  1. Read between the lines, what this means is, no G6 coupe next time (just the disguised Malibu sedan), and no NG Cobalt based G5.
  2. CAPTIVA SPECIAL HAS THE ‘EDGE’ * Special edition Captiva seven seater with 20-inch alloys and side bars * Distinctive ‘Zest Brown’ paint, free of charge (other colours optional) * Over £2,400 worth of free kit and just £19,995 on-the-road You too could have the ‘Edge’! For a strictly limited period, Chevrolet is offering a limited edition ‘Edge’ version of the popular Captiva SUV, with over £2,400 worth of extras free of charge. The seven-seater ‘Edge’ model is based on the 2.0 VCDi LT model and is available to order from Chevrolet retailers, priced at £19,995 – a saving of £1,145 against the standard Captiva 2.0 VCDi LT with seven seats. As well as the already impressive list of standard equipment featured in the Captiva LT, which includes air conditioning, front fog lamps, a radio CD Player with MP3 capability, electronic stability control, power-operated door mirrors, electric front and rear windows, descent control and a neat, two-piece glass flip tailgate, the ‘Edge’ edition adds striking Irmscher 20-inch Evo Star alloy wheels and distinctive chrome side bars. What’s more, those who order the Captiva Edge in the model’s distinctive launch colour of Zest Brown, a bold orangey-copper shade, will also get the metallic paint thrown in without cost – a reward for driving one of the most noticeable Captivas on the road! The limited edition adds even more great value for money to the Captiva range and will further strengthen Chevrolet’s growth in the UK market – in January, sales grew by 81% versus January 07, which followed on from overall sales growth of 27.6 % in 2007. But hurry – the Captiva Edge is a genuine limited edition and will only be on offer for cars ordered before March 17, 2008.
  3. FYI, for those who talk about history, it is AM General which has always made the military jeeps (as Willys, then American Motors General Products etc.), and never Chrysler. Chrysler, through American Motors, acquired the derivative Jeepster branch of the jeep's heritage..
  4. Actually, in much of the world "jeep" is a generic term for an SUV. Beijing Jeep made Russian-based 4x4s and only later added actual Jeeps. Mahindra's were sold in Europe as Mahindra Jeep. The Land Cruiser model code is J- for jeep, etc. Willys never protected the brand name (which was a colloquial term to start with), and Chrysler has had an uphill battle convincing people outside of NA that only their Jeeps should be called jeeps.
  5. http://www.mediaseed.tv/Story.aspx?story=34464 More video, more on concepts in general but focusing on the Denali.
  6. Cobalt Fuel economy is as good or better than he Corolla and Civic when you compare similar engines, but the Japanese models have it beat when you add their standard 1.8 liter powertrains. The Astra should be better, but then the 1.8 is a performance, not an economy option there, and doesn't yet offer the Aisin 6-speed auto or GM 6-speed manual. For comparable or better economy GM really needs to use the 1.4 and 1.6 turbos.
  7. The MDX is sold widely overseas as a Honda (there is no Pilot outside NA).
  8. No. 33K was and is the 3.6 L (the new model is $60 more) The 2.8 CTS with 5-speed auto started at $30K (it used to be $28K), but then it's a size class up with the Acura TL and Saab 9-5. A TSX compares with a 9-3 2.0T with 2 more hp, and the new A4. The smaller S60, C230, and IS250 with just over 200 hp each are all a little over $30K. Of course for under $30K you could get a V6 G8, Maxima, 300, LaCrosse or Avalon with a good deal more power, and soon enough a Hyundai Genesis as well. An Impala SS, G8 GT or Charger R/T V8 is not much more (a larger V8 Lucerne is much more expensive).
  9. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the G8 looks, so much better than the Commodores I see everyday.
  10. Yeah, more VW CrossFox than a real SUV. You can even get one without the crossover pretensions, and even as a sedan.
  11. The Grand Vitara is now bigger than the HHR, The Vitara is gone, there is only the Jimny Sierra, and that is deemed too small for the US (even smaller than the Rush).
  12. Toyota has a newish (later than the RAV4) smaller truck like the old Tracker in its portfolio (even rwd/awd), the Daihtasu Terios/Toyota Rush. There's a reason they don't sell it in many markets—people want something bigger.
  13. The Freestar was not "dramatically worse" as you put it. It was just due for replacement. The low transaction prices compared to a CUV is what convinced Ford to make the Flex a "crossover" instead of a "minivan", and why GM decided to kill the minivans based on the Lambda architecture. Most people don't need the extra cargo capacity or the low loading height. As for the tracker, sure there's a market, but the Vue and Captiva would sell 8-12K+ a month in the US (even the HHR without awd sells 8K+ in a good month), and a smaller truck like the Tracker would sell half that, or less. Not even Toyota could sell 8K a month of the old small RAV4. Canada is just not that big a market to make a smaller truck a priority (the Gamma trucklets will probably not be that small, but more HHR-sized).
  14. If you look up hatch in the dictionary it will even say "a small door…". It's not a lid, it's not a window, it's a door.
  15. And what do you call the "doors" on the back of a Savana? They are doors, whether they open vertically of horizontally, whether you load people or cargo through them.
  16. And this is why GM and Ford decided not to sell minivans anymore.
  17. The single rear white light is probably a curb light for reversing (lights up the curb just behind the rear wheel), since you don't need one on both sides. My Opel Corsa (aka Holden Barina) has one, it comes in real handy. FYI so-called "fog" lights are actually illegal in some countries (whether this is rear red lamps or just the stupid extra ones at the front I don't know).
