  1. That's what I figured...It's just sad to see. I know not long ago they were considering phasing out the manual tranny altogether.
  2. I love how the review makes it sound like BMW's are readily available with manual transmissions...please! I wish that was the case. Sure, the manual tranny is available as an option through the website, but unless you are custom ordering your car through BMW, I guarantee you will be hard pressed to find any BMW on the lot with a manual tranny. Hell, I think the only ///M that even offers it right now is the ///M coupe. So sad.
  3. I work in a pharmacy so it is nothing new to me. Honestly I have never thought about it. Have you never heard of Aciphex before? Fairly popular it seems...
  4. Happy B-Day Dude!
  5. I'd say the G8 compares with the 5+ year old e39. (wow...hard to believe it has been out of production that long...)
  6. My family is a GM family when in general...Otherwise, in the immediate family, we primarily consist of BMW's...All Alpineweiß. My sister had to be the outcast...first had a silver is300 and now has a pearl white g35c.
  7. I can't believe I just thought of this, but that just begs the question, how the hell would you hear them on a phone? I can't imagine there is any phone out there which can reproduce such high frequencies... For example, the iphone only goes up to 20 khz.
  8. I have excellent hearing, but I was surprised when I could only hear up to 19. Probably from all the metal I listen to at obscene volumes. By the way, unless your speaker's FR range goes as high as some of the upper range ones (like 20, 21, 22, etc...) you won't be able to hear it. I'm using my headphones, but the FR on my Grado RS-1's are 12 hz to 30 khz. Actually, upon hearing them again, I was able to hear up to 22. Barely.
  9. Bad idea on the drilled/slotted rotors...you're best off with blanks, and for pads, Hawk HP+ pads are very nice...best if you are going for performance...not so great for noise, dust, and life. Also, if you haven't already; braided lines and ATE Super Blue fluid. You even mentioned it yourself how bad your torque steer is. What the car can handle in terms of power is different than what the engine can handle. It's great that you "plan" to get the chassis dialed in, but I feel your order of things is off. On the other hand, what is most important is what the driver can handle. The smart thing to do would be invest money in yourself. If you had a stock ss and had HPDE courses under your belt I guarantee you would be faster around a track than a kid with a tuned SS and no experience. There is no use in extending the abilities of a car when the driver lacks the ability to perform the car at its limits in a controlled fashion. I await the comments about how I don't know of your driving abilities. Well, you're right, I don't. But I know they aren't nearly as good as they would be if you took a HPDE course, or hell, even attended a track day or auto-x (which from the sounds of a previous post of yours, you haven't, but are planning to this summer.) The other great thing about investing into yourself is nobody can take that away from you. You will always have it with you even after you crash/sell/whatever your car. Then you can carry it on to your next car. I'd say the driver mod is the most worthwhile mod out there. Reminds me of a video I was watching the other day...A brand new GT3 RS speeding through the Ring...All of a sudden, you see an old e28 5-series fly past it through a turn. The RS makes up some space in the straights, but it doesn't last long...once the twisties start back up again the 5er is gone. The RS never catches up in the remainder of the video. Granted, the 5er had to have been modified for how it was performing, but the RS is a superior car no matter how much money you put into that 5er, and for how the 5er laid waste to the RS, it was clear who the more experienced driver was. I know it is an answer you don't want to hear. Many believe the only way for them to go faster is to make their car faster (or buy a faster car.) In the end, all the power, all the suspension work, every little mod means nothing if it can't be exploited properly. But hey, at least you have bragging rights. Side note...No good comes from being dependent on credit, but it is just as bad, if not worse to have zero credit.
  10. Ok...I don't like the front (namely, the grill) but otherwise, it looks intriguing.
  11. That's an e36 M3. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. . Seriously...it seems my first post went disregarded. I like you Frank...really, I do, which is why I hate to put this so bluntly... You need to STOP BEING A f@#kING RICER! Seriously man...use your head. Time, money, and effort much better spent elsewhere.
  13. It is technically right...When you take your foot off the gas pedal and say you are coasting or going down a hill, the engine will automatically shut off fuel. The movement of the car connected through the drive train supplies the engine with enough momentum to keep it revolving, but obviously you will slow down due to the concept of engine braking. So theoretically, you are getting an infinite amount of miles per gallon because technically you aren't using any fuel. (of course, there is a threshold...when the engine dips down far enough into the rpm gas flow will start back up again as it goes into idle mode)
  14. Yeah...it kind of reminds me of Dakar... Except I think Dakar is a bit paler.
  15. Get the suspension dialed in before go-fast mods...Hell, I'd say get the driver dialed in before anything. Invest that money in some high performance driver education courses. Go to some track days and auto-x's. Then get your suspension dialed in...There is no use in having a ton of power if it exceeds the abilities of the car (and not to mention, the driver.) The idea of a TT setup is cool, and everyone wants more power, but there are other factors to be considered here. Ricer.

