Choppin' Competition #51 -- Cadillac XTS VOTING
Blake Noble replied to Z-06's topic in Choppin' Competitions
1 3 lol ... -
What? You wouldn't rep that down even though you are now picturing Rosie O'Donnell in a position suggesting she is about to take one up'er arse because of it? Is there something you aren't telling us ... ?
-
For the post above, overlook any typos/editing oversights I might have made. There's a few big ones in there.
-
It would still be an issue ... just the complete opposite of this one, say, if Rose O'Donnell were in that pose on the front of Birkenstock magazine. ... I wholly support this post being repped down.

Very good point on the exhaust system I didn't give a lot of serious thought about. I wonder if the Borla system would yield more HP gains versus the Flowmaster system. The Borla system sounds awesome too; it can actually at idle give the V6 a similar exhaust note to a small V8. It only really sounds like a 6er when you rev it up wayyyy high. I'll have to compare the two ...

Wow. What a stereotype. Time for me to take that pilgrimage to the Creationist Museum up in Petersburg, KY am I right? I already knew about carbon dioxide and its negative effects on the atmosphere. I sat through chemistry and biology classes in high school just like everyone else, passed them both, managed to stay awake. I have no argument to present regarding the effects of CO2 on the atmosphere because to do so would be futile, asinine, and just plain wrong. It's fact. And while I would never argue mild temperature changes can make significant alterations on weather patters, I still have my questions and reservations. Where is the indisputable link that shows man-made pollution is the sole cause of these temperature fluxes? How reliable is the testing that has lead us to our current conclusions on noxious gas emissions now versus the past? How are we so sure we are correct on CO2 levels before the Industrial Revolution and after? I see charts and graphs that show this huge WTF? spike beginning in the 1950s and I raise my eyebrow. There wasn't even testing that could show CO2 content in the atmosphere during the 1950s (and especially before that of course) so how do we know what the actual CO2 emissions were back then? Time for a no-shit-Sherlock moment: Our planet going into another Ice Age wouldn't be good. And I will admit weather patterns from the last few years have been bizarre for brief moments in time. I believe it was around this time in 2007 there was a day in which it was 75 degrees one day, then in the 30s the next. Then again, record high temperatures in winter aren't exactly a new thing to behold. But allow me to sidetrack for a moment: there's nothing we can do stop an Ice Age from happening, should it actually happen 20 years from now or 20 million years from now. There's one looming over the horizon regardless if we speed it up or reverse course and keep it coming as scheduled. This I think we do know. I think that's why this whole thing has grown so out of proportion and that we're not going over things with a very fine-toothed comb. Humans are afraid to die. Humans have grown afraid of change. Those two fears are pretty huge fears and put the two together and you will watch people slowly go into a panic. We have had Ice Ages on this planet before during the time of man and, you know, human beings survived. You know they (as in we) did it? They adapted to the climates. Some sought warmer temperatures to the south, others adapted to the cold frigid north. Has man really grown so comfortable with the way the world has been that he is no longer willing to adapt to survive? If so, then yeah, I guess the human species will become endangered, maybe even extinct. Humans are not an exception to the whole concept of "Survival of the Fittest" regardless if we did discover it. I don't think humans will die out like the dinosaurs did as long as we still can adapt to our world no matter how it changes. With our advancements in technology it wouldn't be so damn hard. It wasn't the comet that killed all of the dinosaurs, it was the fact the remaining surviving dinosaurs didn't know how to adjust to the catastrophe afterward. Say we did get hit by a comet the size of the one that wiped out the dinosaurs humans could survive. Think about it. Do I want another Ice Age or a comet to hit the Earth? No. But I know the human race has just as good of a chance of surviving either one as it does being wiped out by either one. I never said I did either. Past changes in our climate are real. However, I will always take what someone says about the future of our climate beyond what we can safely assume with a grain of salt until I see cold, hard facts. I also think that with the way we are handling this particular study, we are leaving too much room for error. We are acting as if we know everything already when we have only begun to understand what could be going on. The future of our planet really is important and we cannot allow for the smallest mistake.

