Official: Saturn is Dead, Pontiac is a Ghost Is that the sound of GM executives putting on their flame-retardant jumpsuits? Link to original Article @ Jalopnik smallchevy: Here is the full WSJ Article

"Homewrecker" - Converge "Jane Doe" is such an interesting concept album and an impressive album overall.

Well, GME seems to have the right idea: give more autonomy to the brands. That's the way it used to be for GMNA back in its golden era; each brand working under it's own MO with GM acting like a central hub that took in and received profit from each brand that offered it's own individual set of strengths.

Okay, the band is Slint and they used a Saab 900 for the cover of their album "Tweez."

Chicago 2009: Dodge Ram 3500HD
Blake Noble replied to Intrepidation's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
That looks absolutely massive. MO accomplished, Dodge. -
Bet you didn't know you could do this on C&G.

It looks cluttered when there are forums on the main page that lesser members can't get to. If I can't get to it, why should I have to see it and care about it? I would make them only visible to premium members and leave it at that, just as I know there are forums that only admins and mods can access here (as with any other forum). And, for the record, GM Inside News allows all members permission to post YouTube videos and access to a "random" type board. This place really needs some fresh blood, more new regulars coming on the boards. I believe it will just turn away potential members because they'll say, "Why should I have to pay for these features here, when I can just go to this board and do it for free and participate in similar discussions?" I know these forums need funds for the new servers, but the price that you pay for what you get just is not worth it really. And I'll just get this out in the open: I've grown a bit aggravated with this forum board. I'll explain why. For a period of time I tried to moderate the design forums and it was said that I would be given the features necessary to continue do so. And for a while, I was the only member putting up the voting threads and tallying up the votes and getting things cleaned up and cleared out. I even contributed the idea of having open-ended design competitions. And behold, we have them now. Then, when things got a little busy for me personally, and when NOS shows back up, I get disregarded without any appreciation for my efforts shown. I'm not wanting any compensation, and sorry if it seems petty to complain, but I got the shaft here and I'm not going to keep my mouth shut about it any more. (This wasn't directed at you Dodgefan, I know you didn't have anything to do with it.) -

Yeah, you know what, since I'm not part of this elite club, I'd rather not see the politics and "rated-R" forum. Make those hidden to non-premium members. It makes the main forum page look a little like $h!, to be honest. -
I see you're going down the same road I went down after I totaled my S-10 by looking for pretty much the exact same vehicle with the flaws that you found in the vehicle you wrecked smoothed out and corrected. I don't know about you, BV, but I want to say, from my own experience with dealing with the aftermath of totaling a vehicle, seriously think over exactly what car you want to replace your Jetta with. If another Jetta is what you seriously think you want, then buy it. All I know is that I wish I had thought my purchase out a little more thoroughly. If I knew then what I know now, I can certainly say I would not have purchased my Sonoma, even though it was, at that time, exactly what I wanted.

Well, I ran "FK OFF" through the State DMV website a few months back and it said that it was available. :AH-HA_wink:
-
I want "FK OFF" for a license plate. :AH-HA_wink: On what car, I'm not sure. I'm thinking it might be on whatever replaces my Sonoma (Trans Am 403?).
-
Ah, I've decided not to buy the Wildcat and try to find a 1977 - 1981 Trans Am (or another Cutlass) instead.

I'll let your ignorance, ya know, speak for you. Could someone please tell me when California has always held unwavering support for Detroit Inc.? Because the last time I checked ... When did ignorance become a point of view?

Study Finds High-Fructose Corn Syrup Contains Mercury
Blake Noble replied to Croc's topic in The Lounge
Personally, I would much rather the use of HFCS be abolished in food. It's been linked to obesity for starters. And has anyone here tried a Coke or Pepsi from Mexico, which still has pure cane sugar? It tastes much better in my opinion. -
Well, Kentucky currently doesn't have completely asinine taxes on tobacco, for starters. After all, tobacco used to be this state's main cash crop once upon a time. Also, that price is for a pack of Camels from Walgreens, a national chain. Of course, since they buy their product in mass quantities, it's cheaper versus say the local hometown tobacco shop. This PDF file will pretty much explain the reason why people in New York pay more for a deck of smokes versus people in Kentucky: http://www.healthyarkansas.com/healthcare_...%20rankings.pdf
-
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. To be honest, though, the difference between the two is sort of like the difference between an orange and a lime in my opinion. Ah, sorry to hear about that, Croc. But, yes, these do smoke for quite sometime. For me, it takes up to a good 13 to 14 minutes to smoke one. I don't really mind it, however. In fact I've noticed that when I do have a pack of these, I tend to go through them just a little bit slower than I do a pack of Camels, oddly enough. Agreed.
-
Welcome to my mentality. :AH-HA_wink:
-
Yeah, they are pretty different, but that's why I like them and buy them if I have the extra cash. They also burn extremely slow; even if you try to hotbox one, it still takes a good 10 minutes to smoke it. I guess I'm weird then because I really liked my first cup of coffee and my first cigarette. $4.39 is pretty expensive for a pack of Marlboros. I know I wouldn't pay it. In my area, I've found that Walgreens and Speedway have the cheapest cigarettes as far as major brands like Camel and Marlboro go, with a pack of either brand in any flavor/style costing under three bucks. Food for thought: my friend once said these smelled like pumpkin pie. If they smell like that even when they're still burning, well ...
-
Nice head unit. I'm actually considering an Alpine to put in the Cutlass and whatever replaces the Sonoma.
-
Try a pack of these then. That's what I'm smoking right now. These are just about the smoothest and best-tasting cigarette I've ever smoked. They don't smell that bad either. (It's because the tobacco is mixed in with cloves and a "flavoring sauce" made from fruit extracts.) The only downside is that my pack cost me $5.08, including tax, here in Kentucky. That's pretty expensive considering my regular Camel Turkish Royals only cost $2.77 before tax.
-
I'm a counter to the rhetoric here. Although I do understand the consequences that my habit has on my health (which is why I do strictly limit myself to four cigarettes a day), I smoke cigarettes and rather enjoy it. I've thought about quitting a few times here in recent months since I first started, but like Croc, I've found the way nicotine boosts my overall mood (I've been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder before I quit therapy late last month and smoking actually does help me through mood swings) and alertness, especially in the morning, is very beneficial.

(I hope that last one didn't offend anyone, but it was too good to not throw in.)

I have a whole new appreciation for Mopar
Blake Noble replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
At least they're doing in such a way that no one is complaining.