EMT is just qualification for BLS...nothing spectacular really, and I believe all firefighters are required to have it. You can still be a firefighter as a paramedic, you just make more.

I'd recommend becoming a paramedic. The EMT training can be completed with little effort. Hell, I think there are accelerated courses you can take which last little more than a month. After that you can run split-rig alongside paramedics and get a good deal of training under your belt while you attend paramedic school (which I believe runs around 6-months.) As a firefighter, you will not only get a stipend over your regular income for being certified in ALS as a paramedic (I want to say it is like 16% above or something like that here...) but you also have authority over the firefighters (yes, even the chief) as a paramedic. There are a lot of benefits to being a paramedic.
  18. I'm very grateful I grew up around the muscle of yesteryear (in the form of family hot rods, old school muscle, and v-drive speedboats.) Being thankful for the LSx series of engines, and I can only hope its legacy continues on along with GM's extensive line of crate engines. With the exception of some Italian engines, and possibly a Bavarian I6, I can honestly say I will never stray far from a V8. Nothing can compare, and fuel, regardless the cost, will never dictate my driving habits.

In regards to the facial hair, I try to maintain a consistent 5 o'clock shadow. I still use my trimmer every morning, but if I didn't I'd have a full grown beard in as little as a few days. I keep a little goatee under my lower lip though. I feel the shadow and small goatee add good definition to my face. It all blends together quite nicely. Side note...I'd love to become a firefighter (focusing on paramedics.) I have good connections into Paramedics and when I was considering it not too long ago I went on a few runs. I loved it; unfortunately I need something that is going to make me more money. Around here paramedics easily make six figures, but anything less is practically poverty level out here anyway. Besides, I want to finish my schooling and get my MBA first and foremost.

I'm very Italian, with possibly a touch of Austrian blood. I definitely have the Italian looks. :AH-HA_wink: Just wish I could afford the Italian looks in car form...Oh well...In due time. I suppose in the mean time the Bavarian looks will have to make up for the lack of my Aryan blood.
  21. Oddly enough, my dad just may be considering a Camaro for his next car...He hasn't discussed it much, but I showed him some of the shots and he said he just might have to wait and see how the final product turns out. On the other hand, he has been eying 997's and Vantage's... Odd arrangement of products to be cross shopping. Come the end of the year though my mom is going to ditch the X5 in favor of something else...most likely a 997 (reliving the days of her old Porsche she had when she was a kid....it was stolen and stripped) in which case it is up in the air for what my dad will be getting.
  22. Uneducated fools... I can't stand all this global warming bull$h! any longer. The masses won't ever hear the truth...Emissions induced global warming has turned into a multi-billion dollar enterprise, so it should come as no surprise how global warming is being propagated. The real truth is the Sun commands our global temperature more than anything. In fact, regardless of what the global warming advocates want to believe, we are heading towards a cooling trend. Solar energy has actually been decreasing slightly, which is natural for the phases the sun goes through...especially its 11 year sunspot cycle. In a decade or so the sun is expected to enter into its lowest Schwabe cycle in a long time which is very likely to send us into another Maunder minimum. I'll try to refrain from getting into details too much...This entire situation is just so ironic. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. The sheep have no idea what they are in for.
  23. Daughter, eh? Just remember who drives the BMW around here.
  24. For $500 I'd do it just so I could drive it off some sweet jumps...tray sliding too (finally found a good use for fwd.)
  25. Haha...I forgot about that... I think Tomahawk would make a great name. I really despise the general consensus by a lot of these message boards and blogs whose members feel it would be stupid to not call it "El Camino." It isn't a Chevy...yet, these are the same people who would generally demand the same name if it was a GMC just because they are note familiar with the name "Sprint" (not that it would be that great of a name anyway.)
