  2. +1 *Waits for some uneducated individual to post their "nova means 'no go' in Spanish" rebuttal.*
  3. I submit the following idea for your consideration: would placing the Pontiac brand on a "Camaro-esque period of hiatus" be a viable alternative to simply killing the brand? I believe this period of downtime could allow for GM to fully assess how to make wholly unique, mpg-appropriate performance cars for the brand instead of simply rebadging Chevrolet Aveos and Cobalts and sweeping cars like the G8 and Solstice under the rug. I have other ideas for the brand. I may just post them later.
  4. More daydreaming: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/848764539.html http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/862965777.html http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/839401290.html http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/861434279.html http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/849264664.html The last two are in slightly better shape than my Cutlass for around the same price that I gave for it. Maybe I should buy another one.
  5. More than likely, this is a production version of the Flextreme coming.
  6. While looking for another car to daydream about, I came across this in Ohio: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/857175496.html I wonder if a particularly hairy man will be knocking on that guy's doorstep soon?
  7. I'd say the owners were trying to make this into a 1970 SS clone. Still haven't seen more photos yet, either. Hmmm ...
  8. The Cutlass is a hybrid: it burns both gas and rubber.
  9. Yeah, I've read the plaque wrong. Instead of reading "53 53" which would denote Saturn Gold Metallic without a vinyl top, it reads "57 57" which actually denotes Baroque Gold Metallic without a vinyl top. (Hey, the numbers are sort of worn off and I was trying to first read them at 11 pm at night, so ...) However the gold color that is on the inner fenders where the black top coat of paint is chipping away and beneath the a-pillar interior trim appears to be much more closer to Saturn Gold than Baroque Gold. Perhaps Baroque Gold looks lighter in person than it does in the color chip?
  10. Lincoln Logo: Classic Olds Logo: 2009 Lincoln MKS front end: 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass front end: Also, interestingly ... 2003 Mercury Messenger concept: 1994 Oldsmobile Aurora:
  11. Let me show y'all what a real Cutlass looks like. EDIT: Forgot the interior photos.
  12. So, here's the e-mail I just received. I'm still waiting for some more photos: I have something I could sell to at least get something of a down payment/deposit on a loan. Anyone think that $4500 would be too low of an offer for this car (not that I am dead serious on buying it right now)?
  13. Soon the Cutlass shall be put to this test ...
  14. I was wondering if anyone would get my something of an elaborate pun.
  15. I'm thinking more Acadia on those taillights ...

  17. Woo-hoo! More front-wheel drive junk for Cadillac! I can hardly keep my excitement contained. Is it possible to get a Cadillac Delta II on the showroom floor too since, you know, the 1980s Cimmalier was such a good idea? Yet another reason for me to care more about the GM of Yesteryear and less about the GM of Today.
  18. Cort, I should mention to you that I drove by the lot in Richmond today to see if that Monte Carlo was still there. I didn't see it anywhere around, but I think they might have temporarily relocated it as the lot seemed to have just repaved their blacktop. I'll keep you posted.
  19. Oh, I'm sure PITA will have something to say about it ...
  20. One thing I would like to see from GM: more innovation. I didn't know this until I began doing some research for my Cutlass, but apparently, GM had an AutoStick-type transmission before Chrysler Corp. started building them. It was called a "his-and-her dual gate shifter" and it was optional in at least the 1972 A-Body Cutlass, if not all of the other A-Body cars, I am positive of that. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2..._serialNumber=2 Why did features like this vanish in the late 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s? It wasn't until the half-assed system the last-generation Malibu had (thumb rocker switch on the shifter) that they were starting to build cars with such features again, and after Chrysler had prided itself on "pioneering" this technology with AutoStick in the 1990s. GM was clearly ahead of the curve here and should have stuck with making this technology, and technology like this, at least optional in most of, if not all of, it's models.
  21. For fun, I e-mailed the owner for more photos, just to see what it looks like a little better.
  22. Just some daydreaming born out of some Sonoma-related frustrations. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/860186545.html This car is also located about 20 miles south of where the Cutlass originated from (Jellico, Tennessee), and somewhere around the town from where the Cutlass was originally purchased (LaFollette, Tennessee). I wonder what other gems I can find in Tennessee?
  23. Restaurant that suceeds: Raising Caine's. Restaurant that fails: Shoney's.
  24. I think more than just the front-end design has been changed for the Terrain ...
  25. That's the way I really feel about the whole company.
