  1. It definately is a nice looking car, and the first model year definately got the best looking wheels...which worked well with the cladding, that I actually liked. How many miles and what's needed to be fixed/repaired over the years?
  2. EVERY car uses plastic on the interior...but depending on the combination of shapes and the grades of the materials and how it all fits together is what matters. I never understand why some people get into a "soft" fight on this forum, because just about every BMW and VW uses very firm or hard pieces, but the LOOK and what you actually FEEL in normal use is all very nice. That's a cool car, no doubt, but I agree that the interiors in them were horrid. Just ugly from a style point of view, with all the blobs and el-cheapo little circular "airplane" vents, plus the red lighting. But that's just me. It probably is very functional and comfortable, overall, just would be a LOT more so with a new dash and door panels. The same is true of our Suburban--it's actually a really plain design, but riddled with cheap details, yet in the end, it's still a very comfortable and easy operate in space...just not one to be proud of, given what it cost

I agree. It seems to have all the brash boldness that's made the current one so successful, but with a lot more attention paid to refining those bold outside lines just a bit and completely re-inventing the interior. Looks every bit as "Wow, look at that" as the current one, but just like it's moved up a step or two in the class department

A bunch of new, up-close exterior ones by someone on a Camaro board: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=447381 Some samples:
  5. Hmm...very good though there. Wonder if they might have something like that in the works?
  6. I love the color too, especially with the chrome wheels--very classy I was "theoretically" spec'ing out my ideal Sky the other day and came up with one with every option INCLUDING automatic trans, and then chose white/beige top/beige leather. Now, if I could just scrounge up the $26k
  7. It was an Ebay auction, and after it ended, the seller took the pics down...hence, why the links don't work anymore.
  8. Well, the first one they had never sold and the second one (when it became the Stratus) really never sold, so don't bet on it. In truth, these vehicles (Sebring/Avenger) seem to have been in development for so long, especially after some early delays, I sure hope they're damned perfect...and not even the least bit out of date like a lot of GM's end up. Then again, it is Chrysler, and that's been a really good thing to be lately
  9. I'm not sure why I'm even taking the time to respond to this...but you're an IDIOT. Every company has recalls from time to time, GM included, and Chrysler doing this for such a small part on new vehicles shows that they recognized the issue, fixed it, and are spending the money to make sure it is no longer a problem on any of the van's affected. Then again, I forgot--anytime there's a report of ANY competing brand to GM having a recall, regardless of how miniscule it is, a few people always jump out of the woodwork here and throw a party, singing the praises of GM.
  10. I wish they had a Buick 200k+ mile club. Dad is at 196k on his '92 Roadmaster, and most people who see it refuse to believe it has anymore than 50-60k on it. Matter of fact, anyone else seeing a similar opportunity here for ANY GM vehicle? I know the trucks have the beefiest image, but there's almost as many GM cars out there at the 200k mark or better...heck, I know 2 people personally with Fleetwoods like mine well over 350k and still mostly original, down to their untouched LT1's. Hmm...I REALLY hope they can get some good commercials out of this
  11. There's been a few Suburbans and Avalanches on and off Ebay for over a week now. Currently: White Suburban 2LT 2wd: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-WHITE-AU...1QQcmdZViewItem Bermuda Blue Suburban LTZ 2wd: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-BLUE-AUT...1QQcmdZViewItem Sunburst Orange Avalanche LTZ 4wd: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUNBURST-OR...1QQcmdZViewItem White Suburban LTZ 4wd (slightly used): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/certificate...1QQcmdZViewItem I love these new ones even more, particularly the Suburban--just a gorgeous truck, and SO much nicer than our '04.
  12. Well, this is actually a kind of oddball review. Most other places actually glow over it a bit. That, and you can bet your life on it, GM only WISHED they could ever come up with an interior of equal quality and style for a mid-size sedan, or a powertrain as smooth and creamy, or a structure so solid and composed...
