The Heartbeat of Australia, Is Today's Chevrolet
Blake Noble replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Chevrolet
I hated that jingle, Mr. Oracle of Pontiac. Thanks for reminding me of it. -
You rang, good sir? Excellent handling? Check. Excellent balance? Check. Two seats? Check. Small stature? Check. Good fuel economy? Check. Sporty? Of course. Hatchback? Yup. (I think. Or did the concept coupe only have the glass liftback?) Yep. And it has the Ecotec Turbo, too, as well as a targa top. Where do you want to sign?

I think BV has the same problem I have with buying guitars. Good to see you're enjoying the car.

I went to Somernite's Cruise today and found a '90s Roadmaster lurking among a group of 4-4-2s, Chevelles, and Trans Ams. So that seems that's the way it's heading. 66: I also found a '70 Vista Cruiser wagon in primer black, and for sale as well I think.

Your Tahoe has the exact same issue my dad's old '99 Dakota had: no heat. He changed all of the freeze-out plugs in that truck (5 of them had small holes tapped into them), flushed the heater core (a massive wad of black crap came out), and then had someone take the dash completely apart to find out something (I can't remember what it was for the life of me now) was simply unhooked/had worked its way loose.

You mean this? ... If it was, I think they might have, uh, released an edited version.

I found a girlfriend for Black Knight!
Blake Noble replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
probably would treat me better than this bitch i've been talking to/forever alone.jpg -
The original CR-X? Even I'm ultimately okay with that car, if that tells you anything. Just give it a good paint job eventually. Every CR-X I've seen lately had such terrible paint. Oh, and a decent set of rims are a must too. Something that doesn't scream, "I'm something-something-fast and something-something-furious."

So who are some of your real life heroes?
Blake Noble replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
I don't consider any of these people "heroes", but they have provided a lot of inspiration. I'll put them into groups: Music Brian Eno Adrian Belew David Gilmour Trent Reznor Robert Fripp Leo Fender Robert Moog Art/Design: David Carson Francis Bacon Frank Lloyd Wright Bill Mitchell Larry Shinoda Wayne Cherry Richard A. Teague If it weren't for automotive design, specifically the designs made under the tenure of the three GM designers mentioned, I would have never been an enthusiast. When it comes to the field of writing/journalism, it's hard to name specific examples. I will give very honorable mentions to George Orwell and John Phillips. -
*bear smoking out of a bong* What the fuck am I watching?

bu-bu-but it's not me Thanks, Olds.

Trust me, I'm hoping GM cuts all of the fat out of the F6 Camaro (and does the same for the rest of the corporate family). However, I didn't agree with how smk's post seemed to imply that because all GM cars are fat, they stop, go, and turn like an old Mack truck. Agreed. Nailed it exactly.

While I mostly agree with you on this, overweight GM products stop and handle just as well as what you can buy from any other mainstream automaker. Yeah, well that doesn't mean GM should be mimicking Toyota and start building cars with baboon-nose grilles, unsightly stretch marks, flabby mid-sections, and fat-assed rear ends. Toyota sells, bar none, the worst designed cars on the road. There is more soul, logic, effort, and thought in the design of the Yugo 24 than anything Toyota's building right now. GM is outselling Toyota BTW. Toyota sold 147,000 cars last month versus GM's 172,000. Just thought you might would like a reminder. As Hyundai's quality perceptions continue to improve, I think they might just trim their warranty back a bit to reduce costs.

Thanks guys! I don't know how my darker half somehow managed to age one year ahead of me, but perhaps he'll buy me a beer.

Survey Shows Common Misconceptions about the Economy
Blake Noble replied to CSpec's topic in The Lounge
Uh, no. Any news regarding the economy improving would be as easy to swallow as an ice cold Dr. Pepper. What you posted is a few paragraph's worth of lies, damn lies, and statistics. I think FOG's situation is one bit of proof that whoever you quoted was too busy to be bothered with studying anything they were talking about in depth, i.e. getting out there and seeing just how bad it is. -
The Devil Attempts to Mow-Down His Landlord With a Ford Windstar Friday 15th October, 2010 by "black-knight" They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Yeah. In this case, it makes what I'm about to write damn near worthless. Basically the story goes like this: The man you see in the photo above, who may or may not actually be the Devil himself sans the red-scaly skin and bifurcated tail, is Jesse Thornhill (quite ironically, he even has the word "horn" in his last name) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had some sort of spat with his landlord which resulted in him storming off of the property which he was renting ... only to return shortly in his '96 Ford Windstar. He then proceeded to try and run over his landlord with his cheeky Blue Oval mommymobile. Luckily, the landlord manged to move out of the way quickly enough, and Mr. Thornhill was soon arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Thornhill's mother told police that she and her neighbor, who turns out to be the aforementioned landlord, had been having problems with her son. Hmmmmmmmm ... To be honest, I always thought the Devil drove a Coupe de Ville. I guess this changes everything. Original article here: Tulsa Man Arrested For Trying To Run Over His Landlord

Survey Shows Common Misconceptions about the Economy
Blake Noble replied to CSpec's topic in The Lounge
No, I'm sure he was as sober as a priest on Sunday. I don't think there's a drug out there powerful enough to make you a total dipshiit. Maybe a complete retard, but not a total dipshit. I really don't think you can place all if the blame solely on one party. Democrat, Republican ... it's a choice between two evils and it's hard to say which evil is the lesser one because it's a personal opinion that's mostly unreliable. No, I think all of the BS stems from the fact our government is never balanced. The scales always tip in the favor of one party way too much in between elections and, because basically one group of people are running the show, nothing much gets accomplished. Can't argue about politicians being greedy, though. Well that's okay because I ain't much of a praying man. -
Regarding styling, the Upfront in the latest issue of Car & Driver has a feature where some New York art and design guru or somethinganother grades the styling of all of the major automakers. GM got an A-. Here's what some of the other guys got: Ford got a B. Chrysler got a B. Kia got an A-. Hyundai got a B-. Toyota (rightfully) got a D+. Honda got a C-.

1.) I had Cingular before I had Cell One before I had Verizon and before I had AT&T. I do remember what AT&T's network was like pre-iPhone and, yep, it sucked like a Florida coke whore. When I had Cingular, I of course had a RAZR, so it wasn't like I had some cheap-o phone that couldn't use the network to its fullest. The iPhone has been the best thing to happen to AT&T mainly because, if it wasn't exclusive to them, this network would be stuck in the stone age. 2.) The iPhone should also be coming to T-Mobile sometime soon. 3.) It isn't illegal to jailbreak an iPhone and carriers can't deny service to you if you do jailbreak one. Federal law made that happen. Apple may have to just drop that war.

I have the 3GS and I'm running the latest version of iOS4 without any issues. I take it you have a 3G? Yeah, blame Apple's Speed of Sound Plan for Planned Obsolesce as to why it won't run anything like it should. I'm a little afraid about what's going happen to my iPhone later on down the road. Hopefully the iPhone 5 won't suck as hard as the 4 currently does. I have to agree with you 100 percent regarding Verizon's coverage and customer service. I had Verizon until I bought my iPhone. I cross-shopped the iPhone and Droid phones as well -- and my apologies to the card-carrying members of the Droid Club here -- I currently just don't see the advantage a Droid phone has over an iPhone. They're more or less the same phone. (My iPhone will load .gif images if you were going to say something regarding that.) The Droid software might be far more accessible to someone wanting to develop a third-party app, but I don't plan on developing apps so it doesn't offer me anything my iPhone doesn't. That's just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.
