  1. I was thinking a bit more south, between Portland and the Fremont National Forest. I'm not really familiar with Oregon, though ... My best classes in high school were History, English, and Art. I'm more so creative (I'm a multi-instrumentalist, I'm always dabbling in music production/engineering/mixing/etc. and I'm always screwing around with Photoshop) than analytical (I do like the challenges that come with doing my own mechanic work), but I am a bit of both. I guess that comes from being sort of a "jack of all trades, but a master of none." I'm leaning to a degree in graphic design, but I doubt if I could find work doing it. I'd also like to do something with music for a living, but I don't think I could stand producing pop records the rest of my life and I'm trying to keep money out of the picture when it comes to making music. I've also considered journalism, but if I couldn't write about music or write for an auto rag, it wouldn't be any fun for me. To be honest, I would love to own my business by the time I'm middle aged. I can work as hard and do a job as good as the next guy, but I don't intend to stay a solider forever; I'd like to be the General.
  2. *dry humps the air*
  3. So another new development, the previous owner found my Craigslist posting for the Rocket 350. Apparently he wants the Regal back and is offering me the '85 Trans Am he offered me in the Monte trade. I told him that I'm not keen on trading since I'm having the engine swapped at the moment and have already started in investing in it. I could do that. I could go a step beyond a turbo V6 (finding one is like trying to find God in a Satanic church) and drop in a nicely tuned 350TPI and a T5. Thanks man! Aside from the engine and mismatched interior, you wouldn't believe how many people have bragged on that Regal; the clean body, the GN hood and spoiler ... Hell, I don't even believe it.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAUF7e1GVrc I love this song. This video is so good, you'd think it was official.
  5. I've thought about Oregon ... If I move out of central Kentucky, I know I won't be back again. If it wasn't for my parents moving here because of the jobs they were holding down way back in the mid-90s, I probably wouldn't be living here. Most of my family lives in southeastern Kentucky and around Bowling Green. I graduated high school with the rest of my class back in June, but I'm in the middle of taking some time away from school all together. I didn't exactly have a pleasant high school experience and that combined with past personal issues really left me feeling burned out about, well, everything. I knew I really needed a breather and a chance to put my head on straight so that I could really determine what direction in life I should take. I know that, with out a doubt in my mind, if I went into college right after high school with a complete and total lack of enthusiasm and not really knowing what major to work for, I would be a college dropout.
  6. I've definitely thought about getting out of Kentucky, I just can't seem to really determine where to go. Junior year of high school, I considered going to AI in Cincinatti and living on the outskirts in Newport, but I also had my doubts about living there and eventually just forgot about it. As for being frustrated about the people around me, most definitely. You wouldn't believe just how many idiots seem to live around the Madison County/Fayette County area. Since graduating high school, I've lost quite a few friends simply because of their own stupidity. I literally have one really friend here that's proven to be honest and reliable and that's pretty damn sad. The rest I don't speak to or are guys I sort of know and chat with if I have them do something to whatever I'm driving. I know I'm going to go to college sometime during 2010, hopefully in the Spring, but the colleges around here are too expensive (UK, UL), slightly expensive and kind of sub-par (EKU, Morehead), or decent and free but with a bunch of strings attached to getting in (Berea College). Dicktrees grow everywhere and it's sometimes hard to spot one.
  7. The ass is still in TexAss, so I guess he'll just have a surprise waiting for him if he comes back to Kin-tuck-ee.
  8. So someone finally confirmed for me that it's a rod. I don't know how I didn't notice this, but the engine was full of Lucas Oil additive to stop the knock when I first got it.
  9. Now isn't the time to have cold feet, I know ... but going from a 350 to a 307 just seems so backwards. Ah, it's my DD so gas mileage counts too, I guess. I just hope this particular 307 isn't as loose and dry down there as its reputation suggests and the fact that it isn't saddled down with a bunch of useless emissions junk helps it a bit. I do understand the head design on the 307 wasn't the best either ...
  10. It's one thing to have someone you thought was a friend trash your Firebird, but having an ex-wife do it is particular corner of Hell I don't want to shine a flashlight on.
  11. I know who it is, it isn't a hunch. Even though he tried to disguise his voice, I recognized a bunch of commonly used phrases that only he uses and his vocal pattern. That was what tipped me off to who was doing it. I even got him to say that it was him and the third time, since he knew I wasn't buying it, he didn't bother with disguising his voice (but he still hid his number). I have two other people who listened to the third call and recognized it as him. He did threaten me and my family way back when he found out legal action was being pursued. I have eyewitnesses for that to call upon as well. The evidence of his activity will be with his cell phone carrier's and my cell phone carrier's call logs. It isn't as good as recorded evidence, but I believe it will suffice.
