no they didn't. I am not an expert by any means but I have heard that a non LSD will sometimes spin both tires in a straight line. But thats still not the same as LSD. Probably not when cornering though.

The Volvo would be close no doubt. M/T tested it and got 7.4 to 60mph and 15.0 in the 1/4 mile. I think the Vues faster to 60mph but the Volvo appears to catch it by the end. The Volvo is about 4800lbs--over 1000lbs heaver too and its hp to weight ratio is worse. Reguardless---I look forward to roasting Escapes, Santa Fe, Liberty ect :P

your (obviously politely) trying to tell me that the Solstice has an Eaton Locker?? Every car I have with posi left two blackstripes.
-
Awesome ride---I love TBs and the SS is the best.

Plus if you want to light 'em up off the line you'll leve two black streaks and not a single one which looks gay :P

My wife bought this last week. One one of the last 05 V6 AWD Vues in Canada. Has the nice 17" tires too. Only option was the MP3 player. Very, very smooth Honda 3.5L DOHC V6. Sounds awesome too. First tank of gas got great mileage 8.7L per 100km or in english that means 26.9 US MPG (or 32.4 CDN mpg) City driving too. Can't wait to break it in a let her loose! :P Fastest FWD based SUV in the market---well 2nd fastest thanks to that 269hp RAV4  :AH-HA_wink: No real complaints--the window switches are placed oddly, no hatch release on the FOB (I don't think there is an interior one either) and the interior could be a bit better. Like the design but is too plasticy to the touch. Overall were very happy--nothing else (RAV4 excluded) comes close for power and thats high up on the list for us. Being a GM fan I wold like to see a GM V6 in the next generation BUT only if its as good. I am glad they did not put that old, gutless 3.4L in the Vue. Too bad the Torrent/Equinox got stuck with that lame duck engine. Next gen a 260+hp 3.6L and 6 speed auto better be in the cards. Speaking of which, I really like the Vues tidy dimensions. I feel the Equinox/Torrent is too big, encroaching on Trailblazer territory. The wheelbase makes them look stretched and the rear looks like a minivan.

I like the older front end....the new one is too busy. Also the 3.5L V6 Vue hauls ass! :P

It could easily do 200hp with direct injection or not. Remember the Acura RSX has a 205hp 2.4L. Its a question of will, money ect. GM is always big on a nice fat torque curve and does not go for real high rpm power--not like Toyota and Honda. While my 2.4L SS has VVT---I suspect its a very mild system that does little to optimize a high hp number. More for torque and emissions I bet 171hp is good but I would sure like to see close to 200hp. Tweak the VVT add direct injection, change the cams is about all it would take.

I have read magazine reviews of the C5 and C6 Corvettes. Many writers state that if Chevrolet put the same effor into every car they build that they would be much beter cars. I like the SS line up, lots of variety. A RWD car or two would be good as well but theres nothing wrong with a FWD SS. And for the record--my 2.4L Cobalt SS can smoke a 67-69 350 SS Camaro. And mine was developed by GM Performance Division just like the 2.0 S/C SS.

Don't confuse a show car that lists a number for hp and a production car. Sure the 2.0L Trbo direct injection could make alot more hp but they have to think of warrany, gas mileage, emissions, cost ect. Okay now make a coupe and I may consider one for my next car.

yep--Motor Trend sucks balls. They try for real artsy photography to cover for the pathetic writting but it doesn't work at all. Pics are grainy, blurry and werid most of the time. I was thinking of subscribing but not a chance. Each issue I buy is very disapointing, like a diet soft drink. If there is a test on a car I really like, I might buy it.

