  1. True. A series hybrid will need all the underhood room it can get. The hood on the Volt looks almost as long as the Impala.
  2. Dislike: Beige, grey/silver, white, green or purple. Any red, yellow or blue is fine, and so is black. Some oranges are OK on some cars.
  3. So... basically the Volt with a rotary, right? The only problem with the rotary design is that it eats more oil than most engines. That doesn't bother sports car buyers, but it would probably bother hybrid buyers.
  4. Yes, it doesn't seem that much (if any) progress was made from the 50s - 80s. It's only since the 80s and only really since the mid 90s that we've made real progress.
  5. It's amazing how far all cars have come since the '80s.
  6. I was looking at a very similar list on my second-last car purchase. I ended up going with the Lumina because of low insurance rates. Make sure you check those.
  7. Perhaps. A five speed auto makes no difference when you want a manual though. :AH-HA_wink: Plus, I am budget minded, I just didn't want a Daewoo (Aveo). I'm glad the Cobalt was so cheap. Otherwise I probably would have bought the Spectra.
  8. Ahh, a new C+G generation meets Harry. Enjoy, kids!
  9. The Civic is still considerably more money. Back when I was buying my Cobalt (Aug 2005) there were only two other cars I was seriously considering: The Civic and the Kia Spectra. The Spectra was not as good a car as the Cobalt, and the Civic would have cost me $4k more in the end. $4k is a good class divider, IMHO.
  10. Unfortunately it was for 50 Cent.... "Amusement Park". Typical pop rap video with women grinding on the hood of a car, in this case a G8 and what looks to be a G6 GXP. Check it out at the link. There's a few second shot from 2:00 to 2:04, and another few seconds just before 3:00. youtube
  11. 69 1/2 Trans Am ragtop, just because.
  12. You DO realize you have two silver cars, right??? :AH-HA_wink:
  13. You are already doing the right thing by splitting up. One of my ex-girlfriends in high school had parents who hated each other. They "stayed together for the kids" and that was the worst decision they could have ever made. Older daughter (my ex) got the brunt of both parents fighting over parenting styles and basically ended up feeling like a pawn and very unloved. Younger daughter got the opposite reaction, because they were scared of scarring her for life as well. She turned into a bit of a valley girl and spoiled brat. Neither is an ideal child rearing situation or an ideal adult as a result. Despite all her faults though, I still keep in touch with her and have some feelings for her. She's currently living for a few years in Ireland. We'll have to see what happens when she comes back.
  14. Actually, yes, this is the first one I've seen in real life. Is this really that old?? By 'short' I meant height, not length.
  15. I saw one on the street today, looked funny for an SUV to be that short. RDX: 1655 mm Compare this to Vibe/Matrix: 1580 mm Equinox/Torrent: 1703 mm RAV4: 1745 mm I mean, yes, it's taller than the Vibe/Matrix, but that's not saying much.
  16. I think he ran into it? I'm not sure what he meant by "ate", but that's the impression I get.
  17. I think Sly probably died a little inside when he saw this picture.
  18. See my post here: Hydrogen thread
  19. I could give a s--t less about any Idol show, but I really wanted Sanjaya to win, just so that show would "jump the shark" and get the hell off my TV.
  20. The "Worst Case Scenario" thread brought back a memory of a TV show that I thought you might all be interested in. FOG was mentioning that it shouldn't be hard to retrofit cars to run on hydrogen. Turns out he's right, as long as the car is carburetted. The show Mythbusters was testing methods of saving fuel. You've all seen the crappy infomercials, so they were testing if any of these products were actually worth money. To test, they had an early 90's Accord, representing fuel injected cars, and a late 70s Oldsmobile Omega, representing carburetted cars. They tried all the fuel saving methods on both cars, and they all failed, some even made the mileage worse. Then they tried this special method they found on the internet of making a carburetted car into a hydrogen car. First they disconnected the fuel line. Then they built a special box to go where the carburettor was, and pumped hydrogen from a tank into that (they were just trying to start the car, not drive it). The box was built wrong and didn't work. So, they gave a very stern "Don't try this at home kids", and stuck the hose from the hydrogen tank right into the hole where the carburettor was, and started the car! It ran for about 15 seconds, then they had a minor backfire which scared them and they stopped the experiment. My point, however, is that it obviously can't be that hard to make one of those cars run on hydrogen - just pump in the hydrogen and seal it up to prevent what happened to them. Pretty cool little finding, I thought.
  21. Boobs always make the cars look better.
  22. Picturing his tone of voice if he said this, and I can't stop laughing!! Bitch, please... You crack me up BV!
