  1. The dash in that picture looks poor. Maybe it's the poor lighting, but it just looks bad to my eyes. Pieces don't seem to fit very well and there are some gaps that are a little surprising to see in a Toyota. Once again, Toyota continues the tradition of sticking the most boring wheel covers on their cars. This is a warmed over version (with one less spoke) of the same wheel covers they have been using for years now on Camrys. And each time I can't help but think how cheap and boring they look. And why is it that every Toyota I spot seems to be the base level model with wheel covers? Wheels are like shoes to a car, and Toyota always seems to pick the K-Mart brand.
  2. So, essentially ZIL produced Russian "Cadillacs." Some of the pics from that website bear uncanny resemblences to 50s and 60s Cadillacs.
  3. Not to mention that there are people on both sides of the fence that tend to be whiny and insecure. There is a guy in my studio that is extremely liberal, and he is one of the biggest whiners I have ever met. He's always complaining that he doesn't get how to do this, or doesn't understand why we have to do that...wah wah wah. Hell, I'm from the fairly conservative Midwest, and many of the people that are very conservative here are farmers who grew up doing farm labor as kids where complaining was not tolerated. This study is clearly flawed...they should have studied different regions of the country. Personally, I don't think political leaning has any correlation to how much you complain. Your personality is determined by your parents and how you were raised.
  4. Bingo. Scarface for both of them.
  5. "In that thing??" "But 'is a Cadillac! She has a few years on her, but she's a cream puff." "It looks like somebody's nightmare." "I bury those cock-a-roaches!"
  6. Detroit News
  7. I see tons of the old PT Cruisers around here, but I have yet to see one of the refreshed ones. I think my image of PT Cruisers was soured when all the women in my family (mom, aunts, etc) thought it was the greatest thing on wheels and all wanted one.

  9. I'm still a little confused...did someone expose AH-HA, which is why he is shutting down his site and saying goodbye to us all? And does that mean his job at CSM is at stake?
  10. This doesn't sound as revolutionary as the GM test drive attraction they're building in Las Vegas. Skip Barber and others already have driving schools like this...and "exclusive" isn't exactly the way to get the word out.
  11. That guy is definitely a rabid GM fan. Too rabid.
  12. Maybe two or three times since I started drinking. The first time was November '04...I had 6 bottles of beer in a short period of time and hardly anything in my stomach...I got sick by about 12:30 and have never touched Blue Moon beer since. The other two times were both this year, once earlier in the year hanging out on the floor and once in December when I was feeling kinda depressed and ended up nearly punching a drunk guy that threw his cup of beer at me. Despite all that, I've never gotten to the point where I don't remember it the next morning. I also don't like getting drunk because I don't like the idea of not being in control of myself. And even when I am drunk, I'm never loud and obnoxious like most people get...I'm usually just my normal self. Plus, all that alcohol it takes to get you drunk = wasted money.
  13. A co-worker of mine had a green 1999 Intrigue that he had for about a year until he sold it for an F-150 Lightninig. It was a nice car...that and the Aurora are among two of my favorite Oldsmobiles from the 90s. It's still a shame that Olds was killed...it easily had the best looking lineup in the late 90s / early 00s of any GM division, IMO.
  14. True, true. The 90s interiors were probably a reaction to the excess of the 80s. I can remember sitting in those interiors when I was a kid and sinking back in like the seat was swallowing me up! I remember riding in the back seat of my dad's Cutlass Supreme surrounded by plush everything and little opera windows off to my sides and thinking how neat the blue color of the seats was. Then, not long after that, we got our '93 Villager with gray sandpaper cloth seats and rattle-tastic gray dash. Even at that age, I knew what cheap was.
  15. According to the Ebay site, it looks like it's in Saddle River, NJ.
  16. I was looking around on Ebay a lot yesterday at the big C and B bodies of the late 70s and early 80s and it brought back vague memories of me riding around in GM's when I was little where there was so much luxury inside. You went from almost excess padding and bright colors in the 80s to gray plastic and ill-fitting, monotone interiors in the 90s....what happened, GM?
  17. I have to be realistic since I'm only 21 and won't be able to afford anything new for years, so here's what I've been eyeing for my next car: Older... 1984-1992 Lincoln Mark VII 1985-1993 Mustang GT Any 1981-1988 G-body Newer... 2001-2004ish Lincoln LS (whatever is below $8000) Late 90s Cadillac Seville STS 1993-1997 Ford Thunderbird SC / Mercury Cougar XR-7
  18. I'm seeing a ton of Lucernes on the road here in Iowa, almost as often as I see '06 Impalas. I think it might have something to due with our typically older population, but I hope Lucernes are also selling to younger people too.
  19. Cleanest, newest looking diesel Buick I have ever seen. $14800 with only 9486 miles. More Images
  20. Me in 1985 with the keys to my grandpa's Grand Marquis Me and my sister in 1988 on my Big Wheels bike...I would always burn out the front tire so much that it would wear holes in the plastic...damn FWD! Sliding at age 5 I got my Power Wheels Jeep after I had ear surgery when I was 6 for being good. It was supposed to be for my sister and I, but I never let her drive it...
  21. I used to be kinda like you in high school...I never went out and partied or did any crazy stuff like a lot of the jocks and preps did. Luckily, my good friends were the same way, so I never felt totally isolated, but there were groups that I just didn't click with because they were the wild and crazy type while I was more of the "good kid" type. Anyway, I loosened up in college and have discovered that you can still hold the same values and beliefs you have but not be so strict about them. I go out and drink occasionally, but I choose to do it in a responsible manner where I will remember everything the next morning. I don't smoke or do drugs and never plan on doing anything like that, but for the few friends of mine that do, I'm cool with it and don't act uptight around them. That's the key thing...you have to be accepting of something even if you may not agree with it. Now, of course there are limits...I wouldn't be hanging around with junkies or alcoholics...but people are not 100% perfect, so you have to learn to accept those for what they are and what values they hold.
  22. I don't know how many have ever had this happen before or what it is even called, but a few minutes ago I was reading our local newspaper and it has a section called "Peekin' in the Past" where they print headlines from 20, 50, and 75 years ago. Anyway, one of the stories from March 12, 1986 read: That's not the weird part. A few minutes later I went back to checking out C&G and discovered this post by Flybrian on the Hyundai Azera: I was shocked to see the same description only two minutes later, even though I had never heard it used before in my life. A similar thing happened to me over a year ago. I was at a family get-together for Thanksgiving when somehow my cousin and I got on this discussion of zeppelins. He said "You know that other name for zeppelin is dirigible, right?" I said "Dirigiwhat?" and he wrote it down for me how it was spelled. Then he walked off to refill his cup and I was flipping through channels and stopped at the Discovery Channel. To my suprise, they were doing one of those on-the-hour promotions for "Modern Marvels: Dirigibles." It was the FIRST time in my life I had ever heard that word used, and yet there it was only minutes after my cousin told me about it. What are the odds? Now that I think about it, I also remember being in a music store a few years ago and I was checking out song titles on the back of an album. Minutes later, a song by a different artist came on over the loudspeakers with the same lyrics as the song title I just read. Is there a name for this phenomenon?
