Oddly enough I've actually seen quite a few of them, we have several customers with old Caprices and all of them have the 4.3. I remember the first time I had to look up parts on one and was confused by the 4.3 with the engine code W, because I'm so used to looking up parts on the Vortec 4.3 V6 with engine code W.

I checked and it appears there are different #'s, and the wheelbase lengths were lsightly different, but it will work. He's right they used the same beds for years, up to '87. I've seen several trucks here with that stepside bed on the '88 and up body, so it can be made to work regardless.

I agree, almost all cars have a face, even some semis. The '93-'99 Bonnes without the spoiler look like butts. We've always called them the butt cars. LOL I love Bonnes though so don't kill me. I tried to find an image of one and couldn't find it.

It was a bad boy for it's time no doubt. Loved it, but if you still own one and can't work on it yourself, it could be a financial nightmare. We've had to resurrect a few that were almost destroyed by independent mechanics who shouldn't have touched it.

Yep, true dat, not sure what year though. We had a G-Van the other day, maybe an '83 or so and it had them on a plate on the firewall.

Dammit, you beat me to it. What a scary engine, I only know one guy whos willing to even try to work on one.

There shouldn't be any special combination of RPO codes. The E62, and the code in the corner designating long bed is all you'll find. I can do some digging to see if the part numbers for the bedsides, tailgate, etc. cover more years than '73-'77. We have an old truck book that goes back to the early 60's at least, the computer only goes back to '73. As far as the material used in the floorpan, I'll have to see if I can find RPO codes for that, I doubt it though, the older cars never listed more than just a few codes on the labels, not like todays cars. But, I will see what I can dig up tomorrow. It's much harder on the older ones, the catalogs just aren't as user friendly and seem to leave out a lot of info. GM won't be any help either. The ParTech guys don't know anymore than I do really.

Up in the corner of the RPO label there will be a code which designates the body style. A reg cab long bed regardless of stepside or not will read 10903, a shortbed reg cab will read 10703. The option code for a stepside is E62.

I finally found one photo on another site of an old Tulsa dealer. We had a lot of great downtown dealerships housed in 4-5 story buildings. I wish I could find some pics of those.

Camaro Engines? 4 Cylinder Turbo considered by Lutz
gmpartsgirl replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
Cylinder deactivation sucks. My Avalanche had it and the mileage still sucked. I got 16mpg on a good day. The old old body style did better. Like my bosses '99 burb gets in the twenties. -
My favorite holiday too! Not for the religious reasons, but because it means Spring, birds, flowers are coming. All the reasons I love lving here in Oklahoma. God this state is beautiful in the spring!! I'm so glad winter is over, I was about to lose my damn mind.

where the weep hole on a 2.4 chevy 99 malibu?
gmpartsgirl replied to tootal2's topic in Tech Section
It would probably cost you about $1500 to fix it at the dealership, but the compressor would have a lifetime warranty. It would still be cheaper than a payment. I would fix it, if you still like the car. The Aveo is going to lose so much value, it would cost less in the long run to keep the bu. -

If you're not having to add coolant, then it can't be much of a leak. Just watch your coolant level, and your temperature. I've seen pumps go over 200,000 miles, or go after only 10,000. It just depends. If you're not overheating or losing coolant, I wouldn't worry about it. -
How in the h*ll did he get all those cars, or better yet, how does he still have them? Did you see the ragtop Impala's that still had the top intact?! WOW! Totally amazing!!

listening to some dumb moto gp race that the old man is watching from australia with british commentators. Oh joy!!

where the weep hole on a 2.4 chevy 99 malibu?

actually, I just looked and the 2.2 has the pump mounted externally and belt driven, so it would have a weep hole, but still not sure about the internal pumps. -

yes they are both technically quad 4's. so it probably does have a weep hole. -
I suppose that's one of the few cool things about Oklahoma, we don't have the salty sea air, and we never get winter weather to speak of, so no salt on the roads really. We do however get a lot of sunshine. There are still alot of older cars running around, and cool cars too. We just put a new motor in a, I think it was an '86 Toronado, the little one. Cool car, today we had a '66 Impala with 34,000 miles on it, in for new oil pan gasket and a few other leaks. I get to see alot of nice cars, thanks to our weather.

It's behind a housing, behind the exhaust manifold. Calls for 6.3 hours labor, pretty involved!! Don't think theres a weephole on an internal timing chain driven water pump, I suppose maybe a hole in the housing that's covering the pump? Don't know. Get a second opinion, have you had to add coolant? -
That's cool. My catalog always lists the Canadian versions of everything adn I can look up the parts but I've never gotten to see any of them in real life. What a trip.

You guys are so awesome. I know there are people like her everywhere, it pisses me off she's from here. Even though we're in the bible belt, most people I know are cool, but most people I hang with are my generation or younger. I think my generation and younger are more open minded than our parents. Why can't people just see that as sh*tty as this world has become that none of this crap matters anymore. As hard as it is to get by anymore, why can't everybody be allowed to do what they want to find happiness. I don't give a damn what somebody does in the privacy of their own home as long as they are happy, decent citizens. I'm way more worried our suck a*s school system, government and our security. And yes I do think crazy back woods bible thumpers like her do believe it's a "disease", and it's going to "turn" our children gay. So sad...but again, please don't hold it against Oklahoma, we ran to NYC in force after 9/11. There are alot of great people here and it is a beautiful place, with great architecture, music, art, museums, and scenery. Hey we got Cains Ballroom. I was just so apalled at someone making those kinds of statements in public, I thought we had come farther than that. I've never heard something like that here.

Texas and Oklahoma are basically the same I agree, but Texas is coming along much faster than Oklahoma. I'm a conservative Republican but I just have trouble with this I guess. And amazingly enough, Oklahoma is a traditionaly Democratic state. I think it further portrays us Okies as the toothless guy on the news after the tornado takes his trailer, ya know? It frustrates me to no end. Oklahoma and Texas are beautiful places, full of good people, but the national perception of us, I think is we're all that guy on the news, and this idiot woman isn't helping with the perception of our state, and even people who tend to agree with her are not probably as vocal as she is, and don't want the negative publicity on our state, that's all the publicity our little state gets ever.

Nevermind she's from Oklahoma, this could be anywhere, especially in the south, but I'm still blown away. I hope she knows she just destroyed her career. News Story Here's the link to the story about it. Unbelievable