That post should be repped down to -50 for treating an adult as if they were 5. I mean seriously? There is indisputable proof for everything you linked to. To argue against the idea of a concept of things like gravity and plate tectonics would be like wearing an aluminum foil helmet and yelling the Earth is flat and the sun orbits around us. I don't see things like that as theories, but as facts. I see Global Warming as a theory, one that doesn't hold much water. Facts pertinent to the subject have been horribly skewed. People who have relentlessly backed it have converted into skeptics and critics and unrelenting critics have converted into believers. It's not so much treated as an area for scientific study as it is a religion (which I find frightening). Environmentalists have used it as the cornerstone in which to back fairly radical agendas. It's also a theory based in areas of science which have only begun to come into their own. Meteorology and climatology isn't 100 percent unquestionably accurate. We know where weather systems are probably going to be headed, but we never know exactly what it's going to do. For example, regarding meteorology, the last weather system that moved through my state was predicted to only drop 5 inches of snow in central KY. That prediction wound up being around almost 2 to 3 whole inches off. No, I am not disputing the evidence of past changes in our climate. There is proof of that. But as far as guessing what our climate is going to in the future outside of the known warming and cooling trends is like throwing a dart at a bull's eye on the wall. Could humans be speeding up those natural trends with higher noxious gas emissions since the Industrial Revolution about some 150 years ago? Possibly, but I don't submit to the thinking that the impact in what is a pretty short period of time in the bigger picture could be bringing the Earth to some quick and widespread catastrophe in 20 years. That is, quite honestly, a stupid type of thinking to submit to. It's better left to Doomsday Theorists. It's very annoying. Any rational human being would know better than to step in that particular pile of bullshit. I am not saying environmentalism is bad. I support taking care of our environment and being aware of what possible impact we might have on it outside of the litter you see thrown out on the side of a highway. But it's so hard to know when you have a group of people with an agenda to push and facts to skew. It's an area of self-evaluation. Those are my opinions. Don't like them? Fine. But, please, do not treat me like I'm 5, wearing an aluminum foil pirate hat, and screaming the Earth is flat. Just rep my post down to -50.

http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1580593379.html I have unwillingly driven through Jackson County and I have seen this car in person before. Yes, it has a Z/28 hood. Yes, those are Trans Am fender vents. Yes, it looks like a huge Cheetos cheese puff. I wonder if this car would have looked better on some twenny-fo's. Also from the WTF? files I bring you another waste of a Monte Carlo: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1583700793.html

Epic Thread: Love, Lies & Larceny

I'll eventually own another one of these before the prices skyrocket ... -
Went out on a limb and replaced the ICM. That fixed the problem. Except now a new problem has made itself known: the muffler is rattling like a tin can. Oh well. I was going to put a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust system on it anyway.

The way posts in this thread that suggest Global Warming is a THEORY (which it is; it is not a proven, indisputable scientific fact) are being repped down is absurd and immature. Now go ahead and rep this post down to -50.

lol @ the mention of "automotive ADD" in this thread. I'm the walking definition of it. XD At the moment its looking like the Cutlass's spot will become vacant and quickly as soon as finances become a touch more stable ... -
I blame the 90s for making me the mess of a human being I am today. I have nothing further to add except it was all totally rad, dude. FML.

*aherm* Let me correct that. I meant Festus from Gunsmoke. Had my western shows all confuzzled and all y'know.

Ain't nothing wrong with it, son. But come on. With someone spouting off such exaggerated phrases like "Makes me feel like I'm in a jet cockpit when I'm drivin'!" referring to what appears to be a 3.4L Camaro in the most ridiculous redneck voice I have ever heard this side of an episode of Squidbillies, it has the word "stereotype" written all over it. I could care less this came from North Carolina, too. I've seen dealer-funded adverts from other southern states and if the dealership does interview previous prospects, there isn't a soul that talks like Festes from fucking Bonanza. I live in a state notorious for rednecks, no one talks with such a ridiculous accent like that. That guy was like an extra from Deliverance. I wonder why he didn't mention he likes to make his car squeal like a pig.

None of them. I think the cheapest U.S. made dreadnought acoustic guitar is the Martin DX1. Musician's Buy is selling them for $499. They do have a decent tone, but I'm not fond of a guitar with pressed laminate sides and back. The top is solid spruce, though, but still. By any other brand, this guitar would substantially less.
