  1. I don't think Bush hates the environment. In fact, I am very pleased to see the stance he took on foreign oil. Very progressive for a conservative.
  2. I didn't know about that. I had at least heard of what he bought. :AH-HA_wink:
  3. I have a feeling you won't be too upset either when you find out what it is.
  4. I have mixed reactions to your rant. As a Canadian I realize that I'm not fully qualified to speak, but hear me out please. First of all, I don't like Mr. Bush, but I do have good reasons. I don't want to talk politics so I won't get into that. I also like Micheal Moore, even though I know that some of what he says are skewing the truth or just fabricating facts the best he can. The "other side" is just as guilty of skewing the truth and fabricating facts, so it doesn't bother me that much. I agree with you on the hybrids. I am doing a lot more for the earth by driving a Cobalt than they are! I'm not a tree hugger, but I'm not going to just burn gas for no reason either. Think of it this way. I'd rather have Micheal Moore make people question American values than watch countless "patriotic" Americans buy Japanese because they have no faith in the Big 3. Keeping money in your own economy is very important. If Magna were to buy Chrysler, my next car would likely be a Chrysler. As much as I have been disappointed by them in the past, it would be nice to finally buy something "Canadian", even if most of the plants would still be in the US.
  5. uh... what? No boat. Del Sol? My father's still straight, you know... :AH-HA_wink: I also can't picture him in a CRX.
  6. A '93 Honda CB750. Not fully a sport bike, not really a cruiser either, but I think it's a pretty cool combination. Powerful little thing too. ---original post--- Hint 1: 1993 model Hint 2: 4 cyl Hint 3: He didn't sell his Grand Prix Hint 4: It's a '93 4-cyl Honda, but I'm happy for him and not upset. So... what is it?
  7. I actually really like those taillights on there. Rest of the car? Nosomuch...
  8. I'm glad I live in Ontario. We're not going to flood for a loooong time. Have fun living in Massachusetts though.
  9. So, do you think the tires are a different size than the car was calibrated for, or is it just off because it's old? How do you adjust for something like that on a car that doesn't have a computer?
  10. Fly - Wikipedia automatically categorizes that stuff. So every time somebody writes an article about someone and puts them in the category of living people, they get added to that list. No one person even came close to doing that.
  11. My father said the dealer fixed it under warranty and he was none too happy about it. As soon as he saw it, he knew that it was that way because they had gone over 120. It was just a matter of getting in there and unsticking the drum from whatever it was caught on after going all the way around. Taking that dash apart is not easy though. Yes, that's right. 120 mph. Before 1977, Canada used Imperial too.
  12. Neat pics Sly. Also, a word of warning from my father. Don't let the speedometer touch the end - it jumps down to 0 and gets stuck there. They had to take the whole dash apart to fix it.
  13. I like it. I really didn't know much about coupes of that vintage so I'm surprised to see how far forward the rear seat is. Looks like it's actually pretty easy to get in and out of. Most modern coupes have the rear seat further back from the door.
  14. To me, eating McDonalds is like smoking. Neither is intelligent, but I understand why people do them. I used to do both, and now I do neither.
  15. - WRX STi - Hi-po versions of previous gen Impreza (don't know trim levels on that one) - Insight (you may hate it but you know this will happen) - Riviera - Jag X-type (?) - VW GTI
  16. Also, $h!t can happen with any engine, even with proper maintenance. My father's Suburban (350) had a clump of oil block the oil pressure sensor so everything looked fine while the oil pump died and the engine proceeded to run for (estimated) 100 km with no oil. Open up the oil pan and there are all these tiny pieces of metal... damn! So yeah, if you can kill a GM 350 in under 200,000 km even with proper maintenance, anything can happen to any engine.
  17. For Software Engineering I had 36-40 credit hours, depending on semester. ...but I've been done for 2 years now!
  18. In my experience, anything under about $3k is not worth claiming. Just makes your insurance go up ridiculously.
  19. but that's totally feather pluckin' insane! :AH-HA_wink:
  20. We just need a Ram plant now, and Canada will make every Chrysler worth buying!
  21. Congrats, Sixty8. I showed these pictures to my father. His father had a '59 LeSabre hardtop in white. It's the car my father learned to drive in. Looking at those pictures brought back some good memories for him. The story it brought to mind made us both laugh. His friend came running out to the car one day when my father was picking him up. The friend miscalculated around the end of the car when running and caught his nuts on the tip of the tailfin. OUCH! Experience with products like this truly leave their mark on a person. My father's first purchased car was a '77 Corolla, since this was all he could afford while in Optometry school (second degree by necessity). After learning to drive in a '59 Buick and driving a '77 Corolla, the impression has lasted ever since. He's bought GM ever since, with the exception of one '83 Ford LTD wagon.
  22. I like to think of the Bible as a large package of rolling papers, bundled for my convenience. :AH-HA_wink: Just kidding. I don't believe the Bible is anything more than explanations of life, written by men, but I would never deface something like that since it's precious to other people.
  23. I am in a different office now. Instead of driving in the 6 or 7 kms to work, I buy a monthly subway pass and take that. Less stress anyways.
  24. IMHO, the Smart car is a lot better than any hybrid. There are no batteries to dispose of. There is no overly complicated drive system. Just good old fashioned engineering which makes for a very efficient car. How is the Smart worth sneering at? Currently so much energy is put into creating the batteries for the hybrids that they actually use MORE energy over their expected life. I remember seeing a newspaper article recently comparing lifetime energy consumption between a Hummer H1 and a Prius, that had the Hummer coming out greener. Can someone confirm this one?
