  1. Don't mean to necropost, but i found a link to that FBI report saying that criminals ignore gun laws (hence making gun laws impede only law abiding peoples rights). http://www.calgunlaws.com/index.php/articl...entary/418.html Its kinda really long and unfortunately Adobe can't search it... but its in there somewhere.
  2. Why doesn't GM just sell their stake in the plant for liquidity?
  3. It'll be even brighter once we remedy the decisions that are made right now. But in all seriousness, tomorrow is another day, and then theres another after that and so on. Theres no point to get down on TODAY when you can change TOMORROW. The Depression sucked, but people got through it right?
  4. mmm i think i would rather drive a ricer civic than a G3 GXP. How about a ricer pinto?
  5. Im kinda getting bored of Teh Ricer Civic! myself. Maybe i oughta go with TRC! or Teh Ricer Fiesta! ... or i could go back to Open Minded, but I'm sure i would be derided for the inherent hippocracy of it.
  6. While i am intensely disappointed with the course of action that GM decided to take. I still defend GM and Ford (and sorta Chrysler) when i can. The only cars that GM will be producing that i am interested in is the Camaro and the Caddies, however that won't stop me from talking up the appliance models to would-be Toyota buyers. Although i admit, it is a very hard sale to convince people to buy GM when they are receiving government aid + are facing bankruptcy. Ford is a far easier sell, and i admit that i am also beginning to drift towards being a Ford fan. Also, don't forget that just because Pontiac won't be around now, that does not mean it cannot come back later. No reason Pontiac cannot be the sporty versions of Chevys (and not badge engineered, im talking tuned suspensions, bigger engines, the works)... kinda like how the GTO was created.
  7. Care to be more specific? What commercial? What was it about?
  8. Naw, they would have done the same exact thing Obama is doing considering McCain isn't really all that conservative, the only thing we could have relied on McCain for woulda been a smaller budget. Now if Ron Paul had won, he would've told the automakers and all the financial sectors to FOLLOW THE DAMN RULES and go Ch. 11. Both sides care more about votes than actual economic well being so don't try and act like they don't.
  9. ///Sigh/// I wish Bush hadn't started all this Bail-out crap... promoting inefficient market practices... extra bureaucracy... Bush was no economic/fiscal conservative, that's for sure! I suppose as long as GM retains the rights to Pontiac it would not be all that hard to reintroduce it at a later date.
  10. I guarantee you if gas were to skyrocket next year, the government would likely get heavily involved to keep prices down to "spur" the economy. Whether that is through subsidies or threats abroad i do not know, but they cannot afford to allow gas prices to skyrocket under their watch.
  11. The more things change, the more they remain exactly the same.
  12. Yep :AH-HA_wink: We need to isolate ourselves from the world, block off all trade, build walls around our borders, block all immigration. Only then will we have employment for all, and freedom from other countries. Although were going to need to annex Canada for their resources first...
  13. Well sixty you gotta win over the less libertarian people subtly... Besides its more like 90% private But yeah, i find it funny that people aren't blaming the government for this mess and instead are blaming CEOs... and its not even really partisan, its A) unbalanced spending (Bush and Obama are both guilty of this) and B) The Federal Reserve. I find it sad that people get so tied up in the Us vs Them Democrat vs Republican crap that they fail to see the real causes of our economic swings.
  14. So uh... since I'm kinda out of work... you guys think we could raise 652 million and buy Opel ourselves?
  15. Nono, you see, you buy a few thousand stocks while they are IN bankruptcy for like you know 100 bucks, and if they survive YOUR RICH!!!! lol, and if not its only 100 bucks.
  16. Pfft, what a load of bunk. This is not even close to the Depression and besides do you know who has been responsible for the depression, the inflation of the 70s and today's recession?? THE FEDERAL RESERVE. There is a reason the constitution puts the power to print money in congresses hand and not some private entity, which the Federal Reserve somewhat is.
  17. That officially means that GM is in default and thus bankrupt.
  18. how do you not see that there is someone in the car... i mean really...
  19. Woo rain! We need rain. I wonder if its gonna be one of those cool sunny & warm yet still raining out of seemingly nowhere rains?
  20. Ahh i love that show.
  21. Why on Earth would you BAN a font type???
  22. Aw man i put 3 perfectly good ice cubes in my water and they melted in 4 minutes and the drink still isn't even cold! stupid non ice-cube making refrigerator.
  23. Well luckily i grew up in a home that didn't mind... uh... sweltering to save some bucks on the electricity bill so i cant say I'm not used to it. Does that make me environmentally friendly?
  24. Oy vey! Its so warm and i have no AC!!!!!!!!!! :cries:
  25. Yeah but if your the creditor do you REALLY want to take the risk that GM will succeed by converting your debts into equity or would you rather just take a fraction of that money now and invest it into something with a more reliable cash stream? The decision is rather obvious, in bad times people are very risk adverse. Just because something is good for GM doesn't mean its good for everyone else. I feel that bankruptcy is the best course of action for GM at this time and i am confident they will emerge in a position capable of retaking #1.