Should Pontiac make a 4-cylinder G6 Coupe?
avro206 replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
Lets take a moment and disect the 95 Qaud 4: 150 hp at 6000 rpm and 145 lb.-ft. at 4800 rpm now the 2.4L Ecotec in G6 application 167hp at 6300 rpm and 163 lb.-ft @4500rpm More power down low and up high. A broader power band! 1995 was about the worst year for the Quad 4---for power that is. They nutered it with balance shafts and the hp and redline plumeted. I had a road test from Car and Driver, I believe. It was 9.0 to 60mph and 17.0 in the 1/4 mile. I'd bet money that a 5 speed G6 2.4L Ecotec could beat those numbers. The VVT really helps the midrange torque curve. Viper---if your looking for a replacement for you GA---the G6 is not the answer. It has grown up and is a much biggger car then the 95 Grand Am. Look at the 2.4L Cobalt SS! I have one--and I raced a Beretta GTZ HO QUAD 4. And I beat him by 0.5 sec and 3-4 mph. I do see your point about the slowness og the G6 GT VS the 99-04 Grand Am GT. My wife has an 00 and I do find it stupid the G6 GT is slower. -
Should Pontiac make a 4-cylinder G6 Coupe?
avro206 replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
This thread kills me! :P Its not like a 1.6L 4cly would be put in coupes. Secondly its already in the 4 door-----so why all fuss over a 2 door? Honda Accords come in a 2 dr 4 cly. Unfortunately man does not live by aceleration alone. Most of on this board love power ect but the average person does not place such a high priority on it. So you cannot realistically expect GM to do the same. But thats what the Z06's, G6 GTP, Cobalt S/C SSs are for. US! The car nuts. Rest of the cars and engines are for non car people. They want a nice ride, a modest amount of power and good gas mileage. A G6 coupe with the 2.4L Ecotec sounds like it can fullfill that, no problem. If GM can boost sales by offering the coupe with the 2.4L Ecootec----then they should try. They NEED to sell all the cars they can these days. And an FYI---the 2.4L Ecotec is a very good engine. It has more torque down low then the peak numbers suggest. So try to objectively read my post and then insist that its wrong to put the 2.4L Ecotec in the coupe. And if you want to talk about bad power to weight ratios, H3 is king. 4800lbs (give or take) 220hp= 21.8lbs per hp! ugh! -

The weight penaly would be pretty small I think. An thus any mileage/performnce would be almost unnoticeable. Can't imagine too many G6 buyers wantinf a club sport 4 cly G6 -
better yet....its 650lbs-ft of torque!

What GM? GTO baby! We Canadiand are robbed as we don't get it. If it was an SUV then a Trailblazer SS. If I needed 4 doors--a CTS-V What Ford? umm....Ford has nothing I would buy. Don't like their trucks and the cars are really tame. What Chrysler? SRT-8 for a car and a SRT-10 Qaud cab for a truck What Euro? Well BMWs got ugly so thats out. Used to like A4s but they got ugly too :( I have no idea! What Asian? Mazda Speed 6 I guess. Its a pretty neat car. Mazda is about the sportiest of the Asian car makers. Honda and Toyota are pretty boring. I need excitement and power!! :P
-
A Honda/Acura with a few problems, you don't hear that often. I think they have too much hype--they are good no doubt but some people think they are perfect. Is yours a Type S or regular? I bought a 2006 2.4L Cobalt SS and have 6000kms on with zero problems. My brother in-law owns a 2005 TL and he says my car is quiter inside then his. Both have been to the track and his car is only 0.2 sec faster. If I ever come up to Bud Park in 06 would you be up for a race? (well it'd probably be a beating but its all in good fun :P )

Mazda 3 is 160hp and the weights are in the 2900lbs range and the G6 range is 3200-3500lbs. -
and what do you expect the crankshaft to made of?? A car like this will not have a forged crank......but it does have forged con rods. Its the exhaust people! Extra braces that convertibles often cut a few hp. Nothing wrong with 227hp

WHAT??? No Coblats? Losers

avro206 replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
They should try it out and see what happens. Slower then the V6: Check Whats your point?? Very few people buy on the basis of hp and accleration. Look at Hummers! They are all slow but people buy them. A 2.4L 5 speed G6 would be okay and could easily beat a 2.2L Malibu and a H3!! :P -
and they are soooo ugly! Paint the mirrors GM!
-
I love the GXP too. Looks great!

Black 96 SS--they got the centre console and analoge guages. I do like the 06 SS too

I finally have one of these in the driveway

I was goona say Cobalt until I scrolled down :P Good purchase. Just two things...gearing is the same as the Grand Am GT but your right better then regular GA. For speed its probably the same as the GAGT---cause the G6 gained a few hundred punds which offset most of the perofmrance of the more powerful engine. Congrats on the new car. My wife has GAGT--maybe we should go test a GTP.... :AH-HA_wink:
