  1. You dont think that ole Rick woulda gotten the boot had GM been forced into Ch 11 as it should have?
  2. So, your telling me we need the government to keep meddling in bigger ways to correct their own errors from meddling in the economy in the first place? No, we need the Feds to remember their place in this Federal Republic and the Federal Reserve to be abolished, or severely hamstringed in their powers. A Gold Standard will help ensure our government wont go printing up money like its nothing and hopefully help convince our loving congress to be a bit more frugal in their endeavors - whatever they may be. Its the only way we can protect ourselves from the government creating more crap like this and then convincing everyone that THEY the government are your friends and will make everything better all while just grabbing more power. And i accuse both parties of doing this crap. And shadow. You are forgetting that a market will always come back. You can one day just cut off all government spending completely and the economy will suck eggs for a while. But you know what? It will come back with a vengeance stronger than ever after a while. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and last time i checked, if the government has to make do with less money, they will find ways to provide the services people demand in a far more frugal and efficient manner than they do today.
  3. Why again are we entrusting the rescue of, well everything, to the very people that enabled and furthered this disaster in the first place again?
  4. I do not identify with any other culture so I'm sticking with American, its about time American is recognized as an ethnicity anyways.
  5. Ive seen/heard of many foundations destroyed by tree roots. Its pretty amazing how much damage those roots can cause to concrete!
  6. While i appreciate that the government evaluated GM's plan in a manner that any company would do, the assessment is not all that deep nor offers any additional insights into anything. Of course management is going to pitch an overly optimistic plan, that's how you sell something then negotiate it to something you want. And who is going to run GM now? Some puppet of the government? This seems like nothing more than a not-so-subtle way to nationalize the company. I fear that i may be forced into a Mustang come time to buy a new car, as i will not be supporting a nationalized car company, nor some company that is partnered with FIAT.
  7. provided the trees roots dont slowly destroy the foundation that is.
  8. Lets see... i think i was on the phone, with all the lights on, frying steak (electric burners) while i also had 2 computers on. I think the TV was off though.
  9. make sure your potato cannon is powered by compressed air or CO2 otherwise it may be considered a "destructive device" in some states.
  10. They are held accountable... its called lawsuits.
  11. Well for another Californian view... This state is moving further down the road to disaster. Our legislature just sits around thinking of more and more asinine laws. There is no reason why this state even needs a full time legislature other than as welfare for the politicians in office. plus, Black is my favorite car color! CARB is perhaps one of the stupidest boards on the planet. Now, im not saying its all bad cause it really isn't, California's large metro areas still suffer from large amounts of smog so its fine to want to reduce smog levels (other parts of cali have awful air quality as well). BUT it is totally blind in its application. any aftermarket peice that is not "CARB certified" will automatically fail your car in a smog test even if that part leads to emission levels well within limits! Additionally, any non CARB certified part can garner you a ticket in your car by a LEO. This state passes laws just to be seen as "progressive" when all its doing is progressing our state from the most prosperous in the union down the road to destitution. ...However, im all for making all you other states be forced to accept California blended gasoline so that with economies of scale we can get gas as cheaply as the rest of you.
  12. I always listen to the radio in my car. Sometimes i even listen to it at home. I actually like all the stations around me, got some oldies, some good new music, good dance music. Nationally syndicated talk radio. Yep.
  13. I'd buy one.
  14. Yes, and what else do you expect a company to focus on? You do realize that a company will do whatever it takes to make money right? Thats why so many companies were "going green" because that was a marketing tactic (and sometimes somewhat substantial) that would garner the companies more profits because people were willing to pay for it. Do not forget that it is YOU who votes with your dollars how companies act to an extent.
  15. Didn't one of the former global warming activists admit that CO2 levels are actually historically quite low right now?
  16. I know plenty of people still sore at the bailout of Chrysler in the 80s.
  17. Individual corporations do not make a global government, globalization exists only due to first world's countries inability to compete in manufacturing due to various regulations and laws (not sayin that they are all bad of course). Besides, corporations are accountable to their shareholders (or stakeholders).
  18. Yep. Especially on cars, there are other sources of greenhouse pollution FAR greater than cars and they aren't even mentioned. Cars are merely the highest profile item in the minds of Americans. Plus, does reducing CO2 even lead to any reduction in air pollution?
  19. Thats only over the states. If i fly it to Hawaii i can have some fun once i hit international airspace right? ...assuming F-15s have enough fuel to make it from Cali to hawaii
  20. If i ever become a billionaire, i am going to get one of these. Civilians can get fighter jets as long as they have no weaponry on them right?
  21. haha cadillac, thats EXACTLY what i thought of when i saw the topic title.
  22. I believe a properly functioning one does. Not that a properly functioning one exists.
  23. the UN is a confederation of nations, and is, by nature, very weak. A world government would be awful, even less receptive to the needs of its citizens than current governments, and would be grossly inefficient with large swaths of lawlessness. ...unless you want a colonial system.
  24. Oh boy, whats that Oval Office icon with a picture of bill on it? pics of Monica?
  25. slightly over half my laptop desktop is covered with icons and about 3/4 of my desktop is covered by icons.