  12. No doubt. I really have my concerns. Well at least he didn't wreck the wrong guy's car and piss him off.
  13. The e-Quadrajet would be better used as a paperweight. Hands down one of the worst carburetors ever. The issues with the 305 in the Monte I had also stemmed from the carb. In order to replace it and actually correct those issues, you have to remove the ECU, all of the smog equipment, replace the intake manifold, replace the TV cable ... it's a hefty parts list that tallied up to over a grand. The fact that the guy who had it before me appeared to start the job but didn't finish it only made things worse. Chances are, I'm going to keep the Regal. I do wonder how much horsepower I'm losing, though. I know that, at best, a 307 made 180 horsepower stock with all of the smog equipment and primitive '80s electronic junk bogging it down. Does a gain of 50 horses with all of that stuff removed seem to optimistic? And at the same time, I still can't let go of buying a T/A: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/1455983855.html If I sell the Rocket, I'll have some of the money to buy it without giving up the Buick ... like I said earlier, I'll figure something out.
  14. Yes indeed it is. I'm not going to take it lightly or as a joke. Basically, I now have a problem and must work toward fixing it and eliminating any possibility of extremity, if I make any sense. This motherfucker is in the military; he's supposed to be on meds for a mental instability, which I'm starting to question if he's actually taking them; he has access to guns. This could be nasty for me. I don't intend to be the victim of the next Steven Green.
  15. It's good to know I'm still in-check when it comes to the knowing the law and how to make it work for me. If at all possible, I believe I will press charges for terroristic threatening as well and maybe pick up a permit to carry a concealed weapon to go along with my restraining order. I have two eyewitnesses for this. I know this is just the start of a second part of a shitstorm that I had hoped had died down. I guess some people (i.e. the asshole that totaled my Firebird) turn into children after you make them do the right thing. Me apologize for pursuing legal action and forcing a low-life piece of shit to give me what I was entitled to? Me apologize for not letting it go? Me apologize for doing what was right? He better keep dreamin'.
  16. By far the best local commercial. Ever.
  17. Say if someone calls you up, deliberately disguises their phone number and voice using an app for a jailbroken iPhone, and then threatens you with the following, just to name a few things said: "I'm going to put a gun in your mouth and blow your fucking brains out if you don't apologize." "I'm going to wreck all of your fucking cars and burn your house down." "I'm going to kill you right in front of your parents." You probably do have the means to apply for a restraining order, correct?
  18. My listing: http://lexington.craigslist.org/pts/1463520345.html Olds 455: http://lexington.craigslist.org/pts/1463457144.html The other 455: http://lexington.craigslist.org/pts/1429590182.html Rebuilt, doesn't come with a trans, isn't as well-kept: http://tricities.craigslist.org/pts/1426127328.html
  19. The 307 actually surprised me. It was out of a low-mileage 1984 Delta 88 which belonged to the father of the guy who has it now. The block and heads remain untouched; the only parts replaced or removed include all of the smog equipment, the carburetor (which was a dreadful e-Quadrajet to a normal Q-jet), the breather and valve covers (which are Edelbrock brand). The valve pan gaskets are new as well. Thankfully, it hasn't been rebuilt. I'm going to have the block repainted GM Corporate Blue. I have the Rocket for sale on Craigslist. Tonight there were was one other Olds motor posted which was a 455 that sat in a shop for three years and the guy doesn't even know if it runs and the asking price is $250. I also managed to dig up another posting for yet another 455 but the seller doesn't know if the transmission is operational and the asking price is $650; so I think my $500OBO asking price is pretty reasonable I think because my engine does run and the transmission is good. Consider the fact that people buy Olds engines from eBay seized up for well over my asking price, and it's obvious I'm giving it away at such a price.
  20. This thread is worthless without this video. As far as unintentionally horrible local commercials go, this sits on top of the heap and reigns as king.
  21. The 307 I found was solid and I'm dropping in it next weekend for $500 bucks total. The guy I found who will do the swap (he's a friend of my dad and knew the guys who had the 307) should have it done over next weekend and he's going to paint it and install the new front coil springs for me as well. After that, I might sell the Regal or keep it. All depending.
  22. Strange, it looks better with steel rims than with wheel covers.
  23. Can I haz duct tape?
  24. Awesome, gotcha.
  25. Worked for four hours, looked at a shitty Olds 307, went home, went out of town.
