  1. One of the most mocked countries in the world, France, utilizes nuclear power for 75% of their energy. they recycle 90% of their fuel rods. Their energy is far more secure and less polluting than ours. The French clearly trust nuclear energy enough, why are Americans so afraid? Now, there are other types of nuclear reactors, such as Thorium reactors for those people who are worried about the supply of Ur on this planet. When well designed and maintained, they provide safe, clean power with relatively little waste. Coupled with other alternative energies (hybrid cars, hydrogen cars, CNG cars whatever as well as wind, geothermal, tidal etc power) and a little domestic drilling, this could go a long way to gaining our energy independence. And to Moltar and his anti-military style rifles. This is an AR-15 rifle in .22LR, it has a fake suppressor that makes the barrel longer than 16" so that it is legal, like any other civilian rifle it is semi-automatic only. .22LR is a relatively weak round, suitable for not much more than punching paper or killing squirrels. It is a SCARY looking rifle (Evil Black Rifle). It is NOT used by the military, although it is built off the same platform as the M16. Clearly this rifle needs to be banned yes?
  2. Obama supports nuclear power right?
  3. Please, define assault rifle. No wait i will define it for you. Now uhm, a semi-automatic sporter AK-47 is not an assault rifle by definition. Not to mention the AK-47 isn't terribly accurate. it IS used for hunting (the round is powerful enough for some game like deer). An AR-15 rifle (looks like an M16 for you people who don't know what it is, except it only fires in semi-automatic) is only powerful enough for some smaller game or MAYBE a really good shot to the head of an animal. It is often used as a match quality rifle in shooting competitions. Now why do both of these rifles need to be banned?
  4. mmmmm bayonet?
  5. Good for them. Fear is better if us LAW ABIDING people are the ones that instill it in criminals and not the other way around.
  6. Well in that case i wish respectfully withdraw my use of that comment.
  7. And what, pray tell, do you want the president to do for the economy? We can reduce our debt, and thats about it. we are NOT in a recession as many people would like you to think (although its not good, but its not a recession). As with any other president that comes after a weak economy president, the next president will be attributed with a strong economy regardless of their actions (as its the natural way the economy rolls). However, by mere irony, the weak dollar has actually PROMOTED manufacturing IN the USA (also thanks to high fuel costs). Its ironic, but its true. Not saying its a good or bad thing, just kinda odd. Yep, any talk about the economy is mere lip service. Americans affected by our economy obviously don't want to hear this, but its the truth. The Bush administration has bandaged and prodded along what was left of this economic cycle. Coupled with our large deficit, this has led to... well now. We could have just left the economy gone into a recession and then fallen back into a strong cycle, but this is what happens when you try and artificially manipulate the economy.
  8. And there is no militia larger than the unorganized militia. In the short history of the 20th century only, we have seen oppressive governments take away gun rights. Nazi germany did it, an unarmed citizenry is an easy target to be controlled. If you think OUR government is invasive, in England you are nearly constantly on camera if you are out in public. Now, since you seem to think gun ownership is directly tied to crime rates, go take a look at Switzerland, the 2nd largest market for civilian guns per capita. Every household, nay, every citizen has an ASSAULT RIFLE in their home (and no, not the "assault rifles" that our government banned, im talking selective fire, full automatic guns. Not the semi-automatic rifles that we have here in America, which just happen to be built off the same platform as the military versions). Yet the swiss dont have large problems with gun crimes. Criminals will use whatever they have available to commit crimes, heck in England they have even used AIR RIFLES (lol!). The left seems very keen on protecting their 1st amendment rights, but to completely ignore, and destroy any sibilance of the 2nd amendment. This is unacceptable behavior for ANY American to treat parts of our constitution as more important than others. Once the 2nd Amendment falls, then ALL of the constitution is fair game (and why not, as it apparently is no longer the greater law of the land at that point).
  9. Pro 2A VP gets my vote. Besides, where you people get off saying people "cling to their guns". Some people use them for self-defense, some use them to hunt, and some just like shooting paper and cans with them, however, the media + the left have managed to convince Americans that guns are evil and are to be scared. Ever noticed that differences in crime seem to have very little if any difference regardless of gun laws? Look at England, they are now going after Knifes. Obama and Biden are the largest anti-gun ticket in the history of the USA. And with they they will have drawn the anger of one of the largest most powerful lobby institutions, the NRA. I'm, sure at some point we will be seeing "issue" ads from some subsidiary of the NRA. just my 2 cents on an issue that's a non issue this election.
  10. What happened to the turbo 4? While 26MPG is pretty good for a heavy 6 cyl car that makes 300hp... i need something higher then that if im going to buy it.
  11. Well this gives me a bit more hope for a 250+ torque I4 Turbodiesel that gets sweet gas mileage. Although Diesel is incredibly expensive these days...
  12. Thats how poor people get implants.
  13. America has historically been distrusting of the Federal Government. What makes you think this is any different? the only difference now is that people have allowed the Feds to get larger.
  14. Inflation more important than recession.
  15. television
  16. Duddeeee you need to put a Plymouth badge on the back of it now.
  17. you know, despite all the crap Yugo gets, they arent that unreliable and they are dirt cheap to fix, even in the absence of actual yugo parts
  18. No way, brace yourself for a long line of interest rate hikes.
  19. On the plus side, the weak Dollar is encouraging more alternative fuels as well as helping our trade deficit.
  20. of course not, which is the classic case of a cartel thought. which is why i dont understand why the anti-trust guys arent on them like they were with standard.
  21. They could always build more refineries... its been... what 30 years?
  22. Music is any noise/sound that anyone considers appeasing to the ears. Fairly broad definition and definitely includes types of music that i cant stand but others seem to enjoy.
  23. So your saying our society can never become better, because whatever our societies morals are are always correct? Being homophobic in the 50s is just as moral and being more tolerant now? that doesn't make much sense (not that I'm saying your wrong, it just doesn't make sense to me). Yes but there were ethics before Christianity, which is where most people derive their "morality" from... or at least affiliate morals with religion. And since no religion is the same, ethics can never be fully universal. Therefore, it seems to me, that something is missing.
  24. The general idea behind the US system of capitalism, is that if companies are polluting too much, people can sue them for damages "ie. health problems" not just throw them at the mercy of the EPA. The idea is that over the years, cases against polluting companies are put into the annals of common law, then years later they are codified as state/federal law. The EPA is just a way to bypass this... but it does so at a rate that is much quicker, thus has a higher potential to significantly hamper the economy. The idea behind the free market (which is not perfect in any way) is that all corporations AND people are greedy. To satisfy the corporate CEOs needs, the company must produce something that consumers (greedy people) will actually buy. Therefore, the greed of the CEO is satisfied because they made a product that people are willing to pay their money for... both sides thereby gaining from the transaction. Now... with the oil companies... there is competition between the oil companies themselves, but it doesn't seem terribly intense. Plus there are few few actual alternatives that are socially attainable aside from oil for fuel... it is in situations like these where the free market doesn't work so hot. Still... the carbon credits may be unnecessarily stifling economic expansion... which has exponential losses over the course of a very long time. If we spend the next century hampering our economy due to perceived threats, and then at the end of the period learn that our initial ideas were flawed... the economy is going to be MUCH smaller that it would have otherwise (which means higher unemployment, or an overall lower standard of living). Now... this doesn't apply to every type of pollutant, obviously reducing smog has lots of health benefits and environmental benefits... which is why this is not a black and white situation.
