Holden should just break free from GM and take the Zeta platform and the Pontiac brand along with it as an outlet to sell their wares in the New World. EDIT: Wait, wait. Since I know a reality check is probably headed my way, I'll go ahead and say it now: certain people won't allow it to happen and blah, blah, frickin' blah.

Here's a random thought I want to just throw out here: how about a group of C&G members who own GM stock band together, combine their stock under one entity, continue to purchase a little more stock each month (since it's cheaper than a Florida coke whore), and eventually gain a chair on the GM Board?

Thank ya Z. As for repairing the rust on the decklid, while I didn't actually do the repair (the guys who painted it fixed it), I do know it was minimal surface rust. I'm one step ahead of you there. You'd be surprised how many people have Olds rally wheels just lying around down here. I bought two from my friend who owns a '71 Supreme with a factory 455 big block and I picked up another two from a guy who was installing a 302 in my friend's '66 Mustang hardtop. I already had one in the trunk of the car when I bought it as well. The alignment on the rear decklid (as well as the hood) isn't spot-on. In fact, it's wayyyy off. It's something I'm going to have to go back and fix soon.

Just so you know that the Cutlass is most definitely not forgotten: PontiACTION meets OldsMOBILITY. :AH-HA_wink: (Only done correctly this time.)

Ah! So that's where they got the grille from! The Lancer! -

Having the engine power the wheels as the Lord intended isn't going to forgive it's list of sins five-million miles long. -
Today I learned someone has some 'splainin to do! :AH-HA_wink:

Time to be crass: f@#k this car and everyone who buys it. This is a piece of rolling garbage, a heap best left to the scrap pile. The front fascia is gaudy and overwrought and there isn't a single unique line or original styling cue anywhere on the car. The interior is a Lexus rip-off, a bold-faced wannabe. In twenty or thirty years, there isn't going to be a soul in the world that is going to give a damn about this particular South Korean car and the only people who are going to buy it are just going to kick their own ass every morning when they wake up to drive it to the office by repetitively asking themselves, "Now why didn't I buy a BMW again? The sticker price was the same ..." Their neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers are all going to roll in laughter at them behind their back. I'd even go so far as to hedge a bet that someday in the future, the owner will probably commit suicide due to the external and internal torment. To sum it all up, this is going to be one big mistake with a $50k plus price tag. -
Today I learned that a post is worthless without pics.

I have a feeling that, someday soon, this particular Craigslist user is going to be walking into a pawn shop, fingers crossed that he might get enough money for a down payment for one of those.

A coupe? That's nice. Now is it okay for me to nod off to sleep?

Don't underestimate a Formula, a Trans Am, or a Firehawk. :AH-HA_wink:

Nope. I know a wolf in sheep's clothing when I see one.

I'm sure that what the feds considered bright back in 1998 is acceptable now. And if not, what stopped SLP from modifying the lights to be a bit dimmer? Plus, they could still sell them as aftermarket, even if they are still too bright. The feds don't really keep that close of an eye on aftermarket parts.

Here's a more serious thought: http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1115325379.html An old Crown Vic Interceptor is pretty cheap, has a decent V8, and will run forever. It's not a coupe, but it's good, reliable transportation that, with a little work, could be made into a decent looking car. Another thought: http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1113694234.html A Cavalier Z24 isn't the most desirable car in the world, but it'll do for a first set of wheels for the amount of money you have to spend.

With that much dinero in hand, expect something like this: http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1115301440.html Or how about a rare Harlequin Edition F-150? http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1115297568.html This Ford Bronco definitely bucks: http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1115293668.html And this is one classy, ziggin' Caddy: http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1115284905.html Perhaps you wanna buy yourself a Mercury and cruise up and down the road? http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1115279705.html Do you wanna be a man and drive a five-speed? http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1115024498.html Maybe you want to play cowboy and drive a pickup truck? http://louisville.craigslist.org/ctd/1114996496.html I don't suppose you spend a lot of time around parks and playgrounds, do ya? http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1114899432.html Hey, I found some bling-bling for a small budget: http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1114869793.html Best watch out for this 'un. I'm really surprised that SLP doesn't make a kit that recreates that look. I'm sure if they did, plenty of F4 Firebird owners would be snapping them up, myself included.
-
The nostrils are somewhat functional, they aren't completely blocked off by the hood. Some cold air can get to the engine from them. Leave it up to me to be the one to take a different route from the rest of the crowd. And the Cutlass is not forgotten. I still have some work to do to it, although it is pretty much completely finished. I still have to put the front bumper on (and replace the back bumper whenever the money comes in), install the headliner, and do some detailing here and there.
-
I think it looks better than the stock Firebird/Formula/Trans Am. The fixed headlights not only improve the look of the front, but they're more reliable too and made the car lighter by up to 100-150 lbs. There are kits that reproduce that look. However, the conversion is expensive. I found a kit on eBay not too long ago that cost well over a grand.

Subaru Unveils Refreshed 2010 Legacy
Blake Noble replied to Intrepidation's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I'm not a fan. It's an incoherent, uninspiring design. -
I could be. :AH-HA_wink: I guess I should get the nickname "Birdman" or "Birdkeeper" tattooed on my arm somewhere.
-
A F4 Formula is going to be my next car purchase. :AH-HA_wink: That is, if I don't find a tidy '77 T/A. I thought about a set of O-Zs or Enkei, but I knew the Snowflakes were the only rims that would look right at home on my Firebird. Thank ya again. I wonder if Year One also sells the big bad bird hood graphic they slap on the hood of the Bandit T/A too ... ?
-
Thanks Dodgefan, dfelt. I've taken such a great liking to Year One's Repro Snowflakes, I think I will definitely save up for a set after I get a few cheap, bolt on mods out of the way:

So well put. This post sums up my feelings about GM precisely.