  13. Thanks...I thought I was unnaturally obsessed with the '93 my father bought for me to use for school and stuff, but that was only a start, and the main reason why I bought the '95. Just a very, very cool car, especially since they're so rare and so few people actually knew they were the "Impala SS in a tuxedo" for a few years.
  14. I agree, strangely, BUT it's the "...was wallowy, the steering was rubbery, the seats were flimsy, and the build-quality was horrid..." that would scare me out of ever, god help it, owning one.
  15. I think you're in the minority on that, hence the deletion :AH-HA_wink: Certainly seems accurate based on what actually has been moving off dealer lots.
  16. Oooh...I can just imagine an LS7-powered Fleetwood
  17. Yes, I really didn't have to fix much of anything (this car was already pretty immaculate and well cared for), there were (and still are) just a few things I wanted to change/improve. It's definately nicer now than when I bought it, though, and still hasn't cost me a whole lot As for the seat repair, I got the kit from this place and am REALLY impressed with it: http://www.leathermagic.com They work well with even older leather that's just lightly cracked up or has worn coloring too.
  18. Yes, actually, it's all in the controls. Apparently, and especially based on some marketing videos I've seen for the car, the intention was to make everything inside and bare bones simple and easy to use as possible...the only problem being that this made for, among other things, a climate control you have very, very little control over. As stock, on a Fleetwood, you CANNOT control where the fan actually blows, and there's only really 3 fan speeds--High Auto, Low Auto, and just Low. My father and I hated this with a passion, and could never figure out why his Roadmaster's climate control unit had SO much more control options on it. Then last December a guy one one of the Fleetwood owner clubs/boards picked up a Roadmaster climate unit and realized it would plug right in and work, you just needed to make up brackets for it to bolt into the Caddy's dash correctly. It was a strange thing, definately, and I've never seen another climate unit that had less control choices in any car EVER...and now, with the Roadmaster control, it really is like a completely different (and now more "normal") car.
  19. Where have you been? There hasn't been an Impala with a 3.8 since the last gen, '00-05 model.
  20. Well at least SOMEONE is finally working on the line of barf-worthy Buick wheels...
  21. The current ones are actually still really fresh and recent--these "new" ones are just more bored out versions of those.
  22. Either that, or the team working on the feature (for all GM vehicles that use it) have no idea what they're doing. A few years have passed and never has there been a good professional review of the GM systems, yet the EPS's made by every other manufacturer in the world are usually praised for their feel...so there HAS to be at least a few idiots somewhere inside GM R&D. Trust me, looking at over our Roadmaster, Fleetwoods, or even the Suburban, that point is even clearer :AH-HA_wink:
  23. Oh yeah, that.... Sorry in advance for anyone who might be offended, but that car just seems to go through varying levels of stink...nasty electric steering, el-cheapo interior, some of the goofiest and ungainly sedan exterior proportions, unimpressive powerplants, etc. At least they FINALLY did drop the electric steering on the sportier trims and also are throwing the HF 3.6 in the GTP, but there's just too many other things leaving it hanging in the dust and out of touch...
  24. Yeah. Went from: (LK5) 2.8L DOHC, 4-cylinder, MFI engine (L52) 3.5L DOHC, 5-cylinder, MFI engine to: (LLV) Engine, 2.9L DOHC 4-cylinder MFI (185 hp [137.9 kW] @ 5600 rpm), 195 lb-ft [263.2 Nm] @ 2800 rpm) (LLR) Engine, 3.7L DOHC 5-cylinder MFI (242 hp [180.4 kW] @ 5600 rpm), 242 lb-ft [326.7 Nm] @ 4600 rpm) Good move, though I never could figure out why they went with such paltry sizes/ratings in the first place.
  25. FINALLY...they've gotten rid of the puke-worthy Lacrosse wheels, updated the Equinox interior, gotten rid of the geriatric blue/beige Lucerne interior, etc., etc. Looks like good stuff to me, at least the bare minimum of what was absolutely necessary.
