  1. umm...Cadillac CTS! It has the 3.6L. No RWD 3.9L yet
  2. we will NEVER see to V6 engines. Thats just duplication, plain and simple. GM has a 3.2L HF that would work. Maybe 240hp. I feel a DI 3.6L HF would be too close to the power of the base V8. They need a 300+hp V8 in the middle on the way to a 6.2L 400hp+ V8. Could be 5.3L--330hp would be great. And screw the S/C--427 please! Only Ford has to S/C engines to get power out of them!
  3. I hope its not Stingray. The name, has no historical performance conotations. In fact, it was on the some of the slowest Corvettes ever made the C3 (70's the car was ugly and slow!) ZR1 gets my vote

most the S/C SS owners on Cobaltss.net beleive their S/C LSJ will survive! lol Not a chance with this new DI 2L Turbo. Looks like an awesome engine.
  5. Chevrolet considered making a DOHC 350 sbc for the ZR1. But they did not. The LT5 was a clean sheet design that shared nothing in common excpet the 4.4 bore centres. Apparently this was done at some morons directive and compromised the valve sizes, compromising hp.
  6. Fact is there is an improvement in fuel economy and performance. Now were are talking under 10% but it is still worth while to squeeze that extra gas milage for CAFE. Now why are people against 6 speed autos?
  7. damn thats slow. But if you can live with it. R/T has no bearing on what your run is. You have to trip the beam to start the clock. Is that ext acb, 2WD, 4wd ect, what gears?
  8. yup. My buddy had one and he got 17-18mpg in his commute (3.42 4 wheel drive) Great engine.
  9. more power is better but its still not enough. Needs another 40+hp and torque and 6 speed auto. Still, they might be able to beat a milk truck now!
  10. well the 4.2L destroys that with 291hp and 275lbs-ft. 4.3 is a crude engine that should die.
  11. Powerplant upgrades are great. 6 speed autos would have been greater still. But exterior stlying--its an ugly duckling.
  12. Is the 2.4L in the Solstice (and other models) getting a hp boost?
  13. yeah they also once said the GMC Syclone had the Grand National engine!
  14. I don't really buy that. Because number one---if they put it in say 2500 GTOs, 2500 Camaros and 2500 CTS V's--that would barely make a dent. They could limit production. Number 2: A S/C 6.2L or tightly wound high rpm 500hp 6.2L would get some real close fuel numbers to the 427 I think. Can't be far off at all IMO Add DOD to the 427. I think they should worry about CAFE where they sell alot of cars. The Epsilons are far heavier then the competiton. And while the 6 speed auto is coming out its not across the board....yet. GM keeps talking direct injection (that is suppose to help fuel economy I beleive.) for Ecotecs and HF V6 cars--but other the the new 2L Turbo--no car has it.
  15. Wouldn't it have to rev awfully high to get 500hp NA from 6.2-6.3L? It has not typically been GMs way to rev the heck out of engines just to get a high peak hp number. I love the 427 LS7. That number has so much heritage. Why'd they even bother to make it if its only going to be around a few year and only in the Corvette? Get this in the Camaro/ GTO/ CTS-V and RWD Impala! Maybe a Truck version too
  16. wow--its the 60's again! So many engines--4! Very odd---but I like it. Nice to see the GT get an optional 3900. The curent 200hp GT is a joke--its slower then the last Grand Am GT! Sure I'd like to see more use of the 6 speed auto though. The 227hp rating is disapointing though.....maybe thats an error?? Now this makes me curious as to the Malibu.....surely it will get a few changes.
  17. wow---what a gorgeous blue!!!!!
  18. CTS is RWD--the Aura would need a fwd trans---one from the GTP would work....
  19. And Altimas. If this car is truly going after imports it needs to mimick them and that includeds a 4 cly. However, it would need the 6 speed auto and a manual to help the 2.4L overcome the mass of the Aura
  20. wow--that navy blue looks awesome Oh and does anyone know if the 5 speed auto will be availible on the Redline? Wife loves it but shes an automatic girl.
  21. Well its still based on Epsilon so dimensions can't really change. It is a bit heavy but that would not stop me from buying one over Accord or (UGLY) Camry. Nice 224hp V6 as a base. I think they do need a 2.4L 170 Ecotec in there as well, just to cover all the bases. And a 6 speed manual.
  22. well I think it looks great! And I am a current Vue owner.
  23. Glad to see they got the 3.6L to more then 250hp. Very surprised at the 3.5L hp outptut. They should upgrade every application of the3500 to these specs. Aura looks great!!
  24. Looks like a nice piece of work. The torque capacity is more then enough for a V6. Even a small displacement blown V6 I think. As for handling V8 levels--I don't think thats an issue. If Impala goes RWD then it will use the stronger RWD 6 speed.
  25. The press I have found on the 3.9L OHV give it credit for its upper rpm thrust and smoothness. But wait next test they'll criticize that!
