Everything mentioned above, along with the '39 Merc two-door convertible and the Marquis and Meteor Montcalm from the 60s and 70s. I like most Mercuries from 1960 up through about 1978 and then the Cougar line and Grand Marquis after that. 1957-1959 Mercs have never really appealed to me very much...the styling seemed too busy.

Teens protest disciplinary action at Cape Cod high school

If you guys think kids are getting bad now, wait another generation or two. My mom is a teacher and each year the kids have had more behavioral issues. Over a third of her class is on medication of some sort, and 4 out of the 18 have ADHD. The problem is that there are too many irresponsible parents who don't take the time to raise their kids or are too busy abusing drugs and alcohol to care about their child's development. I've seen it with some of my former high school friends who got pregnant young and leave the kid with a babysitter or friend all the time so they can go out and get stoned and $h!faced, instead of being a parent. And the ones who seem to be having the most kids are the ones who do the least to raise them. The self-entitlement and irresponsibility is only going to get worse unless society finds a way to reverse the problem. -
I know there are lots of Pennsylvania forumers here, so I thought I would share this neat promotional video of Philadelphia & surrounding areas from around 1951. Pre-offshoring,pre-drive thru, and mostly pre-suburbia, this is an interesting blast from the past. Little did they know that the mighty Bethlehem Steel would be nothing more than a memory in 45 years.

This video playing simultaneously with the bobbling avatar is enough to give small children nightmares.

I was a kid during the dark ages of the automobile, so I don't recall much besides the things mentioned here that I learned of long after the fact. I do remember lots of droopy headliners in 80's era cars. My uncle's '83 Dodge and my parents' '86 Ciera suffered from headliner droop. Oh, and my dad's old diesel Rabbit was a stinky little vermin.

White Zombie - Black Sunshine Gripping the wheel, his knuckles went white with desire! The wheels of his Mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45. True death: 400 horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night... This is black sunshine.

I had some hope that they would've fixed the tall profile by the way some of the camo photos looked, but the production model seems to be as tall as the concept was. I love the coupe's detailing, but like the LaCrosse, they went too extreme and too polarizing when it comes to the body profile. Both the LaCrosse and CTS Coupe have more of a Japanese vibe from the side. Here are side profiles done the right way Compared to this

GM Engineering Chief Reuss Hopes for RWD Chevys, Buicks

It's amazing how fast things can change in a year. -
For college football, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and University of Nebraska Huskers are the only two teams I get nauseated by. I don't mind Iowa at times and have been to a few games at Kinnick, but I enjoy seeing them lose when the season starts going to their head. Nebraska was a powerhouse in the 90's but ever since Tom Osborne retired they have become mediocre, yet still as cocky as ever. You can't watch any Omaha or Lincoln news station during football season without 10 minutes per broadcast spent gushing over the Huskers. As we like to say in Iowa, Huck the Fuskers!

Nice selection of cars, but I am going to hold out for GT5. I am getting a PS3 fairly soon and having wireless and blue-ray sold me on it over the 360. GT5 development takes so long because they are meticulous about the end product...which is worth the wait, IMO. Also, the graphics in GT5 look to be quite a bit better than Forza, with better reflection mapping and higher detail background scenery.

Hope you get well ZL-1...H1N1 is some nasty stuff. While the media has played up H1N1 a little bit, it isn't something to be taken lightly. My mom almost died from it in 1976 during the last big outbreak. She was a senior in high school and went to school feeling slightly sick in the morning, and by early afternoon she was in the nurse's office but they wouldn't call her parents to pick her up and take her home. By the time she got home at 4:00 she had become so ill that she curled up on a floor furnace vent, but was shivering uncontrollably, and my grandpa rushed her to the hospital. The doctor spent the entire night at her bedside and said had they waited a couple more hours to bring her in, she wouldn't have made it.

I chose a Camaro and Corvette. Camaro for me, and a Corvette to give to my dad to compliment his '68 and '78 Vettes.

You'd think the guy would've figured out after the plastic started warping that maybe the jack was in the wrong spot?

A crane toppled over at one of our job sites today, crushing a Silverado, part of a Sierra, sheared off a corner of the contractor office, and flattened half of a guard shed. Amazingly, nobody was injured even though workers were in both buildings. The boom crane that fell was being used to erect two larger tower cranes (taken a couple hours before it tipped over).

I'm kind of shocked the mentioned Guttenberg, because I was thinking that before I even got to the slideshow. It's definitely not a well known town, but it has some interesting topography. The town is long and narrow, sandwiched between high bluffs and the mile wide Mississippi, and much of the original Main Street has been preserved. Some others I would mention: Galena, IL (this should have been on there...one of the greatest small town downtowns in the USA) McGregor, IA (better than Guttenburg, IMO) Decorah, IA Dubuque, IA Helena, MT Coeur d'Alene, ID Juneau, AK Portsmouth, NH Augusta, ME

Never really got into Bob Dylan or folk. The Beatles are another band that I have tried to get into, but they never hold my interest for long. Helter Skelter and Come Together are the only two Beatles songs I would listen to on a regular basis. There's not much music from the 60s that I really enjoy until one starts getting toward 1968-1969.

What year is the Grand Marquis?

Our office had its Halloween day yesterday, which starts off by "working" from 8-12 (although not much work gets done when you're looking at everyone's costumes), then the partners bought pizza and we ate from 12-1, and then bowling from 1-4 followed by announcing the winners in our costume competition. I was part of the Addam's family and we won best group. Afterward, we went over to a co-worker's house for a Halloween party. Today, I watched Iowa amazingly score 28 comeback points in the 4th quarter to win against Indiana, and then tonight I'm heading to a co-worker's for a Halloween movie night.

Yup, definitely a future collector's item. Only 4800 2009 Solstices were built, so I can't imagine more than 2000 coupes were produced. Purchasing a Solstice coupe and keeping the miles off it should make some investors big bucks in the future.

I was seeing a 31 year old earlier this year and really kinda liked the older age thing. Less games, more direct and to the point. My final year of school I went from dating an 18 year old early in the year (I was 24) to a 26 year old at the end of the year, and I preferred the 26 year old. She was a lot more emotionally stable.

Wow, I imagine that is going to clog up other bridges. Are people heading as far south as the San Mateo Bridge to get across? How are they dealing with the situation? Recently the DOT discovered that the I-80 bridge over the Mississippi in Davenport has some severe stress cracking. It is bad enough that the outer lanes have been closed, so there is only one lane open in each direction to cut down on the load the bridge carries. Repairs are going to take months, and this is one of the most important river crossings in the nation. They are also rebuilding the I-80 bridge in Omaha because it was also in bad shape. We as a nation have let our infrastructure go to hell in a handbasket over the last decade.
