  1. I'm trying to wire my stereo in the Monte and I have no idea where the 12V constant lead from the harness goes to. The harness looks like this and the wire is the yellow one you'll see to the right of your screen. I think it plugs into the fusebox but I don't have any idea where. So far, no one at Monte Carlo SS.com has replied.

  3. Hey, how about reorganizing the forums to separate Saturn and Saab from the other current GM brands (i.e. "Old GM Brands") and placing Pontiac and Olds in their own specific section (i.e. "Memory Lane")? I think it's something we should consider.
  4. There should be inspections and strict specific requirements mandated in order for a car to qualify for CFC. It should rank poor on a visual inspection and fail a mechanical inspection done by a reputable service tech. The total amount of the repair costs should exceed a percentage of its KBB value. Only then would this program work and work effectively and correctly, but our politicians are too stupid to do what really needs to be done.
  5. Best one: http://itemnotasdescribed.com/2009/07/23/f...tary-court-999/ You just can't top it.
  6. It seems I found a loophole. I wonder, though, does the government record the VIN number and put that specific VIN on something like a "blacklist," preventing the car to be registered? You know, I might even do that myself with some of the money obtained from the Firebird, if I find the right car to save. Just offer the dealer what the scrapyard would give them for the body, maybe an extra bit of change to boot just so that they can't refuse it.
  7. Z, I had the exact same question when I found the car and did a little research into it. Apparently the '83 and '84 models had woodgrain and nothing but woodgrain (the '83 also had the standard, run-of-the-mill Monte Carlo steering wheel, adding to that specific year's uniqueness) while later years used the upgraded black trim. 1984 was also the first year for the "SS steering wheel." Of course, they didn't add the SS horn button badge until 1985, the same year they started using the black trim and made the SS available in a broader range of colors other than white and steel blue. And, as always, thanks. BTW: The last interior photo I posted is also of an '84, but with '87-'88 MC LS interior trim pieces. It seems whoever owns it is like me in that they don't care at all for '80s GM ploodgrain.
  8. Hmmm ... I think I know for sure why Cletus's dad's 87 had strange paint issues. WMJ was right in that the paint was single stage, but sometimes the dealer would apply a layer of clear to the factory paint, just to make a few extra bucks. Since the clear would expand and contract at different times than the factory paint, due to its hardness, it would, of course, sometimes bubble which would eventually lead to cracking (which is inevitable anyway). Maybe ocn could tell me if I'm right on that one ...
  9. I'm going to the 'yard tomorrow and I'm going to find the interior parts I need to make my innards look like this:
  10. I think I'm going to find some shooped pics of Kate Beckinsale nude to shoo that image out of my brain.
  11. An idea: buy the body for salvage and stuff a new motor and transmission in it. XP: Hurry, snatch that Cutlass up after the motor is seized and put a new motor in it. Find something like an LT1.
  12. The CJ? That's one of two "projects" (and when I say project, I mean lawn ornament) my next door neighbor owns. He's also got an early '80s blue Silverado. He said he planned on working and restoring the both of them. So far, they've sat stationary and untouched from when they first showed up. God I just love some of the people that inhabit this state.
  13. I'm not even going to go there ... Thanks. I actually had the chance to buy one of the bustleback Aerocoupes for two-grand, but passed on it. It needed a lot of work.
  14. Thanks for stopping in and complimenting my Mighty Moby Dick, PCS.
  15. I hope they all bought a f@#king lemon.
  16. Them's fightin werds bo'.
  17. That Aurora might still have had plenty of life left in it if someone properly maintained it ...
  18. For everyone one car like this CFC takes off of an American highway ... We loose two great cars like the BMW or the Aurora. There has to be some sort of flaw in the CFC program that could allow someone to save some of these cars.
  19. Who else thinks GM should only build the Volt in black?
  20. Nope. Not even if I were on a two week bender.
  21. I believe it was base coat-clear coat.
  22. Let me rephrase my post: What the hell is that? amidoinitright?
  23. There's the image that I wanted you to see. But Ted's right, the conversion is similar, if not basically the same. Cletus: It does sound like a case of bad clear coat on your dad's '87 ...
  24. Hope you have a great birthday today.
