  1. Future Chevrolets will be designed for markets outside of North America in mind and they will still offer plenty to be excited about. :AH-HA_wink: And as for the Camry being built to be acceptable in a market outside of North America, well, I am sure that you are aware of a certain brand of negativity attached to the Camry among the European auto press and European buyers. I have an issue of Car from November 2003 that claims the Camry is, "Totally unsuited to Europe" in the buyers guide at the back of the issue. Of course, that was a different generation of Camry, but I do not think the sentiment would change much, really, with the newer generation model.

  3. Well, I am afraid the worst has now happened: His interest in the car cannot be revived. He said that he would rather just keep saving his money and find something in a little better shape for a little bit more. I thought that he was making a mistake, but I found something this morning that is actually making me reconsider my opinion. Scroll down. :AH-HA_wink: Oh, no offense taken. And thanks for answering that question for me. I am actually thinking that dad not buying the car was a good thing now. I found this car not too far away from us that only needs a new hood and the carpet cleaned. According to the description, it only has one spot of rust. It's a '73 Monte and it has better levels of equipment for just a few hundred more than the asking price of the Monte here in town. Take a look: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-monte-...tem110238799029 You are welcome. I am glad to hear you are feeling better!

  6. Ah, I am not a Ciera type of guy. I've never really liked them. But if that is what you want, go for it.

  8. Well, since it seems that you are not against front-drivers for a daily driver, why not check into a last-generation Toronado like Veezel mentioned? I know if I had to get a front-drive car to putter around in on a frequent basis, that period of Toro would be my at the top of my list.
  9. Wow. Talk about stepping on one's toes.
  10. Well, in not so many words, exactly. It is my fault for not clarifying earlier. I started to, but didn't. But all evidence shows that those days are more than likely gone from Toyota. No MR2, no Celica, no Supra; the three products that managed to give the company something an enthusiast could actually seem to aspire to own are long gone.
  11. I am afraid not. A Mopar product is out in our driveway right now and it has proven to be reliable. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. I did not mean motorsports. Focus on what is totally relevant to the consumer, in today's marketplace. What redeeming quality does a Toyota posses over the competition? Your answer is, "Absolutely nothing."
  13. I had two different aunts own examples of this car. One aunt had two Daytonas, the other aunt had the Chrysler flavor of this car, the LeBaron. All of those cars were horribly unreliable. They usually suffered from mostly engine trouble or electrical gremlins.

  15. The reason I dislike Toyota? It is not because they are Japanese, and it is not because I believe them to be some impenetrable fortress that cannot be brought down. Quite frankly, I see them to be a wholly dishonest company with policies that lack morale, a company that can only build cold, soulless abominations that roll on four Good Year tires. I despise what they do and what they make. There is no passion or even honesty in a Toyota product.

  18. Ahh, ahh! Not so fast. I have been trying to keep a loose tab on the G8s at the local Pontiac dealer, and I noticed that they had received a red V6 model today (the car I spoke of earlier with the markup was a black V8 with leather). I saw that it didn't have an "adjusted" tag. It was priced at $28 large, which is normal for a V6 with a few options. So it seems that dealers are marking up the lower volume models and leaving the higher volume ones alone, at least in the case that I had seen today. Not exactly a repeat of our first "Holtiac."

  20. A word of warning: you will need good luck on finding a decent S-Series truck for under $5000, especially the late model ones. I know the asking price of my '98 Sonoma, which had horrible brakes and was missing two mirrors at the time of purchase, was $4995 before we convinced them to knock the price down to $2700 plus tax and license. The '94 Blazer I found earlier probably wasn't in the best of shape, given it's low asking price. You know, you could take your money and go to an auction and see if there is anything worth your time.

  23. Oh, hell. I will do it for you PCS and save you the energy of typing.
  24. Happy Birthday to you, Mr. Blu!
  25. I would forget about either of your two cars when you are better off financially. The Millenia and the Cutlass both are not worth the investment, despite any sentimental value there. Forget the beater idea and get a loan for a decent car and sell the Millenia and the Cutlass to recoup the losses. That's what I say.
