    535i BMW

I miss the pre-bangle styles, as I'm sure many do. That is something that cannot be said for the current styles. Even down the line, after many design changes, I still can't imagine anyone missing this point in BMW's design history.

One thing that can be said for BMW is they didn't stick to the norm. They took a chance with their designs and did something out of the ordinary. You sure can't really blame them for being bland or boring. Love them or hate them, they are doing relatively well. I'd even say their controversial styling elements have stirred up other manufacturers to follow in their footsteps, even down to using some of their design cues.
  4. I saw my first SportCombi yesterday and thought the same exact thing.
  5. I'd assume around 160-something in the 540...The speedo stops at 155 which is where it is originally limited to, but with the limiter removed my car does somewhere around 170 stock. I've brought it way past the 155 mark, so I'd assume in the 160's somewhere...

The 550 is significantly faster than that. 5.5 is what my car does. 4.8-ish is more along the lines of the 550.I hate this car with a passion. I'm glad to see they put the 3.0TT in there, and the interior changes they made are nice, but I still hate this car from a styling standpoint. Oh, BTW, Here's the link...your link just takes me to the homepage... http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...47/pageNumber=1
  7. We picked up a 46" Sony Bravia XBR3 a couple months ago. Very nice TV (looks really good in terms of picture and design as well). A bit pricey, but we got a decent deal on it as my buddy worked for Best Buy at the time. I love watching our FiOS HD on it...Time to get an HD DVD or BluRay player though.

  10. That's a pretty ignorant comment, don't you think? I suppose the same can be said for the fools who buy domestic vehicles when the Japanese clearly produce superior automobiles. Oh, btw, regarding the topic, I don't like the idea of an electronic dipstick, I think it is stupid, over-engineered bull$h! which a lot of manufacturers, specifically luxury makes, are getting too accustomed to doing. So don't think by my previous posts that I'm trying to justify it.
  11. I'd say the majority of people take their cars to Jiffy Lube or the Stealership when it comes to changing their oil. The ones who do it themselves know how to change the oil on their own cars regardless of the weird things that need to be done. Most of those people are the car enthusiasts, and you will tend to find that most with much older cars that are out of their CPO/New car warranty covering full maintenance. I can't imagine many owners of newer BMW's with the dipstick-less setup are out of their warranty as of yet. Hell, even in my car there is something that needs to be reset when you change the oil. There is an inspection light bar on the dash with little bars that gradually go down based on oil consumption, I believe. The bars are green, but when you get down low enough a yellow bar will light up notifying you that it is inspection time, and I think if you go long enough it turns red and the car goes into limp mode...Not positive of that though. But I have a code reader tool which allows me to reset lights including the inspection/service bar.
  12. Not only is it tiny, but it is ugly too.
  13. According to my OBC I'm averaging about 17.4 mpg.
  14. $65 actually makes sense if that is truly what it is (relatively inexpensive, actually)...With 8 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic (about 55 bucks) and an oil filter (another 10 bucks) I'm droppin' about that much when I change my oil. Regardless, there is no question that it is a stupid design....Needless overengineering. My car has a dipstick, and a sensor, so the OBC will still tell me if the oil is low or not even if I didn't check the dipstick. Granted, BMW's maintenance programs are pretty good, CPO included, but that still doesn't excuse it way down the road when it is out of warranty. I wouldn't go by BMW's recommended oil changes anyway. I have seen major sludge problems result over time from the recommended oil service levels (on some older engines anyway). Even with my full synthetic, the longest I leave my oil is 5,000.
  15. Haven't seen the movie...but Brokovich actually lives in or around my area, and I believe Thousand Oaks (my town) is one of the main settings for the actual situation at least...I know she lives here, and her lawyer is from here as well.
  16. Yeah, the first one actually seems to have a lot of Slayer influence as well as some influence from the Choad albums and a bit from St. Anger...it is better, but I think a lot of the crappiness of Metallica as of late has to do with James' vocals and lyrics. They just don't mesh well with the instrumentals in my opinion, and obviously his voice isn't like it was back in the day. The second one is ok too...a lot thrashier which is nice to hear, but a bit too modern-punkish in my opinion....I dunno...obviously it is too early to make any judgments, but I'm interested in hearing more...

    What happened to Croc anyway?

  19. This doesn't really have to do with making sales or looking around, but last weekend I needed to change my oil. I stopped by Rusnak Westlake AG (BMW, of course), and like usual their parking situation blows. They have a complimentary valet, but I just had to go in and pick up an oil filter...nothing major. Across the street is the ford dealership. Their guest parking lot always has spaces, so I generally park in there, cross the street, and I'm back before anyone notices or cares. This time I parked there I noticed a salesperson showing a family an edge kinda close to the guest parking lot. As I parked and hopped out of my car and proceeded to walk across the street, the guy comes chasing after me... "Sir! Sir! You cannot park here, this is Ford guest parking only." I was like, "Dude, look, there's no parking over there, I just need to make a quick run in, and I will be out in a couple minutes." He stated again "You can't park here, your car will be towed!" Finally I was like "Fine! Tow my car! Do you really think you could possibly get a tow truck out here in less than 5 minutes?" He was all "Uh...well...err.....you can't park here." I just laughed and continued on my way. Needless to say, I came back out a couple minutes later with an oil filter in my hand and nobody around...nobody caring. It wasn't until I came back out and looked at my car that I noticed I was horribly double parked as well... I got a good laugh at that one.
  20. Meh...not as big as I'd like...The '48 will get a SBC when the time comes to actually putting it back together. The 528 will soon get traded in for something else, most likely with at least 8 cylinders. Man, I love V8's...Nothing like 'em...
  21. I actually have not seen one single tundra. But I am happy to report huge amounts of GMT-900's being spotted around the So-Cal region...
  22. As far as cars go... me: 540 - 8 the family all together - 540 - 8 528 - 6 X5 - 8 IS300 - 6 '48 chevy pickup - 6 Total = 34 With other "transportation" vehicles: Go-ped - 1 minibike - 1 other minibike - 1 total = 37
  23. PANTERA?! I hated Choad and Rechoad...Their last good album was the black album. If their new album is anything like St. Anger, well...then that's just sad. I have heard it is supposed to have more of a MOP sound to it though...I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one...
  24. I absolutely hate silver. I also hate any earthy tones and dark versions of colors (like navy blue). I like bright, bold colors. I like colors a lot seem to hate, specifically from BMW. I love Laguna Seca Blue, I love Phoenix Yellow, I like white too (but more specifically Alpineweiss on BMW's...I don't know why, but alpine and BMW goes together perfectly in my opinion). I love reds as long as they are bold....nothing too dark/maroonish. I really like oranges as well like originally on the CTS, or more recently on the vette or gto. Yellows are cool in my book, some blues, but again, nothing too dark. BMW Estoril blue is a very nice blue. Black, of course. So, basically, for me it is all about White, Black, and vibrant/bold/primary colors. Everything else can take a hike. I absolutely hate everything else. Especially silver and the like...
