  1. Just found this. Mountain bikers and road bikers are like Jeep fans and Lambo fans - more different than alike.
  2. Real mountain bikes don't tend to have numbers on the shifters. If you have time to look at your shifters to see what gear you're in, you're riding the wrong kind of trail. It would be like someone looking down at the shift pattern on the top of a manual shift knob while racing a car. You don't need to, because you already know what gear you're in. Jeep may make a crappy mountain bike, but there is more to mountain bikes then road bikes. It takes a lot of expertise to make something that can survive the constant abuse some people give their bikes.
  3. I like the brake light idea. I think the reverse idea is going a bit too far - who cares how close they are if you're stopped? If you guys like the screen idea so much, check this out.
  4. So... was it a violation of your parents property rights when they FED YOU FOR FREE and CHANGED YOUR DIAPERS? WHAT AN A##HOLE.
  5. That makes a bit more sense. The name "Highway Hifi" is a bit misleading then.
  6. Yesterday on the way back to Toronto I went back through Hamilton, down the escarpment on the 403. 1. Reset mileage, right at the top of the escarpment. 2. Accel to 135 km/h or so. 3. Right lane, throw it in neutral. 4. At the bottom, still going about 105 km/h, DIC showing 0.9 l/100km. I tried changing to MPG to see what it was but the DIC can't show numbers that big, it was just "99.9 MPG", so here it is translated online: 261.349537 miles/gallon(US) Now that's an efficient idle. Normal good highway mileage if I'm slow is 5.7 l/100km. Can't be bothered to translate that one cause I already closed the window.
  7. Sorry for the multi-post, but I just realized something else: The more I look at that Cadillac bike picture the more I'm not impressed. It has the same cheap seat post design that I've managed to snap a bolt on twice that I finally just replaced. It also has what's called V-brakes. They're the traditional bike brakes that pinch the sides of the rim to brake. They're hard to adjust, wear out fast and don't work well at all in mud or even rain. They're mostly relegated to bargain bin bikes you find at Sears. I've even seen a few Sears bikes with disc brakes like the pictured Kona. That's also a really small gear set, especially having only 2 in the front. Why would Caddy put their name on a cheap bike?
  8. Road bikes are for wimps. Give me a good 'real' mountain bike, like the one I have: I became a GM fan by owning one and having a good experience. I became a Kona fan the same way.
  9. I don't consider any of those three affordable.
  10. Ah, sweet innocent BV. This shocks you? I know a few girls whove slept with guys whose names they dont know. I've also seen a couple do it right next to a campfire with about 15 people around. Worst part is they didn't gather to watch the live porno, they were already there when it started.
  11. Awesome. Great to see a company with the balls to truly innovate like this. I'm kind of surprised that it's VW though... would have expected it more from BMW or DCX.
  12. Yep. I just ran across this. Any idea how often they skipped?
  13. Who can tell me what this is a schematic for? Hints: 1. It's pretty old. 2. Never expected to see one in a car...
  14. They actually really played this up on talk radio in Toronto. They said there were 7 cases in Canada of people getting burns from the faulty ignition sauter getting on their feet or legs. The announcer then followed that up with a very awkward "Yikes!". It was kind of overacted I thought. Not usually the treatment that Japanese recalls get in the news.
  15. I don't like this design, but that is kind of a cool picture you posted. Ironic that you called it ugly at the same time. I wouldn't call this design ugly, just derivative and boring.
  16. True. I'll just commission buickman or harry to clean the brains off the flame suit.
  17. Oh, by the way I do like coupes as well... It's just that none of those cars come as coupes, with the exception of the Civic. That's really sad actually. There are no affordable 4-cyl compact coupes left. Cobalt and Civic are the only ones, unless you count the New Beetle *barf*. BMW and Mercedes make 4-cyl coupes, but I'm not that rich yet...
  18. Now I'm not sure the flame suit was a good choice. Maybe I should have hid under a garbage bag to protect myself from the exploding brains of Monte, Wildman and 68?
  19. Hows about I make BV look good? hmmm... models rather than brands for me. *puts flame suit on* Mazda 3 sport Civic coupe Golf Jetta Caliber Prius Yaris hatch Focus 3-door or 5-door Aerio hatch In that order. Funny, even though I like Nissan, they have nothing that appeals to me right now.
  20. Hey, in the US, where you pay for your own health care, do whatever you want.... what does the country care? Why would they bother making laws? Making helmet laws makes a little more sense in Canada, because it actually costs the government money when these idiots hurt themselves.
  21. I think people who ride BIKES without helmets are crazy, never mind a f-ing MOTORCYCLE. One of my good friends walked into my dorm room one day with half his helmet in each hand. He was mountain biking on a very tight trail, came up over a crest, into the air and straight into a tree head first. Helmet split right in half. He hurt his legs a little on landing, but at least his head was OK. Another friend was biking right in front of me and took a spill right onto the top of his head onto some stone steps. When he sat up he talked gibberish for about 30 seconds and scared the crap out of me. Thankfully he came back to his senses after, and was OK. I saw some kid I didn't know out on the trails not wearing a helmet. I watched him slide out and go into a tree with his cheek. He got all cut up from it, and when I told him that a helmet would have hit the tree first he just stared at me. Stupid kids.
  22. Scary thing is, if global warming keeps going, it could.
  23. As much as I still hate that black plastic on the rear end, it has really grown on me. First Chrysler I've liked in a LONG time.
  24. Something about this particular side shot reminds me of the 1st gen Aurora. Seems like a great deal. Good for you, no more tick tick tick.
  25. I wasn't aware that Delphi worked for anyone but GM.
