.

I sold the '96 I had bought. He has a different '96 L wagon in white with over 200k, and a red 2000 L wagon stick. White one for sale as of now, and the 2000 should go too.
