  1. I do not fear that I shall contract malaria or smallpox.
  2. That's exactly why I want it. Depending on what the motor needs, I could stand to make a profit on this car, should I choose to sell it.
  3. Should come in handy this year come Christmastime. I've been meaning to dress up as Anorexic Santa for the children.
  4. I'm seriously considering scraping up some cash to make an $800 dollar offer for this: http://lexington.craigslist.org/pts/1599491124.html
  5. As with SA, I would as well. I've been with my friend in his '99 Silverado Z71 with three very bald tires (we're talking 15 percent trend left here), a strong pull to the right, and 313,000 miles on the odometer intentionally fishtailing and doing donuts in quite a few very snow-covered parking lots. Yes, there were cars and light poles in most of them. No, 4-wheel drive wasn't used, it was 2-wheel drive all the way. If someone can keep control of a vehicle like that in the snow and not have an accident what does that say?
  6. Getting out of a tailslide isn't all that hard either; just take your foot out of the throttle a bit while keeping the gas steady and steer correctly and accordingly. It's not a hard concept to work around. And if you can't remember to back out of the gas a bit and steer in surprise fishtail situations, then you are a very poor, unaware driver. Now, I haven't driven the Camaro on one and a half feet of snow simply because we do not get snowfall totals like that here. However, my light-in-the-back rear-drive car will hold its own just fine on four to five inches of snow and won't so much as blink at two. It's simply boils down to knowing how to actually drive and not trusting your car to do all of the work. In my case, having a manual gearbox is an additional bonus.
  7. Definitely buy a cheap SBC MSD ignition kit, intake manifold, and carb and get to town on ripping that ECM out of there then. Your plow truck would be so much easier to patch up afterward.
  8. I'd remove the electronic junk off of this truck personally. It would make it so much easier to patch up. Find a carb'd SB350/TH400 combo and drop it in.
  9. I was thinking '91 for some reason. Honestly, there isn't much that doesn't become obsolete overnight. I can't think of one consumer product, cars or whatever, that's an exception to the rule. It's a little bit ridiculous.
  10. 1980s engine electronics are a headache. Your truck is either an '88 or '89, too. That's something else I wasn't sure of.
  11. Is your transmission a 4L60 or 4L60-E? If it was a 4L60, I actually want to say the '84 model transmission I linked to should work, regardless of EFI. I'm not 100 percent sure, though. Obviously, the 4L60 wouldn't work in a truck with a 4L60-E. Perhaps this chart would help? http://www.gmautomatictransmissions.com/transmission_applications.php EDIT: Well, the ECM is a factor I didn't really consider, so now I'm really unsure.
  12. I probed CG a bit for you. '84 model 700R4 with transfer case for $350: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/1591348842.html This probably isn't what you're looking for, but nevertheless: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/1597852934.html Another one out of an F-Body: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/1588330249.html Another one (sadly) out of a SyTy truck: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/1589345358.html And another: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/1594783760.html
  13. While my F-Body isn't a V8 F-Body, I think it's excellent on snow. It's also a hell of a lot of fun in an empty, snow-covered parking lot.
  14. I don't know what to say about the DIY drilled disc brakes on the second car. Some people shouldn't own a table clamp and power tools.
  15. Nice Colonnade Coupe.
  16. Do you like Saabs, reg? http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1589010659.html '04 Saab 9-3 Linear with 49,000 miles for $8900. Not too bad.
  17. This thread is like a Carlos Mencia stand-up special. :/
  18. Is it bad that I consider it an improvement that the Denny's in my town was shut down and turned into a Mexican restaurant? FTR: Cracker Barrel has the best breakfast.
  19. Oh Jim, how I just loved the way you just danced around the question about the 2004 Atlantic City Camry incident. Who says white men can't dance. You certainly have some moves there Jimmy boy. This guy has the same panache has your high school principal; he's boring, dull, you hate him, all of the nerdy kids love him, and he's willing to talk down to you just so he can get off to the rush of the power trip.
  20. +1 Seriously though, good to hear you had a good day.
  21. What really throws your eye for a loop is how the snow froze in that bizarre wind-swept shape around the a-pillar and the driver's side sideview mirror. It makes the hood look longer somehow. Couple that with all of the snow that piled up on the decklid and back glass and it really has the cartoon-ish proportions of the old Cheetah I posted.
  22. The shape reminds me of this for some reason, only bigger:
  23. Interesting. I always thought the headlamps were intended to evoke Chevrolet bow-tie logos, especially on the '98 concept that GM shown where the lines were a touch sharper in places than on the final production car.
  24. I really feel like a total ass now. :/
  25. Screw it. I'll just post the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8rZWw9HE7o
