  1. What British car industry? It's all been virtually bought by and assimilated into other non-British automakers. Vauxhall are under the total control of the friendly folks at Opel und GME, Jaguar and Land Rover are property of Tata and then Ford before that, Lotus are owned by the Malaysians, Jensen is pretty much dead, Triumph is dead, Austin is a memory and the only notable car to come from that automaker, the Mini, is now under control of BMW, TVR is owned by a Russian kid with too much money ... it goes on and on. The U.K. has a few plants and that hardly makes up a thriving automotive industry in my opinion. It's just what's left over, for the most part.
  2. Local lots in my area seem to have an abundance of trucks and SUVs, both large and small, sitting on their lots. The days of the truck and SUV as main family transportation are coming to an end.
  3. I'm sick of popcorn, I've been chowing down on it for the past few months. Could I substitute that for chips and salsa or some nachos? :AH-HA_wink:
  4. Shares are $9.38 hmmm? Sounds like I was smart in holding off a little while longer on buying my stock then. The time to make my investment draws near ... :AH-HA_wink:
  5. I sold my previous truck, my S10, for five-hundred dollars to a guy who intended to use the engine and transmission in another, slightly older S10. However, I believe I might have spotted it a few weeks ago, front clip and other problems repaired, when I headed out to a parts store to buy a 5 quart jug of high-mileage Pennzoil to put in the Sonoma (it had the exact same brand of bedliner as my old truck had, and the dash was cracked in the exact same place). Whatever the case might be, I know it still somehow lives on outside of what parts I salvaged from it to use in the Sonoma (cracked/broken interior pieces mainly). Somehow reading all of that doesn't surprise me.

  9. This smells like an OPEC situation to me. Indeed it is interesting to ponder.
  10. Any name is better than Cavalier, to be perfectly honest.
  11. Indeed, we can only hope GM will hear us out. But when sound thoughts are being offered, why instantly reject them? You need every tool you can get when you first approach a problem. Instantly disregarding one of them could mean you just wind up with something just as broke as when you started, if I make any sense here.
  12. Hmm ... I feel that I wish to clear my personal record here: I only support what concepts the Holden Commodore can bring to Pontiac as a G8. It's rear-drive, it's performance oriented, and the car is mainly driver focused. Styling is subjective; while I do wish that it had more Pontiac DNA, it has the correct proportions and stance for a Pontiac and isn't offensive to the eyes. While I do prefer a coupe, it is wrapped in a more versatile sedan wrapper. While it's not 100 percent what I look for in a Pontiac, it is what I look for mostly (it would be 100 percent if the base model had a stick) in a sedan, and that's what makes it work for me. GM doesn't need to abandon the G8 as its range-topping model, it should build on it. Take the basics of what makes it wholesome as a driver's car and a performance car, then strip out the excess fat, add a stick, and give it a true Pontiac flavor. That is a Pontiac sedan from Utopia in my opinion.
  13. When I read that article, I'll be frank with you, while the fact of any possible government cover-up does bother me, the fact that the cover-up dealt with another report of Global Warming propaganda did not bother me in the least bit. While it is my opinion that we should take steps to protect and better our environment, it should not be done with such scare tactics like the Theory of Global Warming and neo-communist legislation. No disrespect meant to your opinion, mind you, that's just how I feel. I'm not totally buying into something that is not 100 percent scientifically proven but is treated as such by many an ignorant suit in politics. Like a great mind once said, "Think for yourself, question authority." Are you sure that those forest fires weren't started by a 13 year-old on a camping trip with mom's grill lighter and some old dried leaves?
  14. PCS is the messenger right? Well, who better than to leave a calling card of sorts with? The underlying message here is for GM to try and make all approaches work and not to abandon a single one of them over the other. That is what can potentially help to ensure GM will weather the market conditions it will face whenever they may come. Camino raises a bit of advice that should be considered, especially if GM is supposed to be considering all approaches to solving the problem (which, I might wish to add, does not have one simple solution).
  15. As long as I get mine, I'll delay my purchase of the Anarchist's Cookbook without question.
  16. So I got bored and tried again just now and now it says all connections are in use and then it disconnects me.
  17. Poor guy, all the heat from those forest fires must be getting to you.
  18. Agreed. If I could, I would have one right now, in black just like the one I posted.

  22. Shame on you all for not posting the most iconic mid-sized Chevrolet ever produced.
  23. I don't think GM did that, but I'm not sure. I do remember magazine ads used to say "Opel by Buick," I believe.
